"Comprised of" is perfectly valid phrasing in Wikipedia.
"Composed of" and "consists of" are possible alternatives, but are no better. They are merely alternative wordings to express the same idea.
Pedants and other self-appointed grammar prigs consider "comprised of" to be incorrect usage, rooted in an effort to impose an increasingly archaic distinction.
Style manuals either don't see anything worth mentioning and are often fine with the phrase.
There is no agreement that "comprised of" is wrong.
Language is always changing and usages are constantly evolving, even if some seem to want to obdurately remain in the past. "Comprised of" acceptance has been growing in recent decades.
An editor has been actively removing the phrase from Wikipedia articles for years, but that proves nothing.
Some people object to this removal of "comprised of". Some do not object, but most roll their eyes and see it as a spectacular waste of time.
Doing anything other than "fixing" a non-problem -- like creating a new article or adding sources -- makes Wikipedia better, while eliminating "comprised of" solves nothing.

"Comprised of" in English

There is simply nothing wrong with "comprised of" in modern English. The Wikipedia article Comprised of documents that the usage goes back hundreds of years in the works of well-known authors and that it is broadly and commonly used in writing in journalism, books, government documents and other sources.

The obsession with "fixing" the non-problem appears to be a fetish with imposing an antiquated and obsolete distinction and an unwillingness to accept that usage has changed, combined with a deep-seated desire for attention.

COLD Front, the activist arm of the Comprised Of League of Defense, is comprised of those Wikipedia editors who are not willing to sit idly by while these needless edits are made.

Media coverage

None. Why would anyone care, either way? And if anyone is removing (or adding) "comprised of" to get media coverage, that only makes it worse. Interview requests will be ignored.
