Excellent work
editExcellent work here @DankJae, well done. Titus Gold (talk) 23:12, 2 February 2023 (UTC)
- @Titus Gold, Thanks but please do not split sections out of this template, we do not need seven sub-templates, this one is enough. However, not sure what happens to {{AONBs in Wales}} now. DankJae 12:22, 7 February 2023 (UTC)
- I've only made a sub-template to replace some wider templates not specifically on Wales. Have no issue with "Protected areas of Wales" being the only template used in this field. Titus Gold (talk) 14:14, 7 February 2023 (UTC)
World Heritage Sites
editPersonally, I find this one useful, but I'm no template expert. I wonder if it should include WHS, of which Wales has four, List of World Heritage Sites in the United Kingdom? KJP1 (talk) 12:35, 7 February 2023 (UTC)
- Not opposed to add WHS's, although where should it go? New sub-heading or under "other"? It is not at Protected areas of Wales so not 100% sure of location or indeed whether it should be here and in the end {{World Heritage Sites in the United Kingdom}} does exist. But having them on both probably would be beneficial.
- List of World Heritage Sites in Wales has since been spun off, so technically would refer to that. DankJae 12:43, 7 February 2023 (UTC)
- World heritage site has "legal protection by an international convention administered by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO)" so I think it would fit in well in this template. Titus Gold (talk) 14:15, 7 February 2023 (UTC)
- Hmn, looking at all the others under Category:Protected areas templates, all except {{Protected areas of Cuba}} and {{Protected areas of Sabah}}, do not include WHSs. While we do not need to follow what other templates do, most only add things designated under IUCN protected area categories. Only natural WHS's are IUCN categorised, of which none (that are natural) are in Wales, so I guess WHS's cannot be added if deeming "protected areas" to be the IUCN's definition. Those under "others" probably have to go. This article has a list of IUCN designations in the UK (Article deems the UK not to be meeting the criteria haha) or this IUCN document.
- So "protected areas" probably means only those IUCN categorised, so may now have to remove the "other" section. (May have to remove Scheduled monuments from the PAoW article?). DankJae 16:27, 7 February 2023 (UTC)
- @KJP1, I boldly made Draft:Template:Archaeology of Wales as a potential alternative, would that be suitable there (does it fit under "archaeology"? not entirely sure)? I may also be too strict on what should be here, tbh. Did consider a conservation/heritage preservation template, but not enough coverage for a template IMO rn. DankJae 20:48, 16 February 2023 (UTC)
