Madagascar (1994 film)

Wow - that's pretty impressive for a first contribution ! Do you have a special interest in that film, or are you planning to do more like that ? (By the way, I don't think you meant to flag that as minor.) -- Beardo 23:50, 8 September 2006 (UTC)

I wrote my undergraduate honors thesis on the film and have since written a few other papers on Cuban film and cultural history. I'm going to try to integrate a few more of my comments into the descriptions of other films - in particular films that I feel are not granted sufficient significance among non-Cuban audiences and critics. Are you familiar with this stuff? Perhaps you benevolently monitor it?

Thanks. I suspect that this is verging on original research, but wikipedia needs more like this, not less. It would be good if you could cite some sources (especially for the parts about ICAIC and the intended trilogy).

I don't claim any great familiarity. I haven't seen any of Perez's films yet (though I saw him speak at the premiere for El Benny - the director of that film had worked as his assistant at one stage.) -- Beardo 03:52, 10 September 2006 (UTC)

Notability question

I was just looking over the discussion on your class noticeboard and I noticed that you had pinged me about the question of notability. I thought I must have missed it, but looking though my notices I can't find it. Which is not reassuring.

I exchanged some messages with Cierra about the question of whether the restaurant was notable. Without seeing the sources, it's hard to tell for sure whether the restaurant is notable, but reviews in major publications would suggest that it is notable. The key would probably how substantively the reviews focussed on the restaurant (a few lines in passing, or several paragraphs discussing it in some depth). In the end though, of course, it becomes a question of what the AFD participants think, assuming it came to that.

In the end, of course, it boils down to whether they (and really, you) want to have the possibility of an deletion discussion in the middle of trying to create an article. It could be a good learning experience, or it could just be a distraction. And there's always the option of finishing it in a sandbox if things don't go well.

The real question is whether an article about this restaurant meets the learning objectives of this part of your class. Ian (Wiki Ed) (talk) 12:25, 23 October 2014 (UTC)

Change in your user rights

Your Wikipedia account was previously granted a user right called "course instructor" by the Wiki Education Foundation. That right enabled you to create a course page through the EducationProgram MediaWiki extension. Starting in fall 2015, the Wiki Education Foundation has discontinued its use of this extension. Going forward, users should create course pages through the Wiki Education Foundation website. That application is more user-friendly, and any content is automatically mirrored to Wikipedia. Hi Aaron, thank you for the review! I made one change I wanted to run by you, "female participation or feminine perspectives" to simply "female participation or perspectives". @Peteforsyth, sounds fine to me. Thanks for reaching out! I think the distinction I was trying to capture was relatively minor and semantic, i.e., "female" ("authored by people who identify as women") vs "feminine" ("on topics or in a tone that aligns with generally feminine identities/norms/perspectives").
