"Spacecraft"
editThis seems to be a poorly named template, given spacecraft includes a very wide variety of things. Your scope says "orbital" but the template name and title does not indicate such. It should say "orbital" if it is for 'orbital' spacecraft. - In this industry, spacecraft is whatever is carried by an orbital launch vehicle. The only exceptions were the Space Shuttle, even Buran was a spacecraft since it was launched by the Energia. Besides, that is why it has a scope definition in the documentation. Template names should be simple, and then be adjusted by scope. I have asked the members of Wikipedia:WikiProject Spaceflight and Wikipedia:WikiProject Rocketry to give their opinion, since they are supposed to be the experts.
- On a different note, I would kindly ask if you could register a name, since talking though an IP prevents me from understanding your edits and experience here. If you do, please talk to me and I will help you make a proposal for the renaming. We know that I will be against and you in favor. As the rest of the guys get here, they will be able to weight on it. But please first make a user. Baldusi (talk) 18:57, 23 July 2015 (UTC)
- Having a username is not required on Wikipedia. And per our own article on spacecraft they are not solely orbital vehicles. Sub-orbital spaceflight-only spacecraft are clearly not, and in the history of spaceflight, we already have many examples of such, like SpaceShipOne, and the X-15, and all sounding rockets. Being imprecise on the naming of this template is not beneficial, and does not match the scope of the main article on spacecraft -- 67.70.32.190 (talk) 02:31, 24 July 2015 (UTC)
- I am trying to be civil here and putting this to a vote. For you to vote it would be better if you had a user name. This would also allow you to be member of the relevant WikiProjects. It is not a strict requirement, but it does makes things easier for having, for example, a personal Talk Page.
- Regarding the sub-orbital you made me think. I want to hear other opinions, though.Baldusi (talk) 05:37, 24 July 2015 (UTC)
