Optional shortcut template

edit

In the vein of policy and related, I've added an optional shortcut to the infobox with the shortcut parameter. æle 02:00, 19 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Edit Request

editprotected

After label & data 10, please add:

| labe11    = Known IPs
| data11    = {{#if:{}|<tr><th style="width:33%;">Status</th><td class="" style="">{{#switch:{status}
|PENDING|pending|pending approval|PENDING APPROVAL|Pending Approval=<span style="color:orange;">Pending Approval</span>
|Active|ACTIVE|active=<span style="color:#00CC00;">Active</span>

Edit request (related to previous one)

edit

editprotected The categories need to be changed to Category:Long-term abuse - Pending approval, Category:Long-term abuse - Active, and Category:Long-term abuse - Archived. The long version of the project name is easier to understand and is less likely to cause confusion if someone happens to wander to this category.

<includeonly>
{{#if:{}|
{{#switch:{status}
|PENDING|pending|pending approval|PENDING APPROVAL|Pending Approval=
|Active|ACTIVE|active=
|ARCHIVED|Archived|archived=
}}
}}
</includeonly>

Also, label 11 currently says" Known IPs. Could that be changed to "Status", as that was what it's suppose to be?

The changed code is above. Thanks. Netalarmtalk 03:15, 3 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

  Not done Those categories don't exist atm. —TheDJ (talkcontribs) 13:25, 3 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Sandbox sync

edit

There's some weirdness with the status section right now: looks like the code was copy-pasted from a non-infobox which doesn't handle the label/data fields. I've fixed that in the sandbox, along with losing bordered and removing some extraneous whitespace. If there are no objections I'll get this synced. Chris Cunningham (user:thumperward: not at work) - talk 09:47, 5 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Ya, thanks! Things are pretty hectic at long-term abuse right now (the project that uses this infobox), so we haven't had time to cleanup everything. Anyway, thanks for your help! Netalarmtalk 16:36, 6 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

RfA section

edit

On [1], this section in the infobox makes an extra space between the first and second arbitration. This is a problem with the template, but I don't know how to fix it.Curb Chain (talk) 11:38, 5 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Rename

edit

Please move to Infobox Wikipedia vandal, for clarity. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 12:43, 13 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

  Not done Please use Wikipedia:Requested moves. Tra (Talk) 14:11, 13 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
What is your reason for supposing that the above is not a valid request (and thus for putting extra workload on my shoulders)? Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 23:32, 13 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
You're requesting a move, not an edit. As an experienced user, you should really be aware of this page, and you should not be trying to bypass it. People active there would have a better idea of which moves are controversial or not. By making the request in this way, you're forcing me to look all this up and independently verify that this is a valid move request, which wastes my time. m is a standard response documented at Template:EP. You may notice above that the template has already been discussed and moved once, which immediately calls into question whether your requested move is uncontroversial. Tra (Talk) 05:58, 14 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
I'm not forcing you to do anything. Your final statement has no justification. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 20:42, 15 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
Well we'll have to disagree then. Instructions for requesting the move are at Wikipedia:Rm#Requesting_controversial_and_potentially_controversial_moves. Tra (Talk) 21:28, 15 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
No, that's for controversial and potentially controversial moves. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 22:54, 15 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
I see it as potentially controversial. If you see it as uncontroversial then scroll up the page for the section saying how to request that type of move. Tra (Talk) 22:59, 15 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
I'm in no rush, I'll just wait for another admin, with sufficient common sense, to chance upon this conversation; as other admins have complied with similar requests elsewhere. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 00:54, 19 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

split lifespan

edit

I think it would be useful to split the "lifespan" parameter into a start date and a "last active" parameter, so that we can categorise LTAs by this data and use the categories as worklists for periodical reviews. If the abuse isnt ongoing, we can delist or even delete LTAs. John Vandenberg (chat) 02:22, 29 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Edit request January 2013

edit

The status parameter doesn't work if you use a capital "S". Would it be possible to revise the template to allow for uppercase as well? I believe that this could be accomplished by simply adding a duplicate of the {{#if:{}}} with all the "status"es replaced with "Status", immediately after the extant, lowercase parser, though there may be a more elegant way to do this. — Francophonie&Androphilie(Je vous invite à me parler) 00:11, 10 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

  Done. The recognised parameter has been |status= ever since it was added on 31 July 2010 (see #Edit Request above). When the documentation was updated, the wrong case was used. Ordinarily, I would simply have amended the documentation to match the actual template code - but the error was introduced so long ago that there may well be many uses of |Status= out there. So, I've amended the doc and also added code to the template so that |Status= is an alias for |status= - but only if |status= is entirely absent. --Redrose64 (talk) 07:41, 10 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Add SUBPAGENAME as sortkey to each of the the three category tags, for easier browsing of the categories. Note that the same effect is currently achieved by manual category tags on each page transcluding this template. Those tags can then be removed. — HHHIPPO 19:44, 3 April 2014 (UTC)Reply
