Hi Brianhe, With your work related to COI, would you be willing to take a look at the quality of references and main contributor of the Fifth-wave feminism article and provide feedback when you have a chance? Thank you. Hmlarson (talk) 01:01, 26 December 2016 (UTC)

Taxesstoic

Hi, just noticed this person's edits, and I agree with you that these seem to be another attack from a persistent hoaxer. I ran into them as CompUSA back in September. Any reason why you didn't submit to AIV? I've done it now, anyway. Blythwood (talk) 02:40, 26 December 2016 (UTC)

@Blythwood: The reason is I was engaged with holiday activities. Thanks for picking it up. And do check out WP:Long-term abuse/Brightify if you haven't seen it before. Appreciate your comments if you find it persuasive, or not. Brianhe (talk) 04:03, 26 December 2016 (UTC)
@Blythwood: several new socks were blocked after the exchange above [1]. I would still appreciate your feedback on the LTA writeup, if you don't mind. - Brianhe (talk) 06:36, 31 December 2016 (UTC)
No worries. I have to admit I was wondering if there was some ANI alternative all the cool kids submitted vandalism reports to! Your report looks really interesting. Mad that someone would be so obsessive - most vandals I've encountered seem to give up after a few days at most. Blythwood (talk) 01:46, 3 January 2017 (UTC)

Canvassing

@DGG, Smartse, and Montanabw: and my stalkers. Something I did related to In The News was characterized by two regular editors there as canvassing [2][3]. A second opinion would be welcome. If I messed up I'd really like to know. If not, well... Brianhe (talk) 17:01, 29 December 2016 (UTC)

I have succeeded in avoiding ITN (because of the interminable wrangling over matters that do not actually affect WP content). I do not see why either the the workgroups mentioned should necessarily support including it, so I do not consider it canvassing. DGG ( talk ) 01:16, 30 December 2016 (UTC)
Maybe it's like if you wanted to feature the issuance of a new postage stamp by Mauritania, but the ITN regulars didn't think it was newsworthy. If editors from the stamp collecting or Mauritania Projects were recruited to show up en masse to add their opinions, you could assume that all of them are editors who think stamps and/or Mauritania are far more interesting then the general population thinks, and those editors would be prejudiced to support promoting their pet topic. But the alternative is for general purpose projects like ITN to avoid getting advice from subject specialists, because they fear the specialists will always lobby to promote their specialty. It's sad to think understanding the topic is a handicap. You'd need a new rule saying the specialists could share information about the stamps but not !vote in favor of featuring the stamp subject. I would be opposed to adding such a complicated rule. Let the stamp collectors come in and state their case. Maybe they have good points to make.

To me, the real problem is that we forget it's not a vote. It shouldn't matter that 101 stamp collecting editors showed up to cheer on the Mauritania stamp event. It isn't how many editors say it, it's whether their arguments are any good. If 100 of them pile on to repeat the same argument, it shouldn't add any weight to the first one.

But numbers do, unfortunately, sway outcomes. So maybe the decision at ITN will be less than fair. So what? Let the stamp collectors say what they think, and don't demand perfection.

An alternative would be to seek input not from stamp collectors, or Mauritania geeks, but a project comparable to ITN that also chooses articles to feature. Such as DYK, or the Portals project, Featured Images, etc. Specialists in finding things significant, rather then the subject. You'd catch less flack that way. --Dennis Bratland (talk) 04:21, 30 December 2016 (UTC)

It was not, strictly speaking, canvassing. Neutral notification of reasonably-related wikiprojects is one of the exceptions to canvassing. Your reply included this tidbit however -- "It gives the impression that ITN regulars are walling this off from people who don't know about the ITN process." That is also exactly the impression that I got, so you are not wrong, but when you flip the coin over, what do you see? What is the purpose of WikiProjectConservative, and of WikiProjectUnitedStates? To improve and collaborate on a shared interest, and to advertise one's pride in such efforts. Nobody joins a wikiproject because it is *necessary* to improving the articles in that topic-area, they join it to form a group. Thus, there is a pretty obvious (metaphorical) turf war here: the ITN regulars want to define that portion of the mainpage as their turf, and the wikiproject members want to define various portions of article-space as their turf. There is a similar sort of sociological dynamic at noticeboards that don't receive wide traffic from a broad spectrum of participants; AfD and AN/I are probably the *best* in that respect (they have a lot of eyeballs involved), but I don't think anybody can argue seriously those are not sub-optimal! Personally I recommend doing as DGG does, and concentrating on improve-the-encyclopedia-AS-an-encyclopedia. Main_page is just an advertisement or a splashpage for an encyclopedia, and although it serves a purpose of a sort -- when an article is posted to ITN there is a huge surge of readership and corresponding edits which can theoretically result in an improved encyclopedia-qua-encyclopedia -- it is no different in concept than off-wiki edit-a-thons, encouraging your facebook friends to become wikipedians, or even of SEO tactics that WMF could conceivably utilize which would improve wikipedia's standing in the google-results, or any other form of boosting wikipedia's traffic with intent to recruit potential new editors. If you prefer to stay involved with ITN-as-a-way-to-boost-wikipedia-traffic-to-certain-articles, then I would (sarcastically!) suggest spreading your notifications more broadly in the future... so that we can see the flaws in such a move. Hypothetically, if an article on some Hillary-Clinton-related news event were to come up in April 2017 for whatever reason, then notify the BLP talkpage, wikiproject democrats, and wikiproject progressives, but *also* for fairness notify wikiproject conservatives, wikiproject populism, wikiproject anarchists, and the talkpages of Bernie Sanders and Donald Trump and Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio. Which is BAD advice obviously... the people interested in anarchists over at wikiproject anarchy, will tear your head off for giving them an unreasonable notification! Damned if you do, damned if you don't, Catch-22, and so on. Best advice would be to concentrate on notification-texts that are as impeccably neutral as it is possible to make them ("because of your interest in this article / this wikiproject, you may wish to comment here on a proposal" is significantly different in the implied connotations from asking "whether the upcoming inauguration should be mentioned on the main page"). Don't specify that the proposal is to put the article on the Main_page, and also only notify the wikiprojects that are in the talkpage-header of the article in question, with the same exact impeccably neutral phrasing. If somebody claims THAT is canvassing, ask them to re-read WP:APPNOTE, or just point them to my shoddy advice here  :-) 47.222.203.135 (talk) 10:44, 1 January 2017 (UTC)
I agree with the IP comment above. Posting the link at relevant project pages is not Canvassing; offering an opinion on what to do at the link is viewed as pushing it. The canvassing rules are inconsistent in both structure and application, but the weight of actual use is that posting a neutrally-phrased "of interest" notice at project talk of projects tagged for the article in question is clearly acceptable. (Actually, I think such notice should be encouraged and sometimes required, but that's a different discussion). Posting to projects not tagged at the article is more of a gray area, but if you want to be "CYA on NPOV and ABCDEFG", then post to one untagged project on each "side" of the issue and let others take it from there. Montanabw(talk) 17:51, 2 January 2017 (UTC)
Thanks Dennis Bratland, Montanabw and 47.222 (Can I abbreviate?). In the interest of greater perceived neutrality I posted identical heads-up to the US Government and Hilary Clinton projects. I hope the latter isn't seen as needling people but I can always point to this conversation as evidence of good faith (we hope). The thing is a tempest in a teacup as far as I'm concerned, there hasn't been any new reaction or input at the ITN board since I posted my last reply there saying I was unhappy with the canvassing label. Seriously I don't care whether it appears at ITN or not, but hoped that we'd avoid day-before drama by getting a discussion under way. - Brianhe (talk) 20:02, 2 January 2017 (UTC)
Abbreviate away, call me anything (except don't call me late to dinner). You can also 'abbreviate' my long piece of advice for 72bikers if you like (below), they reverted my overture to them on their own user-talkpage without an edit summary, so I expect they are not likely to be receptive (hence not pinging them in this comment). And yes, I'm sure that the wider posting to additional wikiprojects will only get you in more 'trouble' despite ABCDEFG -- damned if you do, damned if you don't, as I mentioned before! Plus you made the fatal spelling error of saying 'Hilary Clinton' just above, which proves you are a bad faith naughty editor with a devious agenda  :-) 47.222.203.135 (talk) 12:33, 5 January 2017 (UTC)

Fake warnings

Please stay off my talk page as you were ask to do in the past, you are not welcome there with your inappropriate warnings. Keep any interaction with me to a article talk page that is more than sufficient. You should have as you very well know not tampered with my article talk page edits. The reverts done to the puppet accounts that collapsed my comments were days old and in no danger of the WP:3RR violation. It is also highly suspicious that they used your same inept reasoning to do so. Also with all of your derogatory statements about me on article talk pages your distaste of me is clear, so one would have to interpret your actions as just confrontational in a effort to solely provoke me. Do I really need to go to a noticeboard and get a admin involved? 72bikers (talk) 02:03, 31 December 2016 (UTC)

I have no idea what noticeboard you would relate this information to. Please enlighten me. - Brianhe (talk) 21:35, 31 December 2016 (UTC)
Uhh, hmmm. Talkpage drive-by comment, by somebody who has NOT looked into the backstory here sufficiently, so take with a pound of salt please:
Helpful advice but, sadly, ignored

72bikers, although it looks like you have been on wikipedia for some time now, since October 2015 if I'm reading the logfiles correctly, there are some things I feel I ought to point out. If you want to hear straight from an administrator, here is a way to start -- Wikipedia:Requests_for_administrator_attention#informal_advice -- but if you just want my non-admin opinion, you are in the right place  :-)

