David Alan Moore is a founder member of The Palmerston Forts Society based at Fort Nelson on Portsdown Hill. He is the creator and webmaster of two fortification websites www.victorianforts.co.uk and www.fortgilkicker.co.uk. He has spent forty years plus researching Victorian forts and is the author of many published books and articles in journals on Victorian fortification and associated artillery.
David Alan Moore has assisted many National bodies with the interpretation of Fortifications in their care, including English Heritage, The Landmark Trust at Crownhill Fort Plymouth, Fontazzoni Wirt Artna at Malta, The National Trust at The Needles Old and New Batteries and Fort Bembridge Isle of Wight, Fort Camden in Cork as well as local authorities at Gosport and Portsmouth. He is currently working on research for the Solent Papers series of books detailing the Victorian Fortifications of Portsmouth.
