Template talk:Language grammars
Scope
editThis is a neat template, but there are well over a hundred articles eligible for inclusion, and with time this number set only to rise, the template will become too big to be navigationally useful. – Uanfala (talk) 20:44, 23 February 2019 (UTC)
@InAndOutLand:, I think it's better to keep, and build on, the system of more spefic templates, like Template:Romance grammars or Template:Grammars of South Asian languages. – Uanfala (talk) 20:47, 23 February 2019 (UTC)
The navbox is now sorted, which makes it far more legible. Maybe I'll make some more experiments – like more branching – in my sandbox. I'm not going to publish it unless it's widely supported; I post it mostly as experiments and source code for new navboxes, e.g. for particular language families. --Tarnoob (talk) 23:00, 4 October 2020 (UTC)
Title
editThe grammar of a language is uncountable. Grammars (plural) would refer to books about grammar. --Paul_012 (talk) 20:01, 24 February 2019 (UTC)
- When speaking of the grammar of a language, then the word is uncountable. But it becomes countable when the context widens to include the grammars of different language. You can say that English has a simpler grammar than Navajo, or that the grammars of the Semitic languages have a lot in common. – Uanfala (talk) 20:51, 24 February 2019 (UTC)