  • First of all, you are 100% free to ask Brianhe, or anybody else, to stay off your userpage (with the exception of in some cases that they will be required to notify you thataway if they have reported your username to a noticeboard for instance). If you think that he is doing you wrong in a way that is a violation of WP:PAG, then you can always open up a conversation with any WP:ADMIN on their user-talkpage, or use a noticeboard like WP:AN/I for clear problems. Shutting down talkpage-access to another wikipedian is not always the best way to go about your wikipedia-related pursuits, I will point out, because the only legit way for another wikipedian to talk to you about behavior, is on user-talkpages, or at noticeboards, so if you refuse to chat on user-talkpages things are more likely to escalate rather than de-escalate, in my experience. Recommend thinking over whether it really is the best way forward, long-term, or if you instead someday might want to retract the mandate for Brianhe to stay off your usertalkpage, at some point.
  • As for one editor changing the talkpage-comments made by another editor, that is USUALLY frowned upon, but in rare circumstances is appropriate... for instance, just the other day I modified some talkpage comments by *two* other editors, because one of them had replied in the middle of a comment by the first, which broke the numbering and the signature-stuff. So for technical reasons, I made some fixes to keep the talkpage-conversation tidy. Which is okay to do. No idea what Brianhe was doing, I haven't looked into the backstory, but please WP:Assume_good_faith that he was trying to make an improvement. If you don't want him touching your user-talkpage, or your article-talkpage-comments, you can just ask him nicely not to do it, and barring some rare cases (e.g. removal of WP:LIBEL or something serious like that) I'm sure he will be happy to let you fix your own commentary as you wish. If you think the WP:WIKIQUETTE has been violated badly enough that an admin is needed, well, see the note above -- you can always open up a conversation with any WP:ADMIN on their user-talkpage, or use a noticeboard like WP:AN/I for clear problems. But talkpage formatting is pretty minor, in the grand scheme of things, right? No matter who does the edits, they don't screw up mainspace, usually....
  • It is permissible to revert WP:SOCKPUPPET edits, without technically violating 3RR, but it is only a good idea to do such things when 1) it is pretty important and cannot wait, and also 2) you are 100% sure-fire-positive no possibility of error that you ARE in fact dealing with a sockpuppet...
  • ...and on that note, implying that another wikipedian *might* be responsible for the edits made by what you characterized as a sockpuppet, on the basis that they share the same opinion, is considered extremely bad form. If you want to accuse somebody of being the operator of a WP:SOCKPUPPET username, then you really need to take the discussion directly to an administrator, pick somebody to ask advice of at WP:ADMIN (they can give you a good answer as to whether you ought to file a formal request), and if you need to, you can file a formal request at WP:SPI which is the place where 'checkuser' admins can verify if there is a connection between two usernames, or not. This is not something to take lightly though, unlike talkpage-formatting-disagreements, sockpuppetry is a serious thing, and from having seen Brianhe before I can say without reservation that Brianhe is definitely not operating any illegitimate sockpuppet usernames. You don't have to take my word for it 72bikers, you can ask any admin for their opinion, or you can just look at the user-contribs for Brianhe, and see for yourself.[4] Time spent on wikipedia is not the same thing as being correct on all content-dispute-issues obviously, which is why Anyone Can Edit and may the sources win, but if you look at the character and quality of the edit-history for a username, you can sniff out a sockpuppet-master versus a good-faith editor, and Brianhe does NOT have even the slightest smell like gym-socks or winter-socks or that sort of thing. This is a judgement call, I don't have any special admin-powers, but I can say, flat out, this is a non-worry, so please set your mind at ease. If there is an overlap in reasoning, it is because two wikipedians followed the same chain of logic, that is all.
  • As for the allegedly derogatory statements about another wikipedian (I have not looked so I have no opinion as to whether they were or were not derogatory), or the allegedly confrontational behaviors with respect to a particular wikipedian (again I have not looked into this and have no opinion), the advice is the same as before -- if truly necessary, speak with one of the WP:ADMINs on their user-talkpages, explaining you are having a difficulty with another user and would like advice on whether or not what you perceive as problematic *is* problematic in that admin's opinion, or not. Pretty much every admin on wikipedia will give you a straight answer -- if you don't get the answer you like, then please consider that maybe perception is not aligning with reality, and that the admin is giving it to you as best they are able. If an admin says there is a problem, they will help you solve the problem or point you somewhere to get such help (blatant violations of civility can be reported at WP:AN/I which is a generic place that lots of admins watch although mostly only warnings result unless the pattern is severe and repeated), but on the other hand, if the admin says there is no problem best to just drop the matter. (Of course, if on the 3rd hand the admin does not respond at all to your question for a few days, you can just ask the question of a different admin -- sometimes admins are busy or on vacation too, so you do not have to consider 'no response' as implying 'no problem exists'). But my advice as far as alleged violations of WP:5P4 is simple -- usually there is no need to seek help from admins, as long as YOU are staying cool yourself, and remaining omnidirectionally polite-n-friendly to all your fellow wikipedians, then the usual WP:BRD and if needed WP:3o and WP:RfC procedures will get things worked out. No need to call in the people with the administrative badges, in 99% of those cases things can be worked out.
So in a nutshell, 72bikers, please find the list of pertinent noticeboards above. This reply was mostly for 72bikers of course, but if you really had forgotten about AN/I and SPI, then consider yourself enlightened Brianhe :-) And if you were being sarcastic, well, don't do that, please re-read WP:SARCASM, especially the bit about "may still be unrecognized or unappreciated by their target audience." The goal here is to improve mainspace, and that won't occur with one-liners on usertalk, methinks. Also see WP:DTA and WP:BITE, por favor; both apply, since although it takes more than a year to learn all the stupidly-intricate wikipedia rules nowadays, which means that 72bikers is definitely no beginner since they've been here since October 2015 at least, simultaneously it is also the case that 14 months of editing is still a spring chicken, compared to old-timers at least, and being grumpy helps nobody. And yes, I realize that 72bikers is not assuming good faith in some of their comments, but WP:AGF takes a *long* time to really learn, so cut them some slack please. I am happy to try and help defuse, if desired, but I think that ninja means black pajamas, not motorized two-wheeled vehicle, so be forewarned that my content-dispute capacity might easily be overwhelmed!

72bikers, you can bug me on my own usertalk page if none of the stuff above makes sense (or any time really), or if you prefer you can keep the conversation here, Brianhe knows (at least subconsciously :-) all the stuff I just brought up, as well, and can answer questions or explain stuff, or at least give pointers to pages which do explain if time does not permit jamming out a handwritten explanation. See also the handy list of contact-an-admin-about-XYZ using the {{Admin help}} thing mentioned at WP:RAA#informal_advice, and other mechanisms listed elsewhere on that help-page. 47.222.203.135 (talk) 11:57, 1 January 2017 (UTC)

Bushwacker rewrite

Hi Brianhe! Nice to talk to you again, hope you had a great holiday. I noticed you did a rewrite of Bushwacker, that's great. I have been doing rewrites of all the bucking bull articles, but that's great you did that one. Obviously, I don't own them-I didn't create them. But to let you know, I have a copy of Chicken on a Chain in my sandbox and it's almost finished being rewritten, so if you could please leave that one if you were thinking of working on it. I should be updating it by tomorrow. It would be much appreciated so I don't have done all the rewriting and expansion of it for nothing... I was also planning to work on the others but if you want to I just ask that you could let me know is all. Thanks so much. Nice rewrite on Bushwacker, btw. Also, the things we talked about on montanabw page about users finding the page was never resolved. That the disambiguation. I tried to figure it out myself, but I still haven't quite got the knack of it yet. dawnleelynn(talk) 17:33, 2 January 2017 (UTC)

P.S. About 1/3 or a bit more of the content in the live aticle of Chicken on a Chain is copied word for word from two existing Professional Bull Rider's articles, so that is another reason why just a rewrite is not enough. .... dawnleelynn(talk) 17:36, 2 January 2017 (UTC)

No problem. It might be helpful if you put a {{under construction}} or {{in use}} on the article while you are editing it, to avoid edit conflicts with others (like me). - Brianhe (talk) 20:10, 2 January 2017 (UTC)
Hey, thanks for the quick response. Only been here about 3 months as an editor. Didn't know about the tags you just mentioned, so yes, great idea. I will do so in the future. I really don't like to dig up an article all over the place live when I'm doing a significant expansion of it that takes several days, sure you can understand. If it's just a day or two, that's different. And I forgot to say before Happy New Year! dawnleelynn(talk) 21:04, 2 January 2017 (UTC)

Your e-mail

All four blocked + an earlier one.--Bbb23 (talk) 01:54, 4 January 2017 (UTC)

@Bbb23: much appreciated. What is about the AfD they launched? It appears the only other participant is anonymous. - Brianhe (talk) 02:03, 4 January 2017 (UTC)
There's no policy basis for my taking any action. I can't say anything about the IP.--Bbb23 (talk) 03:16, 4 January 2017 (UTC)

"420" collaboration

BTW, not sure if you'd be interested, but some WikiProject Cannabis participants want to organize a 420 collaboration in April. Could be really interesting to see who elects to participate and what articles are improved (could be anything from culture to law to politics to medicine). ---Another Believer (Talk) 22:43, 9 January 2017 (UTC)

