The Blood Sugar Diet, as described by the book that defines it, is intended to prevent and reverse type 2 diabetes (and stay off medication).

It is based on a set of studies conducted at Newcastle University and Glasagow Unversity, and papers published about their results.

The Blood Sugar Diet comprises a description of the food and drink to be consumed or avoided, plus an 8 week schedule for strongly calorie-controlled consumption of that food.

Additional guidance is provided for exercise, stress-relief, and following up after the initial 8 weeks, in order to prevent a recurrence of type 2 diabetes.

It has been claimed that "Diabetes mellitus is a chronic disease, for which there is no known cure except in very specific situations". [1]

However, a number of sources claim that the effects of type 2 diabetes can be reversed by dietary means. Using the definition "Diabetes ... is a group of metabolic diseases in which there are high blood sugar levels over a prolonged period", these sources claim that the measures of those individual metabolic diseases, including those sugar levels, can become similar to the measures of people who don't have type 2 diabetes.

This article doesn't evaluation the claims and counter claims. Instead, it describes one of those sources, a book with "Blood Sugar Diet" in its title, and identifies an associated website.

The book, published in December 2015, is a best-seller in the UK, with over 1500 reviews at Amazon UK. It has over 120 reviews at Amazon USA.

It has been reviewed by several other sources that are independent of the author and publisher.
