Protection Template on your userpage

Please don't add templates to pages that are not actually protected. That template is just informative... having it there in no way protects the page from editing.--Isotope23 talk 12:51, 23 October 2007 (UTC)

Re:Imaginationland

The poll isn't needed as the list does not follow Wikipedia guidelines per WP:NOT#DIR. There's no one enforcing the poll and regardless of the outcome, the list still fails Wikipedia guidelines. Douglasr007 02:02, 24 October 2007 (UTC)

The results of a poll don't necessary mean that the result will go through. The process of articles for deletion simply are nominations of seeing if an article fail any Wikipedia guidelines regardless of the outcome of the poll. The same is true with straw polls. I am merely going through Wikipedia's guidelines and not doing what I think is right but what Wikipedia guidelines place. I do realize now that the article doesn't violate WP:NOT#DIR but however looking at the guideline for plots of episodes (Wikipedia:Television_episodes), the list is acting like a piece of trivia as the characters appear for less than a minute in the episode. Duplicate images uploaded

Thanks for uploading Image:Beyond the Pale (Jim Gaffigan album) cover.jpg. A machine-controlled robot account noticed that you also uploaded the same image under the name Image:Beyond the pale.jpg. The copy called Image:Beyond the pale.jpg has been marked for speedy deletion since it is redundant. If this sounds okay to you, there is no need for you to take any action.

This is an automated message- you have not upset or annoyed anyone, and you do not need to respond. In the future, you may save yourself some confusion if you supply a meaningful file name and refer to 'my contributions' to remind yourself exactly which name you chose (file names are case sensitive, including the extension) so that you won't lose track of your uploads. For tips on good file naming, see Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions about this notice, or feel that the deletion is inappropriate, please contact User:Staecker, who operates the robot account. Staeckerbot 01:44, 5 November 2007 (UTC)

Non-free images in userspace

Please see what you cannot have in your userspace. Non-free, fair use images like the image of Cartman you had on your page are not allowed. Please refrain from adding fair use images to your page; people tend to get blocked for that.--Isotope23 talk 13:22, 5 November 2007 (UTC)

Oh, and this also applies to user subpages in your userspace as well. When you are working on a draft of an article, I'd suggest commenting out the image names with <!-- -->--Isotope23 talk 13:27, 5 November 2007 (UTC)
Yes, that is exactly what I'm telling you. Non-free images are not allowed in the userspace and that is one of the things that tend to not get much in the way of leeway due to the ramifications of this for Wikipedia. Fair use has very little wiggle room and yes, I've seen people get indefinitely blocked for repeatedly failing to understand or comply with WP:FAIR as far as images are concerned.--Isotope23 talk 20:37, 5 November 2007 (UTC)
If you took a screenshot of a copywritten show, you could use it in the article provided that you gave a valid fair use rationale and source. You still couldn't use it in the userspace.
There is a reason I never upload images here...--Isotope23 talk 20:41, 5 November 2007 (UTC)

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Beyond the Pale (Jim Gaffigan album) cover.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Beyond the Pale (Jim Gaffigan album) cover.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 14:24, 5 November 2007 (UTC)

Imaginationland‎ Merge

User:Sceptre has started to unilaterally merge the episodes together, not waiting until the poll has closed. As there is a 3:1 opinion out there that this should not occur and I do not wish to break the 3R rule I was wondering if you could help me with reverting his edits? Thanks. -- UKPhoenix79 23:44, 5 November 2007 (UTC)

Directed at UKPhoenix79 I've pointed out my reasons for doing this on the talk page. I'm not even going to bother arguing this here. Respond to my reverts on the talk page (you should have done this BEFORE revering my edits).--Swellman 02:00, 6 November 2007 (UTC)

Your arbcom candidatcy.

I reverted, you need 1,000 edits to run. I also deleted the picture of cartman you have in your userpage as a deravitive work, which means it's a copyvio for being to similar to a copyrighted figure. Thanks This is a Secret account 03:16, 6 November 2007 (UTC)

Read Derivative work. Thanks This is a Secret account 03:21, 6 November 2007 (UTC)

Under wikipedia rules, sorry fair use isn't possible in userpages. Thanks This is a Secret account 03:31, 6 November 2007 (UTC)

I agree with you. The deletionists, particularly the copyright paranoids, are making this a difficult project to enjoy being part of. You might like to use this:

Brian Peppers

The page is protected from creation, so you won't be able to create a page about him at that namespace. This page has been deleted something like 30 times and has had in the range of 6 AFDs. I'd say any attempt to create a page about him at any namespace will almost immediately be deleted on the spot.--Isotope23 talk 14:43, 7 November 2007 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Cartman Claw.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Cartman Claw.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 18:25, 7 November 2007 (UTC)

undo of coverflow...

Why did you decide to change back the version of the article Coverflow? No explanation was given, so I undid your undo... Next time explain your thoughts before you do things like this... It is only common sense Encyclopedia Wikipedia Etiquette.--BorisFromStockdale|Discussion|Contributions 05:57, 11 December 2007 (UTC)

To reply to your clearly racist comment on my talk page: Akvarium. Not only is this image encoded properly(smaller filesize), but it would raise less copyright concern.--BorisFromStockdale|Discussion|Contributions 02:38, 12 December 2007 (UTC)

Admin coaching request status

You have expressed interest in undergoing the Admin coaching program. However, after reviewing your edit history, I feel you may need more experience editing (i.e., >2,500 edits & 4 months of activity) on Wikipedia before you can know for certain your ready to begin the process of becoming an administrator. Therefore, at this time, your application for Admin Coaching has been declined.

My suggestion would be to seek adoption from a more experienced user who can help you experience all of the various components of editing an encyclopedia. If you decide adoption is not for you, there is also the editor review process that may help you find areas to improve upon in our editing. If you would like to talk more about this, please feel free to leave me a my talk page. MBisanz talk 21:26, 27 February 2008 (UTC)