You bet! I'll go sign up. This is 100% virtual presence I assume? - Brianhe (talk) 22:45, 9 January 2017 (UTC)
Yes, unless anyone decides to organize local meetups. I welcome all ideas and would support whatever people want to do. I think I might go to a shop and photograph lots of cannabis strains, in an effort to contribute to Commons, too. ---Another Believer (Talk) 22:48, 9 January 2017 (UTC)
@Another Believer: Thoughts on how to link from the redlinks list to drafts created for this effort? I have some thoughts on translation and/or expansion of a German lang article (Entwurf eines Cannabiskontrollgesetzes, descheduling from Betäubungsmittelgesetz). - Brianhe (talk) 20:10, 25 January 2017 (UTC)
I'm not sure what you're asking exactly, but other editors are adding red links (and showing which missing articles have counterparts at other language Wikipedias) at Wikipedia:WikiProject Cannabis/Redlinks. This list is currently collapsed on the campaign page, but will be uncollapsed in April. We will then add a "Results" section where editors can add their contributions (new and improved articles, images, etc.) Does this answer your question? If not, let me know. You are also welcome to start using the "420" collaboration's talk page to initiate related discussion since there are a handful of participants signed up. I'm actually really looking forward to this collaboration now, and I'm hoping many more editors will find their way to this project and contribute in April. ---Another Believer (Talk) 20:14, 25 January 2017 (UTC)
The question really is what to do with a link to draft for an article that doesn't yet exist. List it next to the redlink?
I may have recruited someone to do some more pictures up here. Should I point them to you to coordinate? - Brianhe (talk) 20:38, 25 January 2017 (UTC)
Sure, you can list drafts next to red links, and direct any potential 420 collaboration contributors to me. Thanks! ---Another Believer (Talk) 21:37, 25 January 2017 (UTC)

Re: Draft:Hemp hurds. First of all, thank you for creating this article. I removed the talk page category, however, since the 420 collaboration isn't taking place until the second half of April. Maybe we can add a "Drafts" section on the project page to show ongoing works in progress for folks to work on during the campaign? ---Another Believer (Talk) 03:42, 30 January 2017 (UTC)

I went ahead and created the subsection. ---Another Believer (Talk) 03:46, 30 January 2017 (UTC)

Closure of COI case

Consensus was not that it was a content dispute, the user has issues with the english language and disruptive editing. I suggest you re-edit your closure. Duqsene (talk) 20:39, 10 January 2017 (UTC)

Sure, it now reads "this is a POV/content issue to be resolved through consensus editing process or, failing that, DRN". I left out the WP:CIR issue becuase, frankly, I think that would just start another round of arguing. - Brianhe (talk) 20:53, 10 January 2017 (UTC)
Thanks. Duqsene (talk) 22:05, 10 January 2017 (UTC)

Duqsene, I do not think personal attack would solve any issues. @ Brianhe please note that I have been trying hard to reach consensus with Duqsene in the article Sultanate of Showa [5][6]and user seems not interested to respond to my questions so that his reasoning to delete sourced content is clear, and once the issue is clear then I thought may be I could address them before requesting other editors intervention. Even after I have listed over 7 reasons for the importance of including the disputed content user seems to focus on the editor instead of dealing with the content presented. As for the personal attack by Robert claiming I have "nationalistic outburst", well I have requested for clarification as to why he said that, and so far user did not clarify and explained how my comments are regarded as "nationalistic outburst" (and for which nationalisitc group) by providing diffs. I believe an editor needs to know what he is talking about and not just repeat what other editors have said by not analysing what they are talking about. — EthiopianHabesha (talk) 13:47, 11 January 2017 (UTC)

I'm sorry, I have no idea what you're asking me to do here. If it's getting involved in this case again, I'm not interested. You can file a new case at COI noticeboard if you feel you must and I won't get involved again. - Brianhe (talk) 14:17, 11 January 2017 (UTC)

John Bohlinger (musician)

Hi Brianhe:

I received a warning from you about the John Bohlinger (Musician) page. I want to clear up any misunderstanding.

The majority of this wiki page came from a journalist named Aaron Barnhart who wrote an article about me for Montana Quarterly:

I've been the music director/ band leader for many TV shows over the past 15 years, and I am a writer and primary video contributor for Premier Guitar magazine.

I do add to my wiki page as my list of work grows, but I will stop doing that if that is discouraged. Premier Guitar could do it in the future for me

If there's anything you need from me to verify the information on my wiki page, I'm happy to get it for you.

I'm not really sure if this is how one contacts you. If there's a better way, please let me know.

Thanks john — Preceding unsigned comment added by Johnbohlinger (talkcontribs) 00:28, 10 January 2017 (UTC)

@Johnbohlinger: It wouldn't really be better if someone at Premier Guitar adds information to the article because there's also a conflict of interest in that instance. The best way forward is to suggest changes at the talkpage, Talk:John Bohlinger (musician). Best - Brianhe (talk) 01:44, 11 January 2017 (UTC)

A barnstar for you!

  The Original Barnstar
Just wanted to say thanks for your help with the Florida Amendment 2 (2016) article. It's helped me with references towards the advancement of my education. Cheers! Tkratzer (talk) 02:51, 17 January 2017 (UTC)

@Tkratzer: Thanks for the barnstar and it was a pleasure to collaborate. Glad to hear it was a good experience for you. Another Believer might want to get in touch with you for an April project he's helping to coordinate. - Brianhe (talk) 07:07, 17 January 2017 (UTC)

Recognise this?

Some guy's mug

I found it via Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Frogg92477 but I'm certain I've seen it somewhere else before Kevin Lawrence was created and closer to when it was uploaded by the subject in 2015. It's annoying me... Tried various titles like Kevin Lawrence (bodybuilder) with no joy. SmartSE (talk) 18:10, 17 January 2017 (UTC)

Afraid I don't recognize the person in the photo. Something about weightlifters reminded me of a past case at COIN or something, but I couldn't find it again in a 5 minute search. - Brianhe (talk) 05:01, 18 January 2017 (UTC)
Ah well worth a shot. Thanks for looking. Have you had run ins with Kavdiamanju (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log)? At ANI for UPE at the moment. I'd checked their contribs before, but not sure what it was in relation to. SmartSE (talk) 13:48, 18 January 2017 (UTC)
@Smartse: Yes, I invited him via his talkpage to comment on the discussion now archived at Wikipedia:Conflict of interest/Noticeboard/Archive 108#Investment software stuff, but he did not. I suspected the editing on those articles was coordinated but it never got traction at the noticeboard. Brianhe (talk) 14:10, 18 January 2017 (UTC)
@Smartse: I suspect the image was probably in the now deleted Draft:Kevin Lawrence which had been submitted to AfC and rejected in October 2015. See User talk:Nmwalsh/Archive 3#Your submission at Articles for creation: Kevin Lawrence (October 30). The creator, Nmwalsh (talk+ · tag · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log · CA · CheckUser(log· investigate · cuwiki), was a self-declared paid editor and was blocked in Nov. 2016 for abusing multiple accounts. Thanks! That makes a lot of sense, given Bilby blocked the article creator as a sock of Nmwalsh. Knew I'd seen it somewhere!
And Brian - yeah I came across that after asking you but don't recognise that. hey ho. SmartSE (talk) 14:36, 18 January 2017 (UTC)

Are you a German speaker? Active on de.wikipedia?

Hello Brianhe, I noticed you've been translating some German materials; are you a native speaker and/or active on de.wikipedia?

The reason I ask is that I created a category tree for Category:Cannabis by country over at de.wikipedia a few months back, and it was nominated for deletion in what was apparently a *very* lengthy argument involving much larger disputes. Not to drag you into the fight, but if you have a chance to look at de:Wikipedia_Diskussion:WikiProjekt_Kategorien#Kategorie:Hanf_nach_Staat, I'm curious whether it would eventually be worth re-litigating the issue of whether de.wikipedia should have a "cannabis by country" tree like we have in 17 languages now (admittedly 15 of those created by me). No pressure and no hurry, just bringing it to your attention. Goonsquad LCpl Mulvaney (talk) 00:44, 31 January 2017 (UTC)

Yes I do translate German articles from time to time, also a few other languages (the most exotic being Bulgarian -- see list). I don't think my language skills are up to a deep philosophical debate on how to prune the hemp tree (ha ha) which is what it appears to have become. They'll probably figure out what's right on de.wiki if not now, then later. You know there are some structural differences on de.wiki, including different notability standards? - Brianhe (talk) 18:58, 31 January 2017 (UTC)
Yeah, de.wiki definitely has it's own thing going on, so I figure I'll just leave them be for now. I'm a little annoyed that both de. and ru. apparently have a grudge against "by country" cats since for all kinds of subjects I find them very useful, but I guess I just need to change where I can when I can and be satisfied with that. I've relisted an RfC that was run at WT:Admin in Sept. 2015. It is at Wikipedia talk:Conflict of interest#Concrete proposal 3 as there are a number of similar proposals going on at the same place. Better to keep them together. Smallbones(smalltalk) 04:47, 5 February 2017 (UTC)

New Page Review - newsletter No.2

Hello Bri,

A HUGE backlog

We now have 805 New Page Reviewers!
Most of us requested the user right at PERM, expressing a wish to be able to do something about the huge backlog, but the chart on the right does not demonstrate any changes to the pre-user-right levels of October.

Hitting 17,000 soon

The backlog is still steadily growing at a rate of 150 a day or 4,650 a month. Only 20 reviews a day by each reviewer over the next few days would bring the backlog down to a managable level and the daily input can then be processed by each reviewer doing only 2 or 3 reviews a day - that's about 5 minutes work!
It didn't work in time to relax for the Xmas/New Year holidays. Let's see if we can achieve our goal before Easter, otherwise by Thanksgiving it will be closer to 70,000.

Second set of eyes

Remember that we are the only guardians of quality of new articles, we alone have to ensure that pages are being correctly tagged by non-Reviewer patrollers and that new authors are not being bitten.

Abuse

This is even more important and extra vigilance is required considering Orangemoody, and

  1. this very recent case of paid advertising by a Reviewer resulting in a community ban.
  2. this case in January of paid advertising by a Reviewer, also resulting in a community ban.
  3. This Reviewer is indefinitely blocked for sockpuppetry.

