I worked in a professional journalism organization for the better part of a decade, and have picked up some of the expected philosophies. I don't like false equivalence journalism, for one, but I also don't believe in absolute objectivity - understanding and declaring your own biases is important for allowing other people to make their own decisions about what you have to say.
