New article name Great Lakes Coooking is a culinary style originating in Michigan. The key ingredients used are harvested in the region of the Great Lakes in the United States and Canada. At the heart of the style is the use of ingredients that are fresh at the times of harvest or preserved for use in the fallow months of the growning season. The movement to use locally grown foods was originated by the Michigan Department of Argriculture in 2006. The strategy in forming various programs was to prop up the state's fragile economy at a time when the major American auto makers were facing bankruptcy.