Coordinator election

Kudpung is stepping down after 6 years as unofficial coordinator of New Page Patrolling/Reviewing. There is enough work for two people and two coords are now required. Details are at NPR Coordinators; nominate someone or nominate yourself. Date for the actual suffrage will be published later.

Re New England Conservatory Page

Hi Brian, the edit that I made to the New England Conservatory's wikipedia page is to include a reference to the vocal pedagogy program. This program exists and offers degrees: see website. The link I included is the official website and blog for that program, and is also an active link on the official NEC website page that I just linked to. I would appreciate your reinstating my edit, unless there is a different issue that I do not understand. All best, Ian

Your quoted message:

"Hello, I'm Brianhe. I wanted to let you know that one or more external links you added to New England Conservatory of Music have been removed because they seemed to be inappropriate for an encyclopedia. Film stubs

You might have noticed the recent PROD which made me have a look at some articles that use the same citation. Before we have more unproductive interactions around these things, can you offer an explanation as to how any of these meet WP:NFILM? Being mentioned at Gomolo.com and one BFI index don't confer notability, right? I feel like AGF, I must be missing something here.

...

You obviously know there are many more like these. Also note that I have challenged gomolo.com at RSN. - Bri (talk) 17:09, 15 March 2017 (UTC)

Let's discuss this here. There's loads of films needing expansion yup. They'll mostly be acceptable if fleshed out a little, ask Kaayay. I'm not bothered if you want to delete all of the stubs like this, but a lot will be notable.♦ Dr. Blofeld 17:28, 15 March 2017 (UTC)
@Dr. Blofeld: thanks a ton for replying quickly. Honestly when I PRODded the first thing it was because a sock had visited it; I didn't notice until it was time to post a note to the creator that it was you. Let me ponder this for a bit, and maybe a contributor to the RSN discussion or one of our stalkers will chime in with some words of wisdom. - Bri (talk) 18:02, 15 March 2017 (UTC)
The idea was to try to reduce the bias bit and cover more older films, but often creating the stubs makes no difference. A lot get expanded, a lot don't, probably the majority. The problem is that some of them no doubt were notable films at the time but being 1942 in India, not exactly going to have an abundance of material online.♦ Dr. Blofeld 18:05, 15 March 2017 (UTC)

Cannabis/US drafts

Will be great to move some of these cannabis- and U.S.-related drafts to the main space in April, which will count towards both the 420 collaboration and the ongoing 50,000 Challenge. ---Another Believer (Talk) 20:24, 15 March 2017 (UTC)

@Another Believer: You bet it will, I've been stashing those drafts for a reason :) Hey on a related note do you think it would be a net positive if we asked some net celebs to mention the project? - Bri (talk) 20:25, 20 March 2017 (UTC)
I'd say... yes? I think outreach is always a good thing as long as the purpose and goals of the collaboration are articulated. ---Another Believer (Talk) 20:26, 20 March 2017 (UTC)
So I was thinking a note to some Weedtubers would be pretty easy ... they are on multiple social media after all. Or someone in the collaboration may know one personally. I'm sure there are several in the Seattle/Portland/Vancouver area. - Bri (talk) 20:29, 20 March 2017 (UTC)
I think that's a great idea. I know Goonsquad LCpl Mulvaney plans to contact some outlets, and I am working with a cannabis activist to contact others, so if you feel inclined to spread the word to Weedtubers, I think that's great! ---Another Believer (Talk) 21:01, 20 March 2017 (UTC)

Would it be alright for me to use this symbol you created next to my cannabis-related listings at WPUS50? ( ) ---Another Believer (Talk) 22:50, 14 April 2017 (UTC)

Of course! Reuse anything in my user space. Bri (talk) 23:13, 14 April 2017 (UTC)

I'm looking for someone with common sense to rescue People's Climate March (2017) from speedy deletion. This article mentions 30+ planned demonstrations next weekend, but some editors have decided it's too soon for this article (despite the GA promotion of Not My Presidents Day, the existence of Tax March prior to the day of, and the existence of March for Science, which has not yet taken place). Would you be willing to remove the speedy delete tag? If not, no problem, just thought I'd ask. ---Another Believer (Talk) 19:38, 21 April 2017 (UTC)

sigh See also: Cannabis policy of the Donald Trump administration. ---Another Believer (Talk) 21:36, 21 April 2017 (UTC)
Jeesh, I take a break for a few hours and look what happens :) It was a bad G4 for the reason in my edit summary [7]. - Bri (talk) 22:22, 21 April 2017 (UTC)
Thank you very much. I'm convinced this user, who also just merged LGBT protests against Donald Trump, is trying to make me pull what's left of my hair out! ---Another Believer (Talk) 22:24, 21 April 2017 (UTC)
Remember what I said, Illegitimi non carborundum. It goes well to the tune of Ride of the Valkyries, if that helps. - Bri (talk) 22:29, 21 April 2017 (UTC)
Thanks. :) Doesn't change the fact that now I have about 7 articles I'm having to scramble to expand and defend unnecessarily... Just frustrating, that's all. ---Another Believer (Talk) 22:50, 21 April 2017 (UTC)

Nomination for deletion of Slate Star Codex

As you have edited the Slate Star Codex article, I thought you might be interested to know that it has been nominated for deletion. I was notified by the nominator, but it doesn't look like you were, so I am rectifying that situation by leaving this comment. Please note that deletion discussions are not votes, and closing administrators might pay greater attention to comments referencing Wikipedia policies and guidelines than to those that don't, or those that simply restate points already made. It's also worth noting that deletion discussions are said to typically remain open for at least 7 days, except in cases where credible grounds for speedy deletion are identified.--greenrd (talk) 21:14, 20 March 2017 (UTC)

Neptune Theatre

Want to try for a joint DYK? I have a few ideas for a hook, some of which will require some information gathering and inclusion into the article. SounderBruce 00:29, 22 March 2017 (UTC)

Bruce, you bet! I like the Rocky Horror hook but it's kind of nostalgic for me and I don't know how it would go with people not from that place and time. We should nail down the date though -- we have one source saying they played it through 1993, and I think it went on even after that. One other possible hook, it supposedly had the biggest theater organ on the West Coast but I couldn't quite get a solid citation for that (it appeared once in a Google Books snippets view). - Bri (talk) 00:32, 22 March 2017 (UTC)
I'll look into the organ bit and see what I can find on my end. I'm going to write up the theater's architecture and clean up the existing content (which is a mish-mash of our writing styles) in the mean time. I have also yet to see Rocky Horror, so I should probably get around to doing that. SounderBruce 00:34, 22 March 2017 (UTC)
Bruce, is it ready to nom for DYK? There's only about a day left. Bri (talk) 00:45, 24 March 2017 (UTC)
Yes, I believe it is. The architectural details can be left to a later edit, possibly to bring it up to GA status. SounderBruce 01:55, 24 March 2017 (UTC)

COIN

Hi! I noticed that you flagged my request in COIN as inappropriate for that forum. Is this a new policy development? I've previously posted similar requests in the past, per this flowchart created by Corporate Representatives for Ethical Wikipedia Engagement. I want to make sure I'm following the current standards. Do you know if a better location exists to raise such requests? Thank you! Mary Gaulke (talk) 03:06, 7 April 2017 (UTC)

Briefly, because of this description at the top of the page: "This Conflict of interest/Noticeboard (COIN) page is for determining whether a specific editor has a conflict of interest (COI) for a specific article and whether an edit by a COIN-declared COI editor does not meet a requirement of the Conflict of Interest guideline." Asking for assistance with paid editing does not meet this description. - Bri (talk) 16:01, 7 April 2017 (UTC)
By the way, requested edits are already listed at top of the noticeboard, under the search box. I don't think the process is enhanced by additionally listing the request as an open conflict-of-interest investigation. - Bri (talk) 18:28, 7 April 2017 (UTC)

You know, I'd encourage this; I was neutral for you the last time around, but I feel bad about that --it was because we'd gotten into a silly dispute over the Indian Chief thing; I now know you a lot better and had a blast working with you on the cow-tipping article; you'd be a great wielder of the mop and you'd have my wholehearted support. Also, we really do need to consider if pancake breakfast should be a GA (or maybe Pendleton Roundup). Montanabw(talk) 23:53, 16 April 2017 (UTC)
@Anna Frodesiak and Montanabw: I've been thinking of how to respond to this. Folks seem to be fond of long diatribes about all the things wrong with Wikipedia and Wikipedians, and I'm not about that. Considered Promena Movement bg translation?

