the core albums
editI want there to be a section with the core studio albums like Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band or Beatles for Sale. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Minemaster1337 (talk • contribs) 05:57, 27 February 2021 (UTC)
Jimmie Nichol
editI searched the archive for any discussion of Jimmie Nichol being an actual member of the Beatles and couldn't find anything. I removed his name for the simple reason that he was not a member of the band, only a touring musician. Touring musicians are usually listed separate from actual members in band articles unless they were promoted to actual membership. My edit was reverted by Randy Kryn with no actual explanation, other than stating that they were restoring Nichol. I think it's pretty clear. Nichol was never a member, he was hired for a few weeks for the Australian tour and shouldn't be listed with actual members of the band. freshacconci (✉) 01:01, 18 April 2022 (UTC)
- I think he should be there. "Touring musician" or not, he's more notable than someone like Norman Chapman, who apparently only played with the group three times. Pawnkingthree (talk) 01:37, 18 April 2022 (UTC)
- I'm not suggesting he is not notable. However, he was never a member of the Beatles and shouldn't be listed as a member. freshacconci (✉) 01:50, 18 April 2022 (UTC)
- Hi. There is one of those slow ongoing discussions at the talk page of Jimmie Nicol, I just added another comment there (section "Beatles members category?"). Randy Kryn (talk) 03:11, 18 April 2022 (UTC)
- He was a member, albeit a temporary one. If other temporary members such as Chapman are listed, I don't see why Nichol shouldn't be. Pawnkingthree (talk) 08:47, 18 April 2022 (UTC)
- Do you have a source that states he was a member? He was hired temporarily, as an employee. Touring musicians are the same as session musicians, hired for a specific time but not part of the band. freshacconci (✉) 15:29, 18 April 2022 (UTC)
- All we are doing is placing him in a template. I suppose he could go in "Personnel" alongside Billy Preston who also played with them temporarily. It doesn't make a great deal of difference to me. Pawnkingthree (talk) 00:39, 19 April 2022 (UTC)
- I’m with Pawnkingthree on this, if a bit late to the discussion. He should be listed on the template as is. Jusdafax (talk) 07:11, 20 September 2024 (UTC)
