host= parameter doesn't work?

edit

I could not get the host= parameter to work, so I had to use {{Shared IP}} instead. 64.85.217.226 (talk) 15:58, 1 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia:WikiProject on XFFs is now a soft-redirect to meta:XFF project, so having sentences linking to both are redundant. Please remove "Alternatively, you can list this IP address at Wikipedia:WikiProject on XFFs". Thanks. Kharkiv07 (T) 23:55, 16 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

Template-protected edit request on 26 April 2016

edit

I propose adding something to this to address possible conflict of interest or paid editing. Also, the abuse response project is dead; I recommend keeping the text that abuse reports may be submitted, but removing the wikilink to the dead project, as has been done with {{Shared IP edu}}. PCHS-NJROTC (Messages) Jesus Christ loves you! 04:29, 26 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

@PCHS-NJROTC:   Not done - A complete and specific description of the exact changes you would like implemented is needed. If they are complicated, the suggested changes should be input and to the sandbox of this template. The kind of change you describe would likely require consensus or at least a proposal here that was unopposed for a period of time.Godsy(TALKCONT) 05:54, 26 April 2016 (UTC)Reply
Partly done: Link to WP:Abuse response removed. For COI/PAID: A a complete and specific description of the request has not been provided. The {{Edit template-protected}} template is not to propose changes; it is to have someone with the technical ability implement a request that is uncontroversial or supported by consensus. — JJMC89(T·C) 06:12, 26 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

Dead IP checking tool

edit

@PCHS-NJROTC: Reticulated Spline's tool as linked to by this template is returning a 503 error. Reticulated Spline hasn't been active here in 20 months so I suspect it to be dead.  — Scott talk 14:52, 5 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

Even though I created this template, it has since been fully protected where only sysops can edit it. Therefore, I have added an {{editrequest}} tag. PCHS-NJROTC (Messages)Growing tired of the bullshit day by day. 02:56, 24 October 2016 (UTC)Reply
Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format. - Mlpearc (open channel) 03:09, 24 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

Plausible GDPR violations

edit

Quick note that this template may be found to be in breach of the new rules in the EU as of 25th May 2018. Based on the fact that ICANN has been pressured to remove identifying data from the WHOIS records (DNS), any disclosure of such is plausibly violating the privacy of anyone there and their cat. Template Protected Edit Request on 2 March 2019

The WHOIS links for the template errors out and the sole maintainer is sporadically active. Could someone switch the URL to https://tools.wmflabs.org/whois/gateway.py?lookup=true&ip=(insert IP here). See this diff to help explain what I mean. Kb03 (talk) 05:52, 2 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

Please change

[[Special:Userlogin|Create an account!]]

to

[[Special:CreateAccount|Create an account!]]

to avoid a misleading link. The text "Create an account" should lead to the page for creating an account.

IP whois via spline not working

edit

I used this template recently. Clicking on the resulting IP Whois that is in the first sentence led to this message: "No webservice. The URL you have requested, https://tools.wmflabs.org/splinetools/whois/ip/50.243.158.117, is not currently serviced." ThatMontrealIP (talk) 18:23, 17 January 2020 (UTC)Reply