Do I recall right that you know Bulgarian? Have you considered knocking out a translation of Promena Movement from Bulgarian before we close out? I'm in the middle of a cross-country/international move so been really tied up (been doing a lot of editing by phone in the car when not on driving shift), but will aim to start drafts of any Spanish/Catalan/French translation redlinks so I can knock them out before we close the collab at month's end. Anuradha Bhattacharyya

Daniel forwarded me to you Bri. 2 years ago I had created a page 'Anuradha Bhattacharyya'. She had 5 published books to her credit. However, there was no mention of her name in any newspapers then (except in The Hans as a participant poet in a poetry festival). Now she has 2 more books. The novel One Word has won a government prize in her state. All the newspapers in English, Hindi and Punjabi mention the 'Chandigarh Sahitya Akademi honour for writers/authors'. In the photograph, she is standing in the middle. Her name is spelt 'Anuradha Bhattacharya' which is a sub-editor's error. Bengalis do not spell it wrong; Punjabis do. Still there are 3 distinct sources which say that Anuradha Bhattacharyya has received the Chandigarh Sahitya Akademi Award for Best Book in 2016 for her novel One Word. I think this makes her notable. Please publish the page I had created. Here are the links:

I think I created another page by the name Anuradha Bhattacharyya. Daniel asked me to contact Bri, I can't understand why. The page I had created was 'saved' somewhere in its unpublished form. I couldn't learn how to restore it or edit it. Can you help by checking out with Daniel. DGG told me i was Daniel who deleted the page under 'speedy deletion'. AtulAtul Bhattacharyya (talk) 07:20, 2 May 2017 (UTC)

Dear Bri, it seems that I created the page again. It does not look proper. I am editing it to make it look good. AtulAtul Bhattacharyya (talk) 07:23, 2 May 2017 (UTC)

Sorry ! I finally found the link to 'request undeletion'. I blanked out the new page that I created by mistake. Now I don't know how to remove it to trash. AtulAtul Bhattacharyya (talk) 07:30, 2 May 2017 (UTC)

An administrator should notice that you blanked the page, and delete it, unless someone else has edited it in the meantime. If you want to accelerate it, you can label it yourself with {{db-self}}. More details on how to delete are at Wikipedia:Deletion process. - Bri (talk) 17:59, 2 May 2017 (UTC)

DONE. Thanks a lot. AtulAtul Bhattacharyya (talk) 08:55, 4 May 2017 (UTC)

Presented in honor of contributions toward WikiProject Cannabis' 420 Collaboration (2017). Apologies for the late delivery, but I wanted to thank you for your many wonderful contributions to the first "420 Collaboration", which was a great success, in my humble opinion. Art+Feminism, Saturday, May 6, at Jacob Lawrence Gallery, UW Seattle

Art+Feminism Wikipedia Edit-a-Thon

Despite its wide reach, content on Wikipedia suffers from the bias of its editors: white, technically inclined, English-speaking men that live in developed, majority-Christian countries. This represents an alarming absence of voices in an increasingly important repository of shared knowledge.

In an effort to change this, the Jake is organizing a Wikipedia Edit-a-thon on Saturday, May 6th, 1 - 5 pm. Our mission is to bring together diverse communities to participate in Wikipedia editing, and improve its coverage of queer people and women of color in the arts.

We will provide childcare, snacks, and tutorials for the beginner editor.

Bring your laptop, power-cord and ideas for entries that need updating or creation. No previous Wikipedia experience required!

RSVP at and stay tuned to our Facebook page for updates.

What: Improving Wikipedia's coverage on queer and women artists of color
When: Saturday, May 6, 1-5pm
Where: Jacob Lawrence Gallery, Art Building #132, 1915 NE Chelan Ln, Seattle, WA 98105
Who: People of all gender identities and expressions are invited to participate.
What to bring: A laptop and power cord. Access to UW wifi will be provided for non-UW affliated participants.

Thanks!

Thanks for your work on the Jolene Rickard article!

However, it needs more work to summarize 3 sections, pronto, which a novice editor cut-and-pasted from a site that is now archived here. Since she seemed very enthusiastic, I thought she would follow through, but since the Art + Feminism event, she hasn't been editing. Check out Earwig's analysis.

I'm in the throes of a kitchen renovation and haven't time this week to make the necessary summaries. Do you have time to work on the article a bit more? Cheers! —Grand'mere Eugene (talk) 02:34, 7 May 2017 (UTC)

Roger, I'll do it. - Bri (talk) 02:35, 7 May 2017 (UTC)
Scrubbed the bibliography list which was the source of most of the copying. Although, realistically, I think that qualifies as fair use. In any event please let me know if you think it needs more. - Bri (talk) 02:58, 7 May 2017 (UTC)

Page mover granted

Hello, Bri. Your account has been granted the "extendedmover" user right, either following a request for it or demonstrating familiarity with working with article names and moving pages. You are now able to rename pages without leaving behind a redirect, and move subpages when moving the parent page(s).

Please take a moment to review Wikipedia:Page mover for more information on this user right, especially the criteria for moving pages without leaving redirect. Please remember to follow post-move cleanup procedures and make link corrections where necessary, including broken double-redirects when suppressredirect is used. This can be done using Special:WhatLinksHere. It is also very important that no one else be allowed to access your account, so you should consider taking a few moments to secure your password. As with all user rights, be aware that if abused, or used in controversial ways without consensus, your page mover status can be revoked.

Replaceable fair use File:Jefferson hemp quote image macro.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Jefferson hemp quote image macro.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. – Train2104 (t • c) 11:20, 11 May 2017 (UTC)

@Bilingual2000: Before I do that, are you up to date with your paid disclosure arrangements? This is an important issue to me. - Bri (talk) 15:12, 18 May 2017 (UTC)

@Bri, I am not directly related to the subject but have keen interest to update data about people I adore as role models in diverse fields. If I could get in touch with at least his sub-ordinates, then I won't have to search and find references from online at my own. I am grateful to a Business person from my country, who has never got involved in scams or tax evasion cases but done a lot to encourage sports/cultural events. Each and every event by them creates temporary employment opportunities for many, especially the workers from the lower income group. I may display the COI disclosure at my talk page tomorrow. Since rolling out the right in November, just 6 months ago, we now have 805 reviewers, but the backlog is still mysteriously growing fast. If every reviewer did just 55 reviews, the 22,000 backlog would be gone, in a flash, schwoop, just like that!

But do remember: Rather than speed, quality and depth of patrolling and the use of correct CSD criteria are essential to good reviewing. Do not over-tag. Make use of the message feature to let the creator know about your maintenance tags. See the tutorial again HERE. Get help HERE.

Question about Jim Nyamu entry

I am a major contributor to the bio of a living person, Jim Nyamu. I've recently been contacted by Mr. Nyamu, which raises questions. He and I have had minor interactions in the past; i.e., he has liked some of my tweets related to his efforts on behalf of elephants. However, he has never before asked for revisions/additions to the Wikipedia entry. You contacted me previously about my references to self-published information (his blog, Instagram account, YouTube channel, etc.) that you deleted. I reviewed Wikipedia's policies in this area, and appreciate your help.

In his recent note to me (sent by Twitter direct message), Mr. Nyamu noted that he was no longer the coordinator of SAWA. He asked instead that he be listed as the "leader of Ivory Belongs to Elephants," which is the formal name of the movement. I made these changes, as they seemed reasonable and are supported by previous news reporting about him.

He also noted that his most recent walk, from Nairobi to Marsabit, was successfully completed on 9 May 2017. I asked him to send me a link to any news reports about this. Additionally, he asked that I use a different photo of him. I'm sure he has photos that he may think are of a higher quality; however, I explained to him that the only reason the current photo is in place is because I personally took the photo and thus had the copyright.

My questions are threefold: (1) If he sends me a photo of himself to which he owns copyright, can I replace the current photo per his wishes? (2) Can I add a reference to a news article about the end of the Nairobi-to-Marsabit walk? And (3) Should I walk away from this entry entirely? I empathize with Nyamu's efforts; however, I have no desire to overstep COI policies. Thank you. Kcroes (talk) 20:05, 22 May 2017 (UTC)

My gut says that dealing with a biography for someone with whom you already have a relationship, even just an online one, is fraught with potential pitfalls. I would encourage Mr. Nyamu to follow the process outlined at Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons/Help to get an uninvolved third party editor in the loop. He doesn't have to create a Wikipedia account if he doesn't want to, just use the email "fix request" avenue. ≈ Bri (talk) 20:55, 22 May 2017 (UTC)

Perfect. Will do exactly that.Kcroes (talk) 21:10, 22 May 2017 (UTC)

I appreciate that you are aware of and are taking care with the potential COI issue. - Bri (talk) 21:13, 22 May 2017 (UTC)

Second set of eyes

Bri, I need someone uninvolved to take a look at the editor creating the articles at issue here. I've run across the same issues with him in some rodeo articles and he seems to have caused similar issues on some golf articles, possibly some boxing ones too. I think he might be a sock or an undisclosed paid editor, but my radar is sometimes off when it's a set of articles where I am involved. Might just be overeager, but he's not a newbie, so... Appreciate the feedback! Will have to go on a bit of a hiatus for the rest of the day but I intend to help some more. Have also invited some other editors (offline) to throw their weight behind it. Keeping up momentum on publication schedule is important, I think, even if we have to triage sections, simplify, and potentially jettison unfinished work.

Proposed deletion of House Resolution 1227

The article House Resolution 1227 has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No notability. There are thousands of House Resolutions that are ignored every year, and there's no other claim of notability.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Hi Bri, since you're compiling this issue's In the media page, I wanted to let you know that Calibri page received some enormous amount of press and media coverage in Pakistan and worth reporting about. See if you can write about it. --Saqib (talk) 11:55, 12 July 2017 (UTC)

Thanks for the tip; I've added it. - Bri (talk) 14:47, 12 July 2017 (UTC)
Thanks. I am curious did you tried googling the term "Wikipedia Calibri"? this issue has received enormous press coverage which made me think that perhaps we're not doing the justice to it by mentioning only few lines in the Signpost. This Guardian piece is titled says "'Fontgate': Microsoft, Wikipedia and the scandal threatening the Pakistani PM" and this Haaretz article [10] which discuss the Wikipedia page in detail and reads "Wikipedia finds itself at center of the controversy because its entry on the font suggests a key document is fake... and could end up toppling the Pakistani government." so the gravity of this issue appear serious and I think you need to expand the ITN with more detail. --Saqib (talk) 05:38, 13 July 2017 (UTC)
I added a link to The Guardian' but IMO further interpretation is more appropriate in reader responses to Signpost after publication. Bri (talk) 14:48, 13 July 2017 (UTC)
I have expanded it a bit more. --Saqib (talk) 09:50, 14 July 2017 (UTC)

Misel Klesinger Page

Dear Bri,

Hi and thanks for editing my page and helping me. I knew I will have some issues but I would like to explain me the steps that I have to do to remove the banner and some copight the bigger banner underneath. To just explain you I have the copyright permission from Misel Klesinger and he allowed me at first to use all the photos which where provided, Use all the information which he checked and it is right. What kind of letter of document do you need so you are sure that I follow the copyright instructions.

