Dfrg.msc (talk · contribs) My name is Dfrg.msc and I’ve been on English Wikipedia since 27 May 2006, 08:51. I don’t need anyone to tell me how much I’ve changed as an editor, but I would value and greatly appreciate any input you can offer.

I would not call myself "highly experienced" but I’ve been around. I believe that co-operation and civility between editors is the cornerstone of a successfully and functioning Wikipedia. I am part of Esperanza and the Kindness Campaign.

I am part of a great many Wikiprojects (a full list is available on my mainpage) and these convey my interests. I devote most of my edits to the articles of these areas. I regret not committing as much time as I want to these Wikiprojects. I also believe in minimizing conflict and edit wars by discussing changes on the appropriate talk page.

I am a proud and deeply inclusionist editor, but I’ve no trouble WP:CSD'ing an article on some teenagers friend’s garage band. I think that Wikipedia is blind without pictures and over my time I’ve uploaded over 80 individual Images and Media files; all of which have found a place in article space (including the Editor review image). They may be see here at my gallery or you can see my log here. I’m adept at making templates.

Glen S granted me admin-like powers and Husond persuaded me to take up Vandal fighting. I find RCP and Vandalism patrol to be a enjoyable and forfliling experience. Non-admin rollback, Lupins Anti-vandal Tool and VandalProof make an effective combination. I like to give vandals every chance of change, but I have made reports to WP:AIV.

I’ve adopted two Editors, Drizzt Jamo and Culverin, who are both on track to becoming excellent editors.

Sometimes, I’m accused of Humor. Was this supposed to be brief? Dfrg.msc 1 . 2 . 3 09:55, 30 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • Wow you have a lot of vandalism reverting history - excellent job! Although, I am concerned it will not be enough to earn you an adminship. I see a lot of participation user talk pages and discussions. In all of your edits, I counted 5 XfD discussions where you've been involved; please try to always be active on XfD's, this will quickly increase your Wikipedia namespace edits as well. I see many minor article improvements, which will most likely not help much on your RfA. A successful RfA usually requires at least one featured article. Overall, you have a lot of admin potential, but waiting a couple more months is suggested. Michaelas10 (Talk) 14:58, 30 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Great job!!! Very good work...while I would recomend trying to work on an article to get it featured is isn't a requirement for the RFA. Keep up the good work and if you can try to article build.__Seadog 14:44, 2 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • All I can say is you demonstrate great civility and a sense of humour that never detracts from the encyclopedia work. Always a pleasure to work this guy. I salute you Dfrg.msc. ReverendG 06:13, 4 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Well, you already know that I regard you as a great user, with a fine sense of humor. :-) You are a dedicated Wikipedian and you've been doing a very good job here. Now, if you intend to launch an RfA soon, I have a few reservations:
    • Although you've been fighting a lot of vandalism, I see that you seldom warn the vandals. You should always place warnings on their talk pages, in order to make them stop sooner.
    • Little participation in XfD. Admins are expected to be very accustomed to the circumstances under which should pages be deleted. XfD presence will have other users recognize your experience in that area, whereas absense will naturally result in the opposite.
    • Typos, typos, typos... Although I believe that your typo-rate has been decreasing lately, I shall alert that frequent typos may instill other users with a sense that you are a rather careless editor when it comes to writing. Previewing edits is a good remedy if you're prone to make typos. That's what I do coz my typing stinks. :P
  • I guess that's it. :-) Oh, I should praise you for you 100% edit summary usage, your strong sense of community/friendly attitude, and also the way you brought up Culverin. Cheers! --Húsönd 02:16, 5 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Your contributions towards maintenance tasks have been excellent. It would be nice if you can devote some time to major editing, article creation and discussions. Keep up the good work! utcursch | talk 15:46, 8 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Could you talk about Category:Suspected Wikipedia sockpuppets of Dfrg.msc? How was that resolved? There are several indef blocked usernames that are labeled as sock puppets or impersonators of yourself. --Fang Aili talk 16:26, 18 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Thankyou for your interest. Category:Suspected Wikipedia sockpuppets of Dfrg.msc has been a burden on me for quite some time. It was created by User:Tijuana Brass who has taken leave for something like five months. I've not been able to resolve it as Brass is not here. When I was new I had close contact with two Users who were proven vandals and sock masters, I still maintain that I was different to them, but, as a result of my newness, I did make a few mistakes. Most of the suspected Sockpuppets were created whilst I had a functioning and established account, there's no reason for me to do these things. I have requested a checkuser be done on my account but nothing has happened so far. Although Tijuana Brass was a great influence on me in my early days, I feel I am still looked upon by him with suspicion, which I regret. I wait until Tijuana's return so we can continue to resolve this. On the positive: I have learnt a lot from this experience. Dfrg.msc 1 . 2 . Editor Review 22:24, 18 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • I am new to wikipedia, and you mindlessly wrote off my first ever edits (to the article Rudy (film), which were completely legitimate, as vandalism. I am instantly turned off to wikipedia as such a unthinking editor could be even considered for adminship. AntonioMontana 19:20, 15 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • My $0.02: some early bouts of excess silliness seem to be well and truly behind you. AMA request on Rfwoolf is one of the better ones, althoguh you could have spent more time patiently explaining to Woolf why his behaviour was problematic, rather than leaving the fire to spread to so many other places. Civility good, edit summary usage good, vandal fighting impressive. Above comments re WP:BITE are harsh but are probably legitimate in respect of most RC patrollers; reversion only really works when accompanied by education, in the case of newbies, but it takes so much longer to research and Care than it does to make a bad edit that this is a recurrent and probably irresolvable problem. • Thanks for the response, and please excuse me if my question sounded a bit curt. I found your large signature slightly distracting, but you have changed it, so there is no point in discussing the matter any further. Anyway, most everything else seems to have been covered already, so I will simply say that when I have seen you around you are always doing good work, and that I greatly enjoy your sense of humor. Questions

  1. Of your contributions to Wikipedia, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?
Answer: What just one? Well, though I'm not really a Wikignome, I find I'm addicted to improving what ever is on the other side of the "Random Article" button. Well, I've worked extensively with images and Art, Life and the other thing, Bow (weapon), Parliament House, Canberra, St Francis Xavier College (Canberra) and Australian dollar. Dfrg.msc 1 . 2 . 3 10:47, 30 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Update: Looking now, I'd probably say it is Rone which I hope to make into a Good Article and then Featured. Dfrg.msc 22:45, 10 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  1. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
Answer: Of course, mainly in my early days when, "I just didn't get it", a few editors really helped me out then (User:Improv) and I find myself saying the same thing to new editors. I've been accused of sockpuppetry before, and this is how I dealt with it: 1, 2 , 3, 4 and 5 (Culverin is now, after a short block, a much better editor than he ever was before, he is to be congratulated on the progress he has made). I have gained experience though adversity and I know how to deal with, and better, avoid conflict. I have, and will apply these skills where necessary. Update: I'm at the moment working though a few AMA cases. I have closed one so far. Dfrg.msc 22:50, 10 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  1. Hi Dfrg.msc,
I have a question. Today I just clicked on a link at the top of the wikipedia page, and found that you and other editors have accused me of making edits that I have never made, for pages I have never visited before. Can someone "steal" my IP address and masquerade as my computer on the internet? Do you know how I can stop this? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 202.54.248.130 (talkcontribs).
  2. Hi Dfrg.msc,
The same thing happened to me my account name is awesomepimpdan. I saw his comment lookin at how to contact you so can u tell me what is going on? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Awesomepimpdan (talkcontribs).
