Red-linked categories

Is this template supposed to be adding red-linked categories? -- œ 15:44, 15 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Problem

edit

This template can lead to conflicts with WP:BOLDTITLE. Toccata quarta (talk) 00:17, 15 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

then change the wording? all the transclusions are of the for "List of state leaders in YEAR", so are you proposing we have it use that phrase in bold? Frietjes (talk) 00:45, 15 January 2013 (UTC)Reply
Either the wording should be changed, the bolding removed, or the related pages moved. I don't know what most editors would prefer, but the first two options are more practical than the third one. Toccata quarta (talk) 12:17, 13 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

List of sovereign states

edit

Can someone help me modify this template to (as I did for another one here) so as to include the [List of sovereign states in XXXX] on these pages? (For example, List of sovereign states in 1950.) tahc chat 20:53, 2 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

done? Frietjes (talk) 19:22, 8 February 2015 (UTC)Reply
@Frietjes: It would seem that you added the link here but not on the main template. It thus does not show up on lists-- such as the current year. tahc chat 00:16, 9 February 2015 (UTC)Reply
Tahc, it won't show if List of sovereign states in 2015 doesn't exist (see List of state leaders in 2014 where it does appear). Frietjes (talk) 01:10, 18 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

Removal of international relations

edit

@Frietjes: Would you be willing to remove the "international relations" category from the template, as been discussed here? Marcocapelle (talk) 09:42, 28 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

Marcocapelle, as far as I can tell, it only adds that category if the category exists. Frietjes (talk) 13:59, 28 March 2016 (UTC)Reply
@Frietjes: Per discussion quoted, it shouldn't add the category at all, because articles about (lists of) rulers are not about international relations. Marcocapelle (talk) 14:02, 28 March 2016 (UTC)Reply
Marcocapelle, okay, done. Frietjes (talk) 14:07, 28 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

Removing automatically-added categories to transcluded pages

edit

Hi. Just to note, I have previously queried my following concern at WP:HD and WP:THQ—with the latter referring me to bring my case here to this page. I am enquiring as to whether or not it would/could be possible to optionally remove categories that have been automatically added to a user-created article that transcludes the {{SLBY}} template. For some backstory, I have recently created a userpage within my own userspace and I am currently struggling to manually delete these categories that have been implemented by default. Thank-you.--Neveselbert 22:00, 9 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

I have added code [1] to only add the categories in mainspace. PrimeHunter (talk) 12:24, 10 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

I propose to add the following lists by years that have been accepted:

  • List of vice presidents in current year
  • List of leaders of dependent territories in current year

I'm coming across this template from the edit request, and both the current and proposed texts go against MOS:THISISALIST. Maybe the introductions should be bespoke? And why is this template-protected? SWinxy (talk) 01:31, 16 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
Not done: The page's protection level has changed since this request was placed. You should now be able to edit the page yourself. If you still seem to be unable to, please reopen the request with further details. Discussion may continue below, this just deactivates the open request since a template editor is no longer needed. CHANGE THIS:

TO THIS:

or TO THIS, if you think it is better:

  • State leaders by century
  • {{#ifexist:List of state leaders in the {{{century}}} century|[[List of state leaders in the {{{century}}} century|State leaders in the {{{century}}} century]]}}

and because 2. this template is only used for the most recent years, all of which are in the 21st century. I think it unlikely that use will revert to use on earlier centuries, but perhaps the second option will work correctly. I do not know how to test it directly.

Done I went with your second option, but I had to tweak the template quite a bit because {{{century}}} was being passed values such as "18th-century", so it would look for List of state leaders in the 18th-century century. --Ahecht (TALK

I actually tweaked it a bit more so it appears as "State leaders by century (21st century)" to be less redundant. --Ahecht (TALK
