Liu Yuxuan (Chinese name:刘玉萱,pinyin:Liu Yuxuan, English name: Alice, born 20th November 2011 ), is a Chinese figure skater. She is the bronze medalist of the Advanced Novice Women in the 2024 Asian Open Figure Skating Trophy, the silver medalist representing Guangdong team in the 14th National Winter Games of China.[1] and the champion of Advanced Novice Women in 2024 Chinese National Novice Figure Skating Championships[2]

Personal Life

Liu was born on 20th November 2011, in Tianjin China. As for hobbies, she enjoys tennis and ballet. And she's been systematically training in ballet, which contributes a lot to her artistic expression in her skating performance.

She is often nicknamed Jiajia(Chinese:嘉嘉)by her fans.

Early years

Liu began to skate in 2018, at the age of 7. She joined the Beijing Xingyuan Skating Club, and Xu Zuoren became her main coach there. Her parents drove from Tianjin to Beijing every weekend to take her to training once a week in the first year. As her training progressed and she showed more potential in figure skating, her training frequency increased as well. She passed the Step and Free Skating Level 10 test of the China Figure Skating Rating Test in 2023. Therefore, she was awarded the title of National Athletic Athlete.[3]

2024-2025 season: Advanced Novice International Debut

Liu made her first international debut at the 2024 Asian Open Figure Skating Trophy. Despite an error on the last jump 2A in the short program, she placed fourth in the short program with an excellent performance on the other technical movements. She performed well in the free skating that followed, finishing third in the free skate, earning her third place in the competition.[4]

She also performed well in national tournaments prior to that. In the 2024 China Figure Skating Club League, she competed in the Senior and Advanced Novice groups. In senior group, she won silver medals in CHCLUB Qingdao and Chengdu. In the advanced novice group, she won gold medals in CHCLUB Xi’an, Qingdao and Chengdu. With the points ranking, Liu successfully entered the finals of these two categories. She ranked 5th place in the Senior Group and won the gold medal in the Advanced Novice group.

After she finished most of competitions in the season, she went to Moscow, Russia to join in the prestigious Eteri Tutberidze team for training. There, she gained a new short program - the Mulan, the choreographer of which is Eteri Tutberidze and Daniil Gleichengauz.

She returned for the first time with the results of her abroad training at the Chinese National Novice Figure Skating Championships in November. In the short program, she presented the first performance of her new show, Mulan and placed first with a score of 47.42. In the free skating on the next day, she once again showed her excellent training and won the championship with a total score of 143.01, almost 7 points ahead of the second place.
