And for individuals..?
editWhat template should be used for individuals? Can someone mention this in the documentation, please - we can then switch the articles about individuals that are currently using this template. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 12:27, 18 August 2012 (UTC)
Templates and internal consistency of national varieties of English
editI recently changed Forty Martyrs of England and Wales to have a consistent spelling of the word "canonize/canonise" throughout.[1] It seemed a little counter-intuitive to use -ize in an article on a British topic, but since the topic pre-dates standardization of either British or American spelling, I figured it would be okay, and from my understanding both spellings are actually acceptable in British English, just -ise is more common. Also, the very first version of the article had been written with the -ize spelling. I was soon reverted rather sloppily, though.[2] This revert ignored all the places in the article where -ize was still in use, and reintroduced inconsistency to the article. I then fixed this with another edit to remove all but one instance of -ize.[3] The remaining instance is, unfortunately, part of Template:Infobox martyrs, which uses the "American spelling" in every article in which it is used. Any idea how to get around this? elvenscout742 (talk) 08:09, 19 February 2013 (UTC)
- I've added an optional parameter so that you can add "canonized_label = Canonised" if you wish. There's some test data at User:John of Reading/X3. -- John of Reading (talk) 11:50, 19 February 2013 (UTC)
Burial place
editCan someone add a field for resting place, if it is known? Thanks! Wikimandia (talk) 04:16, 17 January 2015 (UTC)
- Wikimandia, added
|buried=
from {{Infobox Christian leader}}. Frietjes (talk) 18:22, 24 January 2015 (UTC)- @Frietjes:
|resting_place=
, per {{infobox person}}, would be better; for example, some people are interned in a mausoleum, not buried. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 15:55, 25 January 2015 (UTC)- there is also

- Oppose - as noted previously, this template is for groups of martyrs, not individuals. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 16:14, 19 March 2020 (UTC)
- Support, based on usage, it seems to be used for individuals as well as groups (and has parameters that seem applicable mostly to individuals). Given that, I think we should default to the singular. Axem Titanium (talk) 19:56, 20 March 2020 (UTC)