If you can list me staff that I should do to clean all the banner would be awesome. Long time ago I did few contributions but last time I have done it was 8 years ago so I guess I misslearned how to do it proparly! And would Like to knwo the same regarding the photo uploads.

With warmest regards, Van — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sportsart (talkcontribs) 14:17, 3 August 2017 (UTC)

Dear Bri thanks for the reply! No I am not actually paid for this he I know him for ling time and I am contribution this because I think it is important information! This isn't really a topic that interests me personally so I won't be fixing it. However, you csn, within the constraints of your conflict of interest as a personal acquaintance. The way to address copyright concerns is advised on the page, in the box, with the label "Can you help resolve this issue?" ☆ Bri (talk) 04:52, 12 August 2017 (UTC)

Dear Bri I red it and dont clearly know what to do and since I dont want to ruin the article . Can I delete some part of it which has some copyright on it and leave sorter version which is actually ok to keep. Please tell me which are the once that HAVE to be removed and be rewreeten. I want to understand 1 part If i write from scratch the article with my own words and not compy pasting the text and I just put the reference of the source it was taken is that enough or something else has to be done?. So if you can have a look at the article again and just simply deldete the parts that have to be rewritten and remove the banner if it is already good. Your help would be much appriciated. Filter 867

Were you aware of this. Recent new filter that your comment at the Edit filter helper RfC made me think you might find useful. Tracks any page creation or transformation of a redirect into an article that is more than 3000 bytes by a non-extended confirmed user. I've found it very useful. TonyBallioni (talk) 02:55, 18 August 2017 (UTC)

I saw that but it doesn't work for unprivileged users (i.e. me) with private filters (i.e. filter xxx it's secret). You know what I'd really like is an IFTTT recipe (I know they changed the terminology) that alerts me or whatever when a username is created matching a regexp I specify. Then I can stop messing around with this secret privilege BS ☆ Bri (talk) 03:09, 18 August 2017 (UTC)
Indeed. I mainly requested it as a way to filter more efficiently through new creations to ones that had the potential to be problematic from a PAID/spam/COI standpoint. NPP is more my thing than LTA, but it can be useful for both sometimes. Anyway, agreed the new view-only right will be helpful. TonyBallioni (talk) 03:27, 18 August 2017 (UTC)
Over time my interest in various areas has waxed and waned. Honestly I originally got involved at COIN because SPI didn't seem responsive enough to the paid editing issues for my taste. LTA is kind of on the vandalism side of the spectrum but some of the LTAs IMO are also crucial to the COIN side of things (M*277 and O*y especially). We don't really have a comprehensive theory of how all these moving parts interrelate; maybe I should write one. They all have their necessity and different levels of effectiveness to different issues to be sure. Lately I've been dipping my toes in the new-user log and it's a little bit eye opening. ☆ Bri (talk) 03:38, 18 August 2017 (UTC)

I am not sure what you mean by "protect from deletion". Articles can be nominated for deletion anytime after which the community gets a chance to voice opinions. Even if I were an administrator, which I am not, there is not a policy mechanism to stop this process. ☆ Bri (talk) 20:06, 20 August 2017 (UTC)

Removed my edit from the Marsha Albert article that provided the exact broadcast she had made; and 2.) Removed my edit from the Pensmore article containing its owner information that contained important context. Your actions against these two edits of mine can logically be construed as your being vindictive against me due to my disagreeing with your assessment that EURACTIV should not be deleted. With this WP:WARNING my hope is that you’ll immediately revert your edits to these two articles in order to make them whole again. Thank you. ScotKreek (talk) 10:24, 23 August 2017 (UTC)

(talk page watcher) @ScotKreek: The edits in question (here and here) are wholly valid, and are not vandalism as you suggest above. Why have you canvassed people to this warning? -- There'sNoTime (to explain) 11:15, 23 August 2017 (UTC)
I have no idea why I (formerly Amatulic) am being pinged here. Bri's edts were to remove unattributed quotations and self-serving self-published material (press releases, blogs and the like), which is perfectly OK. If a subject doesn't have significant coverage in multiple sources that are independent of the subject, then it doesn't merit an article here. ~Anachronist (talk) 12:24, 23 August 2017 (UTC)

What I'm going to do here is self revert at Marsha Albert. Which I had completely forgotten about but I now see is an unformatted YouTube link. Other people can do as they please with it. Then we can see which revision has consensus. As far as Pensmore those were legit deletions of unrelated or unsourced material [12]. The usual thing to do is either restore them with a better source, or agree that they are unfit. What about that instead of claiming that a user who has been here for a decade creating hundreds of new articles, when you yourself appear, has suddenly decided to obstruct or defeat the project's purpose. Also you might want to invest in headgear in case boomerangs start flying around. ☆ Bri (talk) 14:39, 23 August 2017 (UTC)

  • Looks like @ScotKreek: is confused about what reliable sources are to begin with, and is additionally unaware that actual reliable sources are pretty openly mocking the subject of the article at hand as inconsistent and inaccurate. I illustrated this in detail in response to another user's comment at the EURActiv AFD. Zeebowbop (talk) 18:16, 23 August 2017 (UTC)
I do not know why I was pinged but Marsha Albert looks like a classic WP:BLP1E to me, and in my opinion, it should be redirected to Beatlemania. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 01:53, 24 August 2017 (UTC)

New Page Reviewer Newsletter

Hello Bri, thank you for your efforts reviewing new pages!

Backlog update:

  • The new page backlog is currently at 16,991 pages. We have worked hard to decrease from over 22,000, but more hard work is needed! Please consider reviewing even just a few pages a a day.

Technology update:

  • Rentier has created a NPP browser in WMF Labs that allows you to search new unreviewed pages using keywords and categories.

General project update:

  • The Wikimedia Foundation Community Tech team is working with the community to implement the autoconfirmed article creation trial. The trial is currently set to start on 7 September 2017, pending final approval of the technical features.
  • Please remember to focus on the quality of review: correct tagging of articles and not tagbombing are important. Searching for potential copyright violations is also important, and it can be aided by Earwig's Copyvio Detector, which can be added to your toolbar for ease of use with this user script.

Deprodding of Silentnight

I have removed the {{proposed deletion/dated}} tag from Silentnight which you proposed for deletion. I'm leaving this message here to notify you about it. If you still think this article should be deleted, please do not add {{proposed deletion}} back to the file. Instead, feel free to list it at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion. The company is the biggest bed manufacturer in Britain and is notable for a prolonged strike, actually the longest industrial unrest in Britain. I have added much to the article and I am in the process of adding even more, possibly even submitting a DYK. Despite everything, thanks for highlighting this as it brought it to my attention and allowed me to improve the article. Have a good day. Regards. The joy of all things (talk) 12:42, 31 August 2017 (UTC)

If that essay meant what it said, we need to talk.

I have info you will want to see. Is there a way we can speak privately because that's the only way I will hand it over. If not then just forget it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 125.239.96.165 (talkcontribs) 10:00, 1 September 2017 (UTC)

Assuming you are talking about "what's wrong with undisclosed paid editing" and have some related confidential information. I'm just a volunteer editor and observe WP:OUTING scrupulously. You probably should speak through one of the official secure channels such as OTRS or the functionaries email list or one of the many official Wikimedia Foundation contacts. ☆ Bri (talk) 16:13, 1 September 2017 (UTC)

Thought you might find this discussion interesting. I'm going to keep pushing them on the COI/PAID declarations and to the article talk page. Ravensfire (talk) 15:46, 1 September 2017 (UTC)

Hello Bri, thank you for your efforts reviewing new pages!

Backlog update:

  • The new page backlog is currently at 14304 pages. We have worked hard to decrease from over 22,000, but more hard work is needed! Please consider reviewing even just a few pages a day.
  • Currently there are 532 pages in the backlog that were created by non-autoconfirmed users before WP:ACTRIAL. The NPP project is undertaking a drive to clear these pages from the backlog before they hit the 90 day Google index point. Please consider reviewing a few today!

Technology update:

  • The Wikimedia Foundation is currently working on creating a new filter for page curation that will allow new page patrollers to filter by extended confirmed status. For more information see: T175225

General project update:

  • On 14 September 2017 the English Wikipedia began the autoconfirmed article creation trial. For a six month period, creation of articles in the mainspace of the English Wikipedia will be restricted to users with autoconfirmed status. New users who attempt article creation will now be redirected to a newly designed landing page.
  • Before clicking on a reference or external link while reviewing a page, please be careful that the site looks trustworthy. If you have a question about the safety of clicking on a link, it is better not to click on it.

Message regarding National Capital Presbyterian Mission page:

I understand your point about reference. I need about 48 hours to try to fix this. There are other sources, I'm sure, but I need to locate them and a bit of time to do this, with my other commitments. Thank you for your understanding. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hefrost (talkcontribs) 03:37, 21 September 2017 (UTC)

I have added further sources, which I think should satisfy your concern. I will take off the banner tonight unless I hear further from you. No need to respond unless you have further suggestions. Thanks.

