UFC fights numeration is four off
Hi Cassiopeia, just letting you know, following UFC on ESPN+ 28 back on March 14, the numeration for UFC on ESPN+ and UFC Fight Night within Wikipedia's articles have become inconsistent with one another by a difference of four digits, which are throwing the articles off by four fights. Maybe just rid those four COVID-19-cancelled fights of their numerations while just retaining their titles, so as to correct the issue and eliminate false info. Otherwise, good job with handling MMA articles. Memorial Day cheers, --Discographer (talk) 13:23, 25 May 2020 (UTC)
@Discographer: Was aware of issue from the start. The issues were caused by the COVID-19 and this really started after UFC 249...ufc commentary just calls it ""UFC Fight Night (fighter name) vs (fightername) ......on ESPN or ESPN+" or whatever their broadcast. The numbers were deprecated. Only media calls it by number, but obviously there are inconsistent caused by COVID-19 issue. Regice2020 (talk) 21:28, 25 May 2020 (UTC)
- Some are monitoring the events naming issues from UFC 249 to UFC 251. I believe after UFC 251 these issue should be stabilized with new things. Regice2020 (talk) 21:56, 25 May 2020 (UTC)
- Discographer G'day. I know and I knew it would happen when covid-19 happened. We have issues where MMA editors think some of the events should be merged and some editors think otherwise and some with no much Wikipedia mma background do not understand how the events are named/page name, for reasons that they dont understand the Wikipedia guidelines, MMA naming background, and do not want to listen to advice. Thus, things can not move forward and correct the numbering problem and this lead to confusion for readers to find pages in the midst of all this mess. This sadden me as we the contributor should work together and try to understand the issue especially with experience editors and edit/expand the page instead now, so many discussions about merging and change of article names and editors revert each other edits. MMA editors have not been working together for a long time and now is getting worse. I try to sort it out as the best I can and hope editors could understand what have been established for the last 16 years and more than 500+ events in Wikipedia. I thank you for message me. Stay safe and best. Cassiopeia(talk) 09:34, 26 May 2020 (UTC)

Articles for Creation: List of reviewers by subject notice
Hi Cassiopeia, you are receiving this notice because you are listed as an active Articles for Creation reviewer.
Recently a list of reviewers by area of expertise was created. This notice is being sent out to alert you to the existence of that list, and to encourage you to add your name to it. If you or other reviewers come across articles in the queue where an acceptance/decline hinges on specialist knowledge, this list should serve to facilitate contact with a fellow reviewer.
To end on a positive note, the backlog has dropped below 1,500, so thanks for all of the hard work some of you have been putting into the AfC process!
Sent to all Articles for Creation reviewers as a one-time notice. To opt-out of all massmessage mailings, you may add Category:Wikipedians who opt out of message delivery to your user talk page. Regards, Sam-2727 (talk)MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 16:35, 27 May 2020 (UTC)

Advice. looking into what i can do to have a Wikipedia article semi protected from vandalism
Hello Cassiopeia Been awhile hope things have been well with you. The issue that Im writing to you about seems to be bothering quite a few editors on Wikipedia, it is in regards to vandalism of article https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jorge_Masvidal . Myself and many other have tried to add his recent accolades of winning the BMF title against Nate Diaz last year ref: https://www.espn.com/mma/story/_/id/28096549/jorge-masvidal-bmf-title-win-ufc-244-espn+ . But because fans of Nate Diaz who either believe that it was not a real win (because of the TKO via cut) they have constantly changed the referenced info on his page usually with Anon accounts(Both in his intro paragraph were is stated he was the inaugural BMF Champion and in his fight record notes section where it states that he won the BMF title) whatever their reasons Jorge won the BMF title that night regardless of what the ref did. looking into it someone seems to have tried to do what Im doing already but they have not corrected top paragraph and refer to it in fight notes as symbolic ufc belt(terrible wording could even say symbolic BMF Championship if you had to put the word in there). it is a symbolic belt(like all other belts) its more like the return of the old Super fight Championship were they literally fought to see who was the baddest in the organization https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_UFC_champions#Superfight_Championship_(defunct) . i would say the BMF title should be just as regarded as other belts like grand prix/tournament belts. Don't know why it has to be down played the ufc made a big deal out of it they say its important doesn't that make it important, its a sanctioned belt its not like Saku belt from Pride fc or Stephen Thompson's Nicest Mofo title https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YsEXjBDM7n8 (made by coaches or fighters) i feel like this page could be more accurately edited. any input u could give maybe helpfulTsims23 (talk) 06:09, 30 May 2020 (UTC)

Once you have finished Wikipedia Adventure program (maybe it will take you 30-45 mins to finish the program), pop back here and I will set up the program for you. - I have read Wikipedia:Simplest diff guide and I understand Wikipedia policy on 3RR. (I have spent several hours reading Wikipedia policy pages.) However, when I tried using WP:TWA, it wasn't working and kept asking me to provide an edit summary (when I did). I am going to try again and hopefully it works this time. — Preceding unsigned comment added by RedRiver660 (talk • contribs) 01:20, 8 June 2020 (UTC)

