J. R. Ackerley
editI temporarily removed your comment about J. R. Ackerley not writing because he was unable to write, because it needs an explanation of why he was unable to write – did you mean, for example, that he was spending most of his time prowling the Royal Parks in search of Guardsmen?
The rest of your addition really fleshes (no pun intended) out the article well. In particular, your comments about his understanding of his sexuality are very important. Thanks. John FitzGerald 15:36, 13 Aug 2004 (UTC)
- Thank you. I think Ackerley's literary output is so small in part because of his constant search for companions, as you say, but also because he simply found himself unable to write despite locking himself away in his room for hours.
- Got it. I'll put that back in if you haven't already. I also recall him saying that he had to base We Think the World of You on events in his life because he was completely without creativity. John FitzGerald
- Exactly. Obviously he was exaggerating, but all his works were autobiographical or at least based on his own experiences as with Prisoners of War.x