This is actually much worse. Will put details on the article talk. ☆ Bri (talk) 12:16, 24 September 2017 (UTC)

Question on Ivo Varbanov (pianist)

Hello Bri, I noticed you'd tagged this article as a G5 (blocked/banned user). The user (User:FoCuSandLeArN) is banned now, but as far as I could find that took place in January of this year, while that article was created in November 2014. I'm not terribly familiar with his case; was an earlier banned incarnation of his found at some point? Seraphimblade Talk to me 22:12, 21 September 2017 (UTC)

Yes, it is a new procedure applied to the Jeremy112233 sockfarm. Following what I believe is the intent of Wikipedia:Deletion review/Log/2017 September 3. Doc James do we have this documented somewhere yet? ☆ Bri (talk) 22:31, 21 September 2017 (UTC)
This is a Wikipediawrite[r]s sock
They belong to this family[13] which was banned in 2012. Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 22:34, 21 September 2017 (UTC)
Perhaps I should reference Yaratam as well as FoCuSandLeArN in the edit summaries. I'll go make null edits to do that. ☆ Bri (talk) 22:36, 21 September 2017 (UTC)
What a hell of a mess. I'm glad at least to see that the spammers won't get rewarded on this one. But yes, it would certainly be helpful to have a reference to the supporting information in the G5 nomination. I suspected it was probably the case that the creator was a sock of someone banned earlier, but just wanted to make sure I had everything straight. Seraphimblade Talk to me 22:47, 21 September 2017 (UTC)
So these are from a company that does paid Wikipedia editing. They have at least three staff. The spammers have already been paid I imagine and usually the guarantee they give is just for a year.
One thing we can hope for is that the subjects of these articles start generating back press for the company in question to raise awareness regarding the issue. Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 23:15, 21 September 2017 (UTC)
FWIW, you really should create a WP:LTA on this instead of or in addition to User:Bri/COIbox61. Good way to publicize these cases more extensively. (For an example, Wikipedia:Long-term abuse/ItsLassieTime. Montanabw(talk) 20:55, 22 September 2017 (UTC)
I'm leery of doing that quite yet as the linking evidence isn't all available for all editors to see. ☆ Bri (talk) 01:32, 23 September 2017 (UTC)

DYK for 2017 Washington wildfires

On 22 September 2017, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article 2017 Washington wildfires, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the 2017 Washington wildfires caused ash to fall "like snow" on Seattle? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/2017 Washington wildfires. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, 2017 Washington wildfires), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Perez article

Hi! I saw you put a paid editing tag on the Jorge M. Pérez article. I'm not sure of the coi/sockfarm issues around this article, but I did add several refs and in the process of doing so I could not see any problems with the article itself. He's definitely notable-- the sources are voluminous and very reliable (Time, CNN, BBC etc). I detest paid editors as much as you do, but I am wondering what good the tag does here, if there's nothing wrong with the article itself?96.127.243.112 (talk) 19:00, 1 October 2017 (UTC)

FYI, I checked the article quite carefully and could find no copyediting issues. Everything is very well-sourced. The guy is hugely famous, which is what happens when you donate the money for an architecture center and a major museum, and become the only hispanic on the Forbes 400 billionaires list. I could add reliable refs all day long about him, so notability is not an issue. Without notability or copyedit issues, the UPE tag does not belong, so I have removed it.96.127.243.112 (talk) 19:33, 1 October 2017 (UTC)

WikiProject Women in Red/The World Contest

Hi. Thankyou for your participation in the challenge series or/and contests. In November The Women in Red World Contest is being held to try to produce new articles for as many countries worldwide and occupations as possible. There will be over $4000 in prizes to win, including Amazon vouchers and paid subscriptions. If this would appeal to you and you think you'd be interested in contributing new articles on women during this month for your region or wherever please sign up in the participants section. The articles done may also count towards the ongoing challenge. If you're not interested in prize money yourself but are willing to participate and raise money to buy books about women for others to use, this is also fine. Help would also be appreciated in drawing up the lists of missing articles. If you think of any missing articles please add them to the sub lists by continent at Missing articles. Thankyou, and if taking part, good luck!♦ Dr. Blofeld 08:55, 5 October 2017 (UTC)

COIN revisit

You looked into a COIN request for me a while back. The user's assistant has finally given a response at Talk:Horse and Rider (Leonardo da Vinci)#Addressing COI issues, along with edits to the article in the same vein. Would you mind revisiting please? --Felcotiya (talk) 21:05, 10 October 2017 (UTC)

Since they have denied COI, there are limited options while assuming good faith.
If you are referring to this, maybe the editor needs a reminder of WP:NOPRICES. Or maybe you think it goes beyond that? ☆ Bri (talk) 22:01, 10 October 2017 (UTC)
I don't believe that an owner of a company (or their assistant) could not have a conflict of interest editing an article for one of their products, as much as they'd like to think otherwise. It's unlikely to result in a neutral and balanced article. --Felcotiya (talk) 21:46, 18 October 2017 (UTC)

Finnishing Demitz

Hi. I noticed you finnished the discussion about Demitz on COI. In my opinion it was a little bit to fast, althogh user:SergeWoodzing wrote he will not write in those articles more. As you can see in the discussion user:Domdeparis, just like me, has other concerns about the technique of sourcing articles to find false positives. He also shows some about the bad sourcing that user:Elzo 90 also comments on and shows diffs on, with self published sources (which was one of the big reasons for the permanent block from Swedish wikipedia exept the promo of Demitz and every time blaming everyone else for harrasements.) By closing it too fast I think we have not come to a solution about the Swedish nobilities and sourcing them, and I guess Domdeparis saw other things too that might need a clean up here. I do not really know how it works on enwp, because I do not use to be involved like this here (I am admin on svwp).

Just to show were I am in this case: I was involved in the sourcing-affair here on enwp, and also in the block on svwp because of that (but only in the end of the blocking discussion, when Elzo showed the own produced source and I digged some in it like Domdeparis did here). A have after that discussion been a mediator here in one other user and SW, and solved it - in that discussion I opened up for mediat so he would be able to come back to svwp under special agreements.

My goal by writing to you is not a permanent block, but a solution so that he still may edit here (I know it is a life style to be a wikipedian), but in the same time protect enwp aganist the sourcing problems. Hope you can inspect this matter and do the neccecary thing to get a real closure. best regards, Adville (talk) 22:47, 11 October 2017 (UTC)

You do realize that I am not an admin and can't block anyone, right? ☆ Bri (talk) 23:53, 11 October 2017 (UTC)
Ok I think that I may have missed the aims of coin. What is the next step now that COI has been established as per SW's last comment? It seems a very fruitless procedure as all that has happened is that SW has admitted what we all knew anyway. We're back at square one. Domdeparis (talk) 00:10, 12 October 2017 (UTC)
The final step after an editor has acknowledged a COI is to guide them on how to handle their conflict. Generally we encourage them to request edits on the article talkpage. If they persist in making disruptive edits, then mediation or other cooperative remedies are possible, followed as a last resort by escalation to one of the noticeboards such as WP:ANI. But WP:AGF governs and we trust that he will be a cooperative editor and do the right thing. ☆ Bri (talk) 03:04, 12 October 2017 (UTC)
Hope springs eternal! Stranger things have happened! Thanks for your help. Cheers. Domdeparis (talk) 05:06, 12 October 2017 (UTC)

COIN Question

Looking through the history of the COIN page and seeing that you are active on it, I am addressing this question to you and look forward to your response. I have been charged(?) with a conflict of interest. These charges are listed on my talk page. As this is new to me, I am uncertain as to what I should do. While I do have much to say regarding the charges, I am not certain how to, where to, or if that is even appropriate at this level. How do I proceed, and what are my options? Your thoughts, please.Horst59 (talk) 03:58, 7 November 2017 (UTC)

I didn't see your name at COIN so I think (AGF) you were accidentally templated or (non AGF) templated to annoy you, warn, or other. Do you and the other editor have an issue? In either case I suppose your options are to ignore, engage 1 on 1, seek WP:Dispute resolution or to report the other depending on how you feel about them. You could also self-report at COIN if you have an apparent COI, and want to get guidance. ☆ Bri (talk) 14:24, 7 November 2017 (UTC)

Aha. So maybe this is a case of WP:COINOTBIAS as Horst59 is editing about a historical figure, not about a present-day entity that would benefit from such editing. In other words I doubt that a foundation concerned with Drake history really stands to benefit from some kind of positive spin on Drake's exploration on Wikipedia, even if a case for such editing were to be sustained. ☆ Bri (talk) 14:48, 7 November 2017 (UTC)

Shipbuilding

Puget Sound (about half Seattle, half Bremerton, a little in Tacoma) built somewhere over 1/4 of U.S. ships built for the Navy during WWI. I can track down a citation, if you like. Need your input

Just getting underway with this very important essay. Atsme📞📧 21:46, 30 November 2017 (UTC)

I haven't read every single word of the essay but possibly see where you want to go with it. First, just a bookkeeping issue: you may want to delete the discussion portion and allow discussion on the talkpage per normal. Okay, as to content: it looks like you want fairer articles about certain individuals with opinions that are unpopular amongst active and vocal Wikipedians (which is a distinct demographic from all Wikipedians, all Wikipedia readers, all readers in a certain nation, or all individuals in a nation or on the earth!). The labeling of both alt-right and similar terms for the left, has bothered me too. The alt-right thing seems to have taken root in a way that will be difficult to change. For a while after the elections I was trying to exert a positive influence e.g. on the bio of Steve Bannon but quickly got discouraged. Without trying to steer consensus in a new direction right away, you will probably get the best result by appealing to precedent in similar situations such as WP:FRINGE. We don't allow articles to say "so-called Doctor X is a quack and a fraud" but we do allow them to say "Joe X, who has a degree from a non-accredited university, is a practitioner of fooism, a method not shown scientifically to have statistically significant results". Here are a couple of examples in articles I've done, which nobody should take as evidence of any specific beliefs or political opinions on my part:
  • Marissa Johnson, an American activist
    • I think something I did well here was describe her as "notable for her engagement" when other media are saying she disrupts/ruins shopping season and things like that

