Fiber Rainbow Art
Fiber (rope) rainbow art is a novel[1] art form created by Mandi Smethells in late 2017[2]. The basic construction consists of wrapping yarn, or other material, around rope stiffened by wire prior to being attached together to make the final form[3]. The colors used to construct the rainbow range from the classic ROYGBIV to neutrals and a variety of finishing details are added (e.g., knots, trim, etc.).
Recently, this design has been adapted by others. There are several instagram hashtags that are common places to find fiber rainbows including #fiberrainbow, #rainbowwallhanging and #fiberart
