The DEC700 (Japanese: DEC700形) is an experimental diesel-electric multiple unit train operated by West Japan Railway Company (JR West).
Design
editThe DEC700's traction system served as the basis for that of the DEC741 diagnostic train.[1]
History
editDetails of the DEC700 were first announced by JR West on 25 June 2021.[2]
In May 2024, JR West announced its plans to use the DEC700 to provide additional capacity on the Kishin Line on weekends and holidays from 28 September.[3]