Bri, is it ok to create a TP for a sandbox draft? Atsme📞📧 02:54, 1 December 2017 (UTC)
Oh I see, that is your sandbox. It would be permitted to use its talkpage, but a little weird. Hm, would you like it moved to a WP:User essay instead (I just assumed it was already when I read it)? I have page move permissions. Just tell me what name you want it to have, preferably wikilinked. ☆ Bri (talk) 03:58, 1 December 2017 (UTC)
Not quite ready for a move or a name yet. Based on what I had to endure getting my 1st essay published, I want this one to be super ready before it leaves my sandbox. I was hoping Masem would find time to review his responses that I copied from a BLPN discussion and added to the essay - I'd rather have fresh material designed specifically for the essay but I suppose the quotes work ok. Thx Atsme📞📧 05:21, 1 December 2017 (UTC)

Request to retrieve the draft of my article

Hi Bri. Requesting you to provide the draft of my article 'July Systems Inc' that you proposed for deletion on 1 February 2017. I would like to make the necessary changes to rewrite it with a neutral view and improve it as per Wikipedia guidelines. Also, I would request you to provide suggestions to improve this article. Furthermore, I like to clarify that my account is not a SPA. I would certainly like to contribute more on Wikipedia going forward. Thanks Shahzadkhundmeri (talk) 12:01, 7 December 2017 (UTC)

DYK for Washington's 45th state senate district special election, 2017

On 8 December 2017, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Washington's 45th state senate district special election, 2017, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Manka Dhingra's election to the Washington State Senate gave Democrats complete control of the state's government? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Washington's 45th state senate district special election, 2017. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Washington's 45th state senate district special election, 2017), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

New Page Reviewer Newsletter

Hello Bri, thank you for your efforts reviewing new pages!

Backlog update:

  • The new page backlog is currently at 12713 pages. Please consider reviewing even just a few pages each day! If everyone helps out, it will really put a dent in the backlog.
  • Currently the backlog stretches back to March and some pages in the backlog have passed the 90 day Google index point. Please consider reviewing some of them!

Outreach and Invitations:

  • If you know other editors with a good understanding of Wikipedia policy, invite them to join NPP by dropping the invitation template on their talk page with: {{subst:NPR invite}}. Adding more qualified reviewers will help with keeping the backlog manageable.

New Year New Page Review Drive

  • A backlog drive is planned for the start of the year, beginning on January 1st and running until the end of the month. Unique prizes will be given in tiers for both the total number of reviews made, as well as the longest 'streak' maintained.
  • Note: quality reviewing is extremely important, please do not sacrifice quality for quantity.

General project update:

  • ACTRIAL has resulted in a significant increase in the quality of new submissions, with noticeably fewer CSD, PROD, and BLPPROD candidates in the new page feed. However, the majority of the backlog still dates back to before ACTRIAL started, so consider reviewing articles from the middle or back of the backlog.
  • The NPP Browser can help you quickly find articles with topics that you prefer to review from within the backlog.
  • To keep up with the latest conversation on New Pages Patrol or to ask questions, you can go to Wikipedia talk:New pages patrol/Reviewers and add it to your watchlist.

If you wish to opt-out of future mailings, go here. TonyBallioni (talk) 20:27, 12 December 2017 (UTC)

Question

Hi. Patrolling the CSD queue I came across Blue Fox Entertainment. Could you explain your suspicions behind the authorship to me? I'm probably being stupid but I can't understand the link to the sock farm. EA inspect damageberate 08:32, 14 December 2017 (UTC)

The creator Cajohnson917 is an SPA who created the article in a single edit. The sock picked this article from the extensive AfC queue and approved the draft within ~6 hours of its creation [16]. It's an entertainment company article of the type that the sockfarm created. ☆ Bri (talk) 17:06, 14 December 2017 (UTC)
@TonyBallioni: don't know if you saw this but thanks for deleting it ☆ Bri (talk) 17:20, 14 December 2017 (UTC)
No problem. I came across it independently and reviewed the evidence, and it looked like it was part of the Vukhudo family of editors' MO, so I went ahead and blocked so it would be in the sock cat if needed, and deleted. TonyBallioni (talk) 17:24, 14 December 2017 (UTC)
Great! Note to watchers and future self, the article was created by User:Cajohnson917 & sock approving AfC noted above was MassiveYR of Vukhudo sockfarm – probably South African operators. MassiveYR was really busy at AfD (votestacking here at least), deletion sorting, new page review (request), and AfC (request) during 2017. We may have more work to do looking at their contribs. Not sure this example of systemic infiltration of our QC systems is ready for wide discussion at COIN yet. ☆ Bri (talk) 18:31, 14 December 2017 (UTC)
@TonyBallioni: I think I found more (above) ☆ Bri (talk) 19:39, 14 December 2017 (UTC)
(edit conflict) I went ahead and AfD'd that one since the account has been stale since March, and 9 months is a bit past my personal comfort zone for blocking stale socks. I agree its likely the same and if they start editing again in a similar pattern, I'll block. TonyBallioni (talk) 19:40, 14 December 2017 (UTC)
Emilywlk looks good for a CU though. I'll start the SPI if you haven't already. TonyBallioni (talk) 19:41, 14 December 2017 (UTC)
Please do start the SPI and I will contribute my relevant notes. By the way what do you make of this followed by this? Does it look like quid-pro-quo for something that happened offline? ☆ Bri (talk) 19:46, 14 December 2017 (UTC)
One more thing: do you think Draft:Modello Domani ‎ is G5 eligible? Submitted and most likely created by sock KaytroniX (created while logged out). Draft:Ayush Diwan Khurana probably by same operator (also logged out). User:Maverickthewriter/sandbox is either a sock of KaytroniX, or copyvio ☆ Bri (talk) 19:58, 14 December 2017 (UTC)
Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Vukhudo is filed. I'd take the drafts to MfD since its harder to behaviorally connect IPs and CUs won't publicly disclose (or wait until the SPI is done). TonyBallioni (talk) 20:08, 14 December 2017 (UTC)
  • FYI, I unblocked and undeleted based on the CU findings and the unblock appeal for Cajohnson917 and Blue Fox Entertainment. Appears to be an unrelated crossover between accounts from a socking perspective. TonyBallioni (talk) 23:53, 14 December 2017 (UTC)

Yikes!

I am so, so sorry! I can't believe I am holding things up. No the humour article is not done, your editing is wonderful but I have one more 'pedia to add. It is 8pm where I am. Can we hold off publishing until 12pm tomorrow morning. I was busy doing some article damage control and buying gifts for the grandkids. Best Regards, Barbara (WVS)   00:49, 15 December 2017 (UTC)

No problem, I'm just trying to get ahead of the deadlines (for once). ☆ Bri (talk) 00:52, 15 December 2017 (UTC)
Okay, ready for proofing. Please change and try to make it funny. I'm just not feelin' it. I usually laugh at my own work, but with this, not so much. Barbara (WVS)   01:58, 15 December 2017 (UTC)
Now I'm laughing! Thank you for saving my a-a-a-a-a-a-butt. Barbara (WVS)   17:44, 15 December 2017 (UTC)
BTW the furbies do have their own wp. Barbara (WVS)   17:46, 15 December 2017 (UTC)
MS Paint to the rescue! I really wanted to find a copy of the NSA letter that spawned many newspaper stories in 1999, including "A Cute, Cuddly Security Threat" to round it out, but couldn't. The one here is close, but it's from an airline so it's not PD. ☆ Bri (talk) 17:51, 15 December 2017 (UTC)

After a very long and unexpectedly heated exchange with the user with the name with lots of numbers. I have a few things you should know first of all I have no desire the bias the articles in our favor and the other hand when they are full of inaccurate information and gossip about living people it must be fixed . We are private people who shun publicity.we want no promotional articles we would happy to to have no articles. As those articles are here to stay we ask that they are not full of personal information and are fair and balanced. If you have any questions on my future edits on the articles and you want verification and sources ask me and I will get as quickly as possible. But I can’t let inaccurate information stay on that page as some of it is very personal. For you this is a article one of thousands for me it is a my family I knew and know these people they have children and grandchildren it must be as accurate as possible for there sake when you google it is the first thing you get tell free to contact me at any time Flamingoflorida (talk) 00:00, 22 December 2017 (UTC)

I understand, and I do hope the WP:BLPEDIT stuff works for you ☆ Bri (talk) 00:19, 22 December 2017 (UTC)

Thanks so much Flamingoflorida (talk) 00:25, 22 December 2017 (UTC) Everything is now correct while they may be minor corrections as in adding sources or grammar the information is accurate nobody in the family would object to anything I hope it is fair and balanced as I intended I didn’t put any opinion or unsourced information Flamingoflorida (talk) 00:40, 22 December 2017 (UTC) One more thing to know I’m a perfectionist Flamingoflorida (talk) 00:44, 22 December 2017 (UTC)

Wishing You A Happy Turkey Day!
A Thanksgiving tale...

Two pilgrims go out hunting. One has two blunderbusses (guns).
The second pilgrim queries, “Why two blunderbusses?”
The first pilgrim responds, “I usually miss on the first shot; with two I can shoot again”.
The second pilgrim pauses, then asks, “Why not just take the second one, and only shoot once?”

Holiday Cheer + a barnstar

  The Happy Holiday Barnstar
How about combining a Barnstar with a Christmas Card? That is why this message is appearing on your talk page. Simultaneously and at the same time, this barnstar is conferred upon you because during this past year you worked and contributed your time to improve the encyclopedia. You also have received far too little recognition for your contributions. In addition, this is a small attempt at spreading holiday cheer. I've appreciated all the things that you have done for me.
The Best of Regards,
