The Granite Monthly was a New Hampshire magazine focused on "history, biography, literature, and state progress" which was founded by Henry Harrison Metcalf in 1877.
Metcalf founded The Granite Monthly in 1877 while working as editor for another paper he founded called The Democratic Press, which he published until 1879. He sold The Granite Monthly for a short time to John N. McClintock while working for the The Manchester Daily Union. Metcalf purchased it back in 1892, published it for two years, and then sold it again, this time to the Republic Press Association, bought it again in 1906, and finally sold it for the last time in 1919.[1][2]
Its last issue was published in 1930.[3]