Fighter profile
- Hello Cassiopeia sorry for getting back to you late I've been busy as of late getting back to work and such. I'm sorry I posted that on there without reading the full thing I understand that you guys came to a fair decision once I took the time to read it I was busy at the time but I should have read it. Anyways I message you about a different matter I have a question in terms of what we consider top tier promotions on Wikipedia from what I understand Bellator used to be but is not currently but what if someone fought at Bellator during the years of 2012 to 2014? Would that be considered fighting for major promotion. I'm just wondering as many bellator fighters(fighters that have never fought in ufc, pride etc. Have pages) it's not for one of the previous ones it's a new person I'm looking at putting on thereTsims23 (talk) 16:55, 7 June 2020 (UTC)
- The fighter I'm talking about has 2 fights in bellator (during the years of 2009-2015 when I was listed as top tier) and they also had 2 in the UFC thought I'd see what others think before I do too much Tsims23 (talk) 04:48, 8 June 2020 (UTC)
- Tsims23 Hi Pls provide the fighters' names pls. Thank you. Cassiopeia(talk) 04:52, 8 June 2020 (UTC)

- Kyle prepolec he had 2 in bellator at bellator 64 and bellator 76 in 2012(when promotion was still considered top tier by wikipedia standards) and also had 2 showings in the UFC. UFC on ESPN 9 came in on short notice in a weight class above his did quite well even though he lost against another Canadian(not relevant to discussion just wanted to say that) and UFC on ESPN 16. For 4 fights in major promotions. He did have another fight scheduled but suffered an MCL tear I believe so he was sitting around for a while they actually earlier this year for many possible reasons his performances weren't wins but were enough to get another fight in the talks inactivity due to injury may be one or they are saying some of these fighters that were released were done so because of Visa issues or because they may be didn't want to cover them during the pandemic I'm not going to assume any of that but all I know is that he promised that he will try his best to get back in there so if I can't make it now I'll have time to make it in the future when he makes it back to the UFC. Let me know if so I will get to work Tsims23 (talk) 23:12, 8 June 2020 (UTC)
- They actually released* himTsims23 (talk) 23:17, 8 June 2020 (UTC)
- Tsims23 Morning, Kyle Prepolec had 2 fights in UFC and 2 in Bellator during the time Bellator was in the top tier promotion - see HERE. He is notable to have a page in Wikipedia maispace as per WP:MMATIER. You can write the article and when and make sure all the UFC and Bellator fights are supported by secondary sources (newspaper or MMA sites but not tapology or sherdog databases). Let me know when you finsihed and I will review for you. Stay safe and best. Cassiopeia(talk) 00:27, 9 June 2020 (UTC)

Cancelled UFC event on March 25, 2020
Hey, how are you? I noticed you moved the UFC Fight Night 176 content to Cancelled UFC event on March 25, 2020, but there was never an event in that date. Can you ask for deletion? Gsfelipe94 (talk) 19:29, 8 June 2020 (UTC)
- Gsfelipe94 I am well and safe in AUS. We are doing very well against c-19 and we are being isolated from the world (no in or out travelling) maybe for next 12 months or more. Believe you are all well in BR as I understand c-19 cases are very high in your homeland, regretfully to know that. I re-read the bodytext and changed the name to May 30 Cancelled UFC event on May 30, 2020 instead.
- We can't nominate the page for deletion via PROP, CSD, AfD or TfD for the page doesnt not meet the criteria since it is well-sourced and considered notable as per original content. We can either redirect or merge the page to another page. As long as we get the event numbering sorted out, we can let the merge discussion takes its place as normal. Stay safe Felipe and best. Cassiopeia(talk) 00:54, 9 June 2020 (UTC)
- Glad to hear your ok as well. Yeah, but there was no event cancelled on May 30 whatsoever. We could've kept the original article as a redirect for List of UFC Events until it was confirmed. Perhaps merge it with UFC on ESPN: Woodley vs. Burns. Gsfelipe94 (talk) 01:35, 9 June 2020 (UTC)
- Gsfelipe94, There is already a merge request on the page to UFC on ESPN: Woodley vs. Burns 28 May 2020,- see Merger discussion. Actually there are at about 4 merge requests going on at the moment by several editors - see Articles to be merged. We just need to get the UFC Fight Night article name released so the event name would be sorted out. Cheers. Cassiopeia(talk) 02:04, 9 June 2020 (UTC)

