Hewalex is a Polish private enterprise located in Czechowice-Dziedzice, Poland, whose main focus is the production of flat plate and evacuated tube collectors. It is also a member of ESTIF (European Solar Thermal Industry Federation)[1]. The company specializes in both domestic applications of solar thermal collectors and big installations typically encountered in multi-family, community and public utility buildings. In 2009, Hewalex produced 40000 m² of flat plate collectors[2]. In addition to the domestic sale the company exports its products to a majority of European countries.
History
editThe beginning of the company dates back to 1990 in Bestwinka, where first pieces of flat plate collectors were produced. In subsequent years, Hewalex developed dynamically due to establishing a well structured and nationwide wholesale network, which in turn resulted in the growth of sale and turnover.
Further development of the company consisted in implementing ISO 9001:2000 quality management system, ultrasonic welding technology (EU co-financed project) and carrying out independent performance and quality certification of the collectors to meet EU standards, namely EN12975. Since then, the flat plate collectors have been labeled with Solar keymark[3] logo, widely recognized in Europe and elsewhere.
2008 brought the extension of product portfolio onto the evacuated tube solar collector. The collector has received Solar Keymark in 2010. Also in 2010, the company moved to Czechowice-Dziedzice in order to fully take advantage of the production capacity given by innovative technology of ultrasonic welding.
Present activity
editThe company has recently implemented laser beam welding technology, which allows for the production of solar absorbers composed of aluminum sheet and copper pipes as well as aluminum alone. The use of laser improves the cost-effectivenes and rate of the absorber production process with simultaneous decrease of costs by using aluminum sheet instead of copper. Currently the company employs more than 100 employees.
