editShe is involved in volunteer work for the Female Convicts Research Centre Inc. (FCRC) and their publishing arm the Convict Women's Press Inc. (CWP). Her roles include:

- FCRC Treasurer
- Publications Manager
Trudy became interested in researching female convicts through doing her family history.
