Nabil Maleh (born September 28th, 1936, Damascus) is a Syrian film director, producer, writer, painter and poet. In a career spanning five decades, Maleh's films have made pioneering contributions to the history of Syrian cinema. His films address controversial issues and the human condition. He is also the creator and owner of 'Ebla Productions' a film production company.
Maleh won best director for his film The Extras at the Cairo Film Festival
He studied film in FAMU Prague
2005 Busan International Film Festival BIFF selected his film The Leopard (1972) as one of the immortal masterpieces of Asian cinema (The pantheon of Asian Cinema - The masterpieces)
