Mission Statement (1st edition)

edit

We at the R.E.V.E.R.T organisation are dedicated to removing vandalism and stamping out the people who do it - effectively and diligently. We believe that a vandal-free Wikipedia is a better Wikipedia, and feel that vandalism is a waste of time, space, and brings the 'pedia into disrepute. We will never find vandalism and leave it there for a bot to clean up - instead we will remove it and appropriately warn/block the culprits. And finally, we believe in working for the greater good of Wikipedia, and ensuring that it is always free of vandalism, big or small.

What R.E.V.E.R.T stands for

edit

Ok, enough of the stuffy talk. I picked the name R.E.V.E.R.T because, for one, it makes its point (come on, that's what all vandal cleaners do, revert, isn't it?) and for another, I wanted it to sound cool. It stands for Rancid Editing Vandals Eating Reverter's Trouble (yeah... it's a bit hard) and it means what I want it to mean. "Rancid" is what most people think of them (the vandals). "Editing" is there because, technically, they're also editing. "Vandals" is self explanatory, "Eating" is there because that's what they end up doing, eating trouble, "Reverter's" is self-explanatory, and "Trouble" means two things: one, the trouble members put in to rid the 'pedia of vandals, and the trouble they get into. Good name, eh?

Laws of R.E.V.E.R.T

edit

Main article: Our laws

Every club needs laws or rules or whatever name you wish to call them, and R.E.V.E.R.T is, unfortunately, no exception. So, if you want to join, I suggest you study up on these rules and think: "Do I want to follow these?" If you do (and I'm sure you will, I'm not a drill sergeant), then you're welcome? But if you DON'T, then I may have to either warn you or kick you out outright. Sorry. Hopefully, though, I won't have to do that.

R.E.V.E.R.T Members

Main Article: Our members

Want to join? Then just go to that page and sign - but I strongly recommend you read the laws first. Remember, when you join, you're joining a pretty new vandal club with serious potential... but I need help getting people to join. Tell your cabal about it! Tell other users! Tell your Wikipedian Facebook/Twitter/MySpace friends! And for every user you get to join, you get a WikiCookie with R.E.V.E.R.T written on it in orange icing (ok, not THAT far, but you know what I mean.)

R.E.V.E.R.T Blacklist

edit

Main article: Blacklist

Are there vandals who continually vandalise, even though you feel as if you have given 5000 warnings? Put their usernames or IP addresses here, so if they STILL keep going after you've asked them to stop many times, then you can put them on ANI or ask someone to block them (or, better yet, if you are an admin, then just block them yourself!) If proper action has been taken, put (blocked) next to their username and the duration, so we can keep an eye on them when the block ends. There's a further explanation of what to do on the blacklist page.
