List of Ashtabula County, Ohio covered bridges
editText of communications with Santiago Calatrava LLC
editDear Sir,
As per your request, herewith we are enclosing the fact sheet of the "Quarto Ponte sul Canal Grande", Venice, Italy.
Project:
In June 1999, the Municipality of Venice drafted a preliminary plan for a fourth bridge, the Quarto Ponte sul Canal Grande. Through a public selection process, Santiago Calatrava was commissioned in November 1999 to design the new bridge. Calatrava's response is an arched bridge with a large radius which was designed to be constructed off-site and installed entirely from the canal.
Architect and Engineer: Santiago Calatrava
Client:
Municipality of Venice
Site:
The bridge is situated at an strategic point, connecting the railway station (Stazzione Santa Lucia), on the north with the Piazzale Roma (the City's arrival point by car/bus), on the south side of the Grand Canal. The bridge is important both functionally and symbolically, connecting arriving visitors to the city and welcoming them to Venice with a panoramic view of the Grand Canal.
Major Design Features:
The bridge is arched with a very big radius of 180 meters (590 ft), consisting of a central arch, two side arches and two lower arches. Girders placed radial to the main radius join the arches together. The girders are of steel tubes and plates which form closed section boxes.
An important feature of the project is the creation of two public areas near the two ends of the bridge, which act as extensions of the bridge and form symbolic celebratory spaces for the city.
Dimensions:
Height of arch: 3.45 m (11.32 ft) Clearance to water (at high tide): 7.04 m (23.1 ft) Length of bridge: 101.16 m (331.89 ft) Distance between abutments: 79.72 m (261.55 ft) Width of bridge: 5.39 - 9.38 m (17.68 - 30.77 ft) Distance between ribs: 0.96 m - 1.14 m (3.15 - 3.74 ft) Distance of ribs from centerline:3.28 m - 4.57 m (10.76 - 14.99 ft) Weight (approx): 340 tons
Materials:
Structure of arch: Steel Abutments: Reinforced concrete clad in pietra d'Istria Cladding/Finishes: Pietra d'Istria, pietra Trachite, bronze, glass Parapet: Glass, brass
The official name of the bridge is: Ponte della Costituzione.

Greetings.
I'm trying to find the following information about the new Calatrava bridge in Venice, Italy. Your public project page on this bridge contain no information other than images. The information I'm requesting will be used on the English version of Wikipedia.
If you are not the proper person to contact, please either forward this to the proper person, or let me know who that would be, so I may ask them directly. Thank you for any assistance you can render.
Information desired:
bridge_name = official_name = carries = pedestrians? crosses = Grand Canal? locale = Venice Italy designer = Santiago Calatrava? design = what sort of bridge is this? Arch? material = What's it made of? mainspan = Length? length = Length of any side spans? width = width of the bridge and roadbed? height = load = what is it's rated load? If it's only for pedestrians, I don't think this one matters. clearance = there's no roof according to the imagry, so this probably doesn't matter either. below = What is the clearance below the bridge? begin = When was it begun? complete = August 2008, yes? open = When will it open?
Any other information which you think might be appropriate for a Wikipedia article would be appreciated as well. Thank you again.
