Date of birth

The doc now advises use of {{birth date and age}}, which requires a full date. However, as per WP:DOB the exact birth date should normally not be included in articles about living people unless it is widely published already, or has clearly been published with the approval of the person. Many editors seem to be automaically following this documetation and inserting full dates of birth where they should not. I have now included a warning about this and a suggestion to use {{birth year and age}} in the doc. DES ^(talk) 20:01, 27 June 2015 (UTC)

I'd like to make some tweaks to the infobox (i.e. add fields, change visual appearance, etc.)

Hi all,

I would like to edit the format of this infobox.

- Since not all pro bowlers on Wikipedia are in the PBA but are on their respective national teams, I would like to add a field for their medals in international tournaments, along with the country they represent (see Template:Infobox sportsperson)

- Also, since many of them have notable nicknames, the nickname field should also be included.

- I want to introduce a new field for bowling styles (stroker, tweener, cranker, etc.), to be separate from the field for the bowling hand.

- It should have some splash of color; the template is so drab and looks too much like the Template:Infobox person.

Wrap Infobox sportsperson instead of Infobox person?

I would propose that this template wrap {{Infobox sportsperson}}, instead of {{Infobox person}}. This is implemented in the sandbox, with comparisons to the existing template in the test cases.

The consequences of this proposal include:

1. The template will accept more specific parameters from {{Infobox sportsperson}} instead of from {{Infobox person}}.
2. The will be a new header section "Personal information" just below the photo.
3. All headers will inherit the gold color from {{Infobox sportsperson}} (this can easily be changed, if editors wish another color or none at all)
4. There will be a reordering of fields within "Personal information"
