  • Are |portal1-name=, etc. parameters needed?
    There's Portal:Bande dessinée that someone wanted to add to the banner, they also wanted a link displayed when Euro=yes was checked, but I haven't got to that yet. Um. I'll have to think about the portal params. They track what articles are on the portal(s), so it would be nice to have them. Hiding T 15:09, 6 November 2009 (UTC)
    • Okay, but do you really need 5 of these parameters? Is an article likely to be used on more than one portal?
    • It's probable an article will be on two portals, yeah, Tintin is used on both. There's also a furry portal and a superhero portal. It's unlikely an article would be on more than two, although possible. I can't think of any Franco-Belgian anthropomorphic superheroes, so three would likely be the max, two would be nice. Most of the other portals got deleted. If we ever re-establish more portals, it can be revisited. Hiding T 21:06, 13 November 2009 (UTC)

      I think they wanted the portal link to change from Portal:Comics to Portal:Bande dessinée if euro=yes, but I think maybe we need to revise that as the euro work gropup is larger than the area covered by the BD portal. I'm thinking it'd be relatively easy to wrap the portal link in a bd=yes in comicsproj, but I don't know how that would work in the meta banner, would that be a custom hook?       It could be done simply with the following:

  • Have we hit the limit on work groups? The meta banner goes up to ten, yeah? If we add more, do we just add more to the meta-banner? We're currently discussing adding an animation work group. Hiding T 17:54, 24 November 2009 (UTC)
    There is a limit of 10 per hook, but you can just add another hook if you need. I have done this to show you how. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 18:01, 24 November 2009 (UTC)
    Thanks. :) Now another thing, sorry. The template is calling the redlink {{Comicsproj/importance}}. Is that something to do with allowing custom importance scales to be displayed in the nested version as discussed at WT:COMICS or something different? Hiding T 18:02, 24 November 2009 (UTC)

Project banner

The {{Comicsproj}} project banner template should be added (not subst:ed) to the talk page of every article within the scope of the project. While the template does not require any additional parameters, it has a number of optional ones that add various extra features to the banner. The full syntax is as follows:

General parameters:

  • small – "yes" if the banner should be rendered in its miniature size; this should be used sparingly and only on crowded talk pages for the time being.
  • class – a rating of the article's quality; see the assessment department for more details.
  • importance – a rating of the article's importance; see the assessment department for more details.
  • A-Class – Currently reserved for future usage.
  • attention – "yes" if the article requires immediate attention; this should be used sparingly.
  • auto – "yes" if the article has been automatically assessed by a bot. Typically applies to stub articles only.
  • cleanup – "yes" if the article requires general cleaning up. Please detail what aspects of the article require clean-up on the article's talk page, otherwise the tag can be removed without redress to the problems.
  • fiction – "yes" if the article needs rewriting to maintain an out of universe approach per Wikipedia:Writing about fiction.
  • future - "yes" if the article contains discussion of comics that have been announced but are currently unpublished. Such articles should avoid recentism and statements that will date quickly.
  • photo – "yes" if the article requires an image, which should be added per guidance.
  • infobox – "yes" if the article needs an infobox added or updated.

B-Class checklist (available only for articles rated as "Stub-Class", "Start-Class", or "B-Class"—see the assessment department for more details):

Portals:

  • portalX-name – if the article has been selected for use on a portal, the name of that portal. The name should be given without any formatting or namespace prefixes; thus, Portal:Comics is given as "|portal1-name=Comics". Up to five different portals may be specified, via the parameters portal1-name through portal5-name.
  • portalX-link – the portal subpage location where the article may be found on the corresponding portal. This should be given as a pure unlinked subpage name; thus, Portal:Comics/Featured article/9 is given as "|portal1-link=Featured article/9".

To avoid needlessly cluttering up talk pages, it is usually appropriate to remove any unused parameters from the template.
