Alternate version of this template
editI've made a version of this template that needs fewer parameters (although it can't currently use the in? parameter).
Instead of
Years box: | 2003 2004 2005 2006 2007 2008 2009 |
Centuries: | 20th century · 21st century · 22nd century |
Decades: | 1970s 1980s 1990s 2000s 2010s 2020s 2030s |
Years: | 2003 2004 2005 2006 2007 2008 2009 |
{{yearbox| | cp=20th Century | c=21st century | cf=22nd century | yp1=2003 | yp2=2004 | yp3=2005 | year=2006 | ya1=2007 | ya2=2008 | ya3=2009 | dp3=1970s | dp2=1980s | dp1=1990s | d=2000s | dn1=2010s | dn2=2020s | dn3=2030s }}
it can be called like this:
{{Simple Yearbox| previousCenturies=19|th | 20|th | century=21|st | followingCentury=22|nd | decadeOfCentury=0 | yearOfDecade=6 }}
Enhancement proposal
editI would like to add in2? and in3? parameters so that I can replace Template:TV years header with this template and be able to link to film, television, and home video. Any objections or comments? This shouldn't affect any current usage so I can't see there being much objection. Cburnett 16:46, 2 November 2006 (UTC)
- I know I didn't wait a long time for feedback but I went ahead and did it. See 2006 in film, 2006 in home video, and 2006 in television for usage. Cburnett 14:44, 3 November 2006 (UTC)

editPlease add a link to [[io:template:yari]]. Thank you (João X.M.Santos, from io:Wikipedia).
2000s (decade)
edit2000s is actually a disambiguation page - we would want the yearbox to link to 2000s (decade) instead. Is that possible? --JaGatalk 21:41, 6 September 2009 (UTC)
- Yes, although it only took a year and a half to fix. :-) R'n'B (call me Russ) 22:06, 4 June 2011 (UTC)
- Unfortunately the fix made all the XXX0s (decade) pages highly wanted, and they have now been created as redirects, which means every instance of the links goes through the redirect (as well as using the relatively expensive "ifexist"). Rich Farmbrough, 00:27, 16 October 2012 (UTC).
- OK I created a sandbox version that works without parameters for almost all cases. It calculates all the parameters from the page name. The multiple "in" parameters are only used in the home video pages, and not to very good effect, so I propose dropping them. I'm actually a little dubious about the value of this template altogether, but it might as well be simple to use. Rich Farmbrough, 02:55, 16 October 2012 (UTC).
- I put the sandbox live, but a user says it doesn't work with 1780 in rail transport and has reverted.
- I have put the sandbox version in 1780 in rail transport which seems fine and identical to the previous version, so I await enlightenment. Rich Farmbrough, 14:59, 31 October 2012 (UTC).
- My mistake, I reverted myself again. There are a few problems with the new version, but not in the article I stated, sending you on a wild goose change of course. 2000 in birding and ornithology is an article where the old version and the new one seem to produce a different result. Wikipedia:WikiProject Years gives huge errors now with the new version, but is of course an exceptional situation. I'll look further to find out if there are other problems as well. An error in the template
editHello, today I have tested this template Year frame with a page architecture in 1 bc and I only get -1 0 1 in addition it also affects the years for example, on page 1900 in sports the sale that 1900 is 20th century was actually the last year of the 19th century Like the year 2000 that comes from the 21st century, I would like you to fix that little detail as well as the template year nav topic, thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by DXaviersRZ (talk • contribs) 21:23, 9 January 2019 (UTC)
