infobox parameter
editMany project banners have a need-infobox parameter. Should one be added to this one? Griffinofwales (talk) 20:16, 13 May 2010 (UTC)

Can WikiProjects Long Island and New York City be added? The template is missing these. Thanks. – Epicgenius (talk) 00:39, 13 October 2014 (UTC)

Edit request as part of merge for inactive and semi-active wikiprojects

Please alter the template to include the subprojects that have been added to the current draft version in the sandbox with output visible on the testcases page, the net diff is this. This change is being effected in order to implement the consensus for WikiProject merger reached at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject New York (state)#Merging inactive and semi-active WikiProjects. The subprojects have been ordered alphabetically in the template for organizational convenience; for better or for worse, the images were taken directly from the existing wikiproject banners.
Courtesy pings to Muboshgu, as the driving force behind this change to offer the opportunity for further input, and to epicgenius who made a similar edit request above, albeit including the NYC Wikiproject as well, which was not included in this go-around as it is currently active and self-sustaining.
I should be logged-in, albeit periodically away from the computer for significant stretches, for the next two-three hours if there are any additional questions. If this happens reasonably soon I will update the documentation to match, otherwise either someone else will need to do it, or I will get it done tomorrow. (please ping on reply)

- Alright, well I'm packing it in for now, I'm confident I'll have time tomorrow, therefore, I will update the documentation if need be in 24 hours.

- Quantocius Quantotius, I wouldn't worry about it. It sometimes might take days for a template edit request to be replied to. epicgenius (talk) 04:09, 4 February 2020 (UTC)
- @epicgenius: Thanks, having done some software QA myself, I should've known that this would take longer to review than to write, and I did miss a bit of extraneous code that should've been removed, so clearly a {{self-minnow}} is in order. In any event, the documentation update is now Completed.

Great! So what's the next step? We need to make it so that pages tagged with the inactive or semi-active WP gets properly converted. I'm not sure how to do that. – Muboshgu (talk) 21:55, 4 February 2020 (UTC)
- @Muboshgu: If this works like I think it does, the subproject templates should be converted to wrapper templates, as has been done with Template:WikiProject Cornell University, once that's done AnomieBOT will go around and substitute all the existing entries assuming the templates are properly added to Category:Wikipedia templates to be automatically substituted. I'd start it now, but I've never done this before so I want to double check that my research is correct, I'm also dealing with other things so I'm constantly getting into and out of the computer chair right now, and I don't want to feel rushed as I go through this, however I can probably do it next week if no one else has gotten around to it. The only issue I foresee is if a page has Template:WikiProject New York (state) on it already, in which case a straightforward substitution would result in duplicate entries (the existing + the newly substituted entry); I'm uncertain if the bot has been programmed to handle that kind of situation, which is of course another reason to review all documentation first.
Syracuse error categories
editThe links within the template to categories such as Category:Syracuse articles needing attention need to read "Syracuse, New York" rather than just Syracuse.Le Deluge (talk) 17:12, 4 July 2022 (UTC)

Description of suggested change: I recently created WP:NYHOUSING, a task force under WikiProjects NY and NYC. I just added the necessary updates to the sandbox version of this template. Can somebody please update the template to match? TheTranarchist ⚧ Ⓐ (talk) 21:14, 21 July 2023 (UTC)TheTranarchist

- @MSGJ There's a bug in the markup I just ran into while assessing importance, sorry. There's an instance where in the template where
Housing-importance
is included instead ofhousing-importance
. Could you please de-capitalize it? Best, TheTranarchist ⚧ Ⓐ (talk) 20:28, 24 July 2023 (UTC)- Yep that's done — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 21:01, 24 July 2023 (UTC)

edit@LoomCreek and GoingBatty: are these parameters properly supported? They're mentioned in the /doc, but are not listed in the TemplateData, and are placing pages into Category:Pages using WikiProject New York (state) with unknown parameters (0). ~ Tom.Reding (talk ⋅dgaf) 13:53, 29 March 2024 (UTC)
- Sorry, I'm only a part of the WikiProject New York Housing and Tenant Rights Task Force rather then the broader wikiproject. So I don't really have experience with those parameters (although it's possible I've mistakenly used them before) and I only really have a very passing knowledge of automated categories and parameters through my work there, so I can't be of much help. - LoomCreek (talk) 15:24, 29 March 2024 (UTC)
- @Tom.Reding: If you go to Template:WikiProject New York (state) and click "View source", you can see that these parameters are not supported. Therefore, I removed them from the documentation. GoingBatty (talk) 15:49, 29 March 2024 (UTC)
- I'm using AWB to delete them, I'm up to about 150 cleaned. This was after noticing the work of Tom.Reding in changing Talk:Alpha Phi Alpha and identifying these removals as a job large enough for AWB (though honestly, if someone told me to stop because a bot was going to do it, I wouldn't object. :) )Naraht (talk) 15:54, 29 March 2024 (UTC)
- @Naraht: feel free to continue since it's no longer an issue. ~ Tom.Reding (talk ⋅dgaf) 15:58, 29 March 2024 (UTC)
- @GoingBatty: thanks - I wasn't sure if they were omitted intentionally or by accident, given their continued presence in the /doc (better safe than sorry). ~ Tom.Reding (talk ⋅dgaf) 15:58, 29 March 2024 (UTC)
- @GoingBatty: I think Battybot is doing that now, so I'll wait a day and see what's left...Naraht (talk) 17:40, 29 March 2024 (UTC)
- @Tom.Reding and @Naraht: The category is now empty. Great job! GoingBatty (talk) 21:33, 29 March 2024 (UTC)
