Colonial Exhibition Semarang 1914

About me

edit

I have been a Wikipedian since September 6, 2016, when I first made my tentative Wikipedia edits. My first article is Mausoleum O. G. Khouw, a local landmark in my native hometown of Jakarta, capital of Indonesia.

Although born in Jakarta, my father's family is originally from Semarang in Central Java. We are of Peranakan Chinese background with some Minahasan descent through my mother, whose family comes from Manado in North Sulawesi. Like most Jakartans, we are migrants of mixed descent. Today, I live mainly in Hong Kong, but return to Jakarta for work frequently.

Since my life in Hong Kong is very busy, I'm active on Wikipedia mainly when I'm on holiday back home in Indonesia. My main interests include Overseas Chinese and colonial Indonesian history, in particular the social history of the 'Cabang Atas', or the traditional Chinese establishment of colonial Indonesia. Although my focus is on Java at the moment, I aim to include biographies and articles from the so-called 'Outer Islands' of Indonesia in due course.

I support WP Women in Red, and aim to create more articles on women of the colonial period in Indonesia, as well as women academics who have contributed to the study of Indonesian history and culture.
