Alto Vineyards is a family-owned and operated vineyard and winery founded in 1985 in Alto Pass, Illinois with a non-production branch opening in 2001 in Champaign, Illinois. As the oldest winery on the Shawnee Hills Wine Trail, Alto Vineyards was the first to plant now-commonly grown varieties of grapes in the region, which has since been designated as the Shawnee Hills AVA[1]. Since it's inception, Alto Vineyards has won over 700 national and international awards, and played an important role in fostering the Shawnee Hills wine making region [2].
