Particle Beam Optics Laboratory (PBO Lab™) The Particle Beam Optics Laboratory (PBO Lab) is a suite of software programs developed for the simulation and design of particle accelerators and charged particle beam lines. PBO Lab was originally known as the Particle Beam Optics Interactive Computer Laboratory with initial development funded by the United States Department of Energy (USDOE) under Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grant number DE-FG03-94ER81767. The first version of the software was introduced to the public at the 1997 IEEE Particle Accelerator Conference ([1]).
