Tom Mayer was a partner in Roxie Cinema in San Francisco 1976-1984, and a founder of Friends of 1800 Market which saved the Carmel Fallon Building at 1800 Market Street in San Francisco. He got his BA in Film Studies at Boston University in 1974, and appeared in Curt McDowell's underground film Sparkle's Tavern (1976). He lives with Wikipedia contributor Luiz DeAssis Netto.
