  Please do not add promotional material to Wikipedia, as you did to Patrick O'Connor (Massachusetts politician). While objective prose about beliefs, organisations, people, products or services is acceptable, Wikipedia is not intended to be a vehicle for soapboxing, advertising or promotion. Thank you. Managing a conflict of interest

edit

  Hello, Themariner12345. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the page Patrick O'Connor (Massachusetts politician), you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your COI when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Bbb23 (talk) 23:05, 24 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

Did not fully understand community guidelines at time of block. Rules are now clearly understood. No desire to edit aforementioned page(s).

Accept reason:

Welcome back. If you want to change an article for which you have a conflict of interest, you are welcome to request changes on the article's talk page, but you shouldn't edit the article directly. See Template:Request edit for details. Huon (talk) 09:22, 27 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

Then what do you intend to do instead? Huon (talk) 18:53, 25 November 2019 (UTC)Reply
What is your relationship to Sen. O'Connor? What do you intend to edit about if unblocked, since you seem to be agreeing to not edit about Sen. O'Connor? 331dot (talk) 18:55, 25 November 2019 (UTC)Reply
Huon, I'd like to enter election results for MA Politicians (not O'Connor). 331dot I know him personally and because of that would need to not edit his page, per Wiki guidelines. I'd like to enter in election results for MA Politicians. (not O'Connor)
Drmies, I'd be willing to give them a second chance; any objections? Huon (talk) 22:05, 25 November 2019 (UTC)Reply
FWIW, I'd support a second chance here as well. SQLQuery me! 00:17, 26 November 2019 (UTC)Reply
Huon, SQL, don't wait for me to respond--I might have been gone camping for much longer. You two decide however you see fit: I'm fine with it. If the editor is serious, that's great; if they're not, we'll find out soon enough. Drmies (talk) 02:32, 27 November 2019 (UTC)Reply
