Adding optional page and diff parameters

edit

Would there be any objection to adding optional {{{page}}} {{{diff}}} parameter to this? Given that it's supposed to emulate the behavior of thanking someone, it's strange that it doesn't actually say what one is thanking them for. I'm thinking something like: Hello, and thank you for {{#if:{{{page|}}}|your {{#if:{{{diff|}}}|[[Special:Diff/{{{diff}}}|contributions]]|contributions}} to [[:{{{page}}}|{{{page}}}]]|lending your time to help improve Wikipedia}}! -- Tamzin (she/they) | o toki tawa mi. 09:02, 29 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

That looks good to me; go for it! {{u|Sdkb}}talk 20:32, 29 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Sdkb:   Done. Let me know if you see any room for improvement. -- Tamzin (she/they) | o toki tawa mi. 23:44, 30 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

Position of happy face

edit

Would it be possible to change the placement of the green happy face so it points to the START of the message, instead of pointing below it (where an unrelated paragraph might start)? If you examine the tweak I just did to the page doc, you'll see the problem. To be clear: this would mean either changing the graphic so the little "talk bubble" arrow originates from the top left corner (pointing straight left and not diagonally down), or to insert the bulk of the graphic above the start of the paragraph created by this template (which might be undesirable/impossible). I don’t see any problem in limited width; if you still have issues I suggest {{clear}}. Since we want it after the signature we can’t just put it in the template, is my understanding. Aaron Liu (talk) 17:23, 18 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
