biography
editTerri Kruithof was born 3rd of August, 1990[1] to a teacher and a draftsman. From very early on,
she enjoyed painting, creating and using her imagination. She grew up in rural Victoria,
Australia, in an area that is constantly ravaged by either floods or bushfires about three
hours east of Melbourne. Her art is mostly fantasy, as she enjoys her art as a place to escape from reality.[2]
Her mediums include digital works, painting, drawing and photography. in her early years,
Terri wanted to get into acting, but realised that she was more passionate about creating the
worlds she saw in her head for others to see. Her love for the theatre still exsists, as she
makes most of the costumes you see in her photography.Her artwork has been featured in many
competions and exhibitions, her first award being first place state wide in the Australian Red
Cross competion when she was 8.
inspiration and works
editInsperations for her work include the bushland which surrounds her home, music Evanesence, Lady Gaga, Muse and movie scores such as The Chronicles of Narnia and Lord of the Rings, and movies like Lord of the rings, Dead Man, Moulin Rouge, Prince Caspian and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Such books like The Vampire Chronicles, the Castings Trilogy, the Wind on fire Trilogy, wuthering heights and anime comics also influence her work. Her love for Medieval, Renascence, Baroque, Roccoco and Victorian history also inspire the fashions she uses in her work. which puts her art in the steampunk,gothic category. Her most recent works have been about a sense of place, and global disfunctionality including things about body image and climate change and the finacial crisis.
