History
editToku was founded in April 2018 by Thomas Laboulle.[3]
In September 2021, Toku raised $5 million in Series A funding.[4] The funds were used to support Toku's expansion, including the development of its "Contact Centre as a Service" platform.[4] In the same month, Toku joined Zoom's Phone Provider Exchange Program, facilitating the integration of businesses' PSTN carriers with Zoom's platform.[5] As an Enhanced Cloud Peering collaborator, Toku is listed for organisations to select as a carrier on the Zoom Phone platform.[6]
In June 2022, Toku became the first in Singapore and Southeast Asia to join the global AB Handshake Community.[7][8] In November, Toku announced a US$5 million Series A extension, raising the total funding to $10 million. The round was co-led by Delivery Hero Ventures and Malaysia's OSK Ventures.[9][10]
In April 2023, Toku acquired Activeo Singapore, the Southeast Asia operations of Activeo, a France-based customer experience (CX) consulting firm.[11][12][13] In December, Toku was awarded the 2023 Southeast Asia Cloud Contact Centre Services Competitive Strategy Leadership Award by Frost & Sullivan.[14]
In January 2024, Toku was recognised as the 37th Fastest Growing Company in Singapore by The Straits Times and Statista.[15]
In March 2024, Toku was ranked 225th amongst High-Growth Companies in Asia Pacific by the Financial Times and Statista.[16]
Services
editToku specialises in contact centre platforms, programmable voice and messaging, campaign manager platform, and integration with Microsoft Teams and Zoom Phone.[1][17] The Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) of Singapore has authorized the company to manage commercial SMS traffic.[18]
Initially holding a telco license, Toku now owns over 60 percent of Singapore's virtual numbers.[2]
Gojek, a major on-demand services platform, uses Toku's API for communication purposes.[19][20]