Recent changes
- Some articles have tables that can be sorted in different ways. For example a list of countries can be sorted alphabetically but you can click on the size column to sort them by size. If you clicked on the column a second time it would sort the countries from the bottom to the top instead. A third click will now take you back to the original sorting. [7]
- Self-closed tags now work as in the HTML5 specifications. This means you should stop using some of them.
<b/>
is an example of a self-closed tag that won't work.area, base, br, col, embed, hr, img, input, keygen, link, meta, param, source, track, wbr
can be self-closed. Pages with tags that should not be self-closed have been listed in a tracking category since 2016. They will be listed in Special:LintErrors/self-closed-tag. This doesn't affect<references />
or<ref />
. [8] - There is a banner called
WikidataPageBanner
. It is for example used by the Wikivoyages, Wikimedia Russia and the Catalan, Basque, Galician and Turkish Wikipedias. It will now been seen by mobile visitors too. Before this it was only seen on desktop. The wikis should update instructions onMediaWiki:Sitenotice
so that editors know to test and style for mobile too. [9][10]
Changes later this week
- You can now edit MassMessage descriptions through the API. This is useful for tools and gadgets. [11]
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 9 June. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 10 June. It will be on all wikis from 11 June (calendar).
Future changes
- A temporary fix helped wikis make their main pages more mobile friendly. This was in 2012. It has not been recommended since 2017. It will not work after 13 July. Wikis should use TemplateStyles instead. 118 wikis need to fix this. You can read more and see if your wiki is affected. [12]

- Kent Bargo, Good day. I doubt it was your intention but, pls note that the normal internet communication for all high cap means "yelling/screaming". If you look at the UFC event page, UFC always lists the venues, cities and countries for all the events - example see - here. For UFC 251 UFC listed "UFC Fight Island" is the venue - see here. Thank you. Cassiopeia(talk) 03:25, 20 June 2020 (UTC)

Stay safe everyone and best. Cassiopeia(talk) 10:02, 13 June 2020 (UTC)
@Cassiopeia: Thanks very much, you've done well. Please consider doing the following though:
- Delete Cancelled UFC event on April 9, 2020 and Cancelled UFC event on May 30, 2020
- Merge Cancelled UFC event on April 25, 2020 and UFC Fight Night: Smith vs. Teixeira
- Move the UFN 176 and UFC Fight Night 178 redirects to UFC Fight Night 176 and UFC Fight Night 177 respectively
- Redirect the former (UFN 176) to List of UFC events as well
Give it some thought! — 29cwcst (talk) 04:10, 14 June 2020 (UTC)
- 29cwcs UFN 176 and UFC Fight Night 178 have redirect to List of UFC events and when UFC Fight Night 176 is created then UFN 176 will be redirect to UFC Fight Night 176. All the merge proposed was majority oppose and closed. So all is settle now. stay safe and thank you. Cassiopeia(talk) 10:13, 15 June 2020 (UTC)
- @Cassiopeia: That's good to hear. Why was the cancelled event on April 25, 2020 not merged with UFC Fight Night: Smith vs. Teixeira though? They essentially merged the old UFC 249 event on April 18, 2020 with the new one on May 9, so that doesn't make sense to me. Neither does the fact that cancelled events for April 9, 2020 and May 30, 2020 actually have their own articles. No event was ever planned for April 9 and UFC on ESPN: Woodley vs. Burns went down on May 30 so, ultimately, an event did in fact take place on the latter date. Seriously, what is going on here? — 29cwcst (talk) 01:45, 16 June 2020 (UTC)
- @Cassiopeia: I have moved UFN 171, UFN 172, UFN 173, UFN 176 and UFC Fight Night 178 to UFC on ESPN+ 34, UFC on ESPN+ 35, UFC on ESPN+ 36, UFC on ESPN+ 37 and UFC on ESPN+ 38 respectively. For the time being at least, they're all redirects to the List of UFC events page. They're also in a cleaner order that retains better chronological and historical consistency. — 29cwcst (talk) 02:30, 16 June 2020 (UTC)
- 29cwcst, I have redo some of your redirect as they are incorrect. The merge requests have all been closed and all of them close and we need to go by the closing decision since they were closed as majority oppose. All the mess is now corrected which took a lot of efforts and time and now the pages are in stable status. Stay safe and best. Cassiopeia(talk) 08:46, 16 June 2020 (UTC)
- @Cassiopeia: Of course you have, because all that collaborating simply wasn't enough. When you're not conferring with other users, you're reverting my edits. Until you want to start conferring with me on my talk page again, this is the last time I'll be trying to help you out. I'm moving UFN 176 to UFC Fight Night 176 and UFC Fight Night 178 to UFC Fight Night 177 because those redirects should currently exist instead. Ahead of UFC Fight Night 178, why are UFC Fight Night 176 and UFC Fight Night 177 not redirects? How does what you've been working on make sense? I expect you to revert these redirects as well, so I'll finish off by asking two final questions. Be bold? Seriously, how can I possibly do that here? — 29cwcst | 00:50, 17 June 2020 (UTC)

Deleting drafts
Hey what's up? Sorry 4 bothering but I thought maybe u could tell me how to delete drafts. I have a lot of drafts that are projects I will never submit, others that I've already submitted and the ones that I'm working on. I'd like to delete the ones I won't submit such as Draft:Pat Downey (wrestler) and the ones that have already been moved such as Draft:Nick Piccininni. Any suggestions? Thank u— Preceding unsigned comment added by PabloLikesToWrestle (talk • contribs) 06:12, June 15, 2020 (UTC)
- PabloLikesToWrestle Good day. You are ot bothering me as I am here to help an editor who seek assistance in Wikipedia. If you are the creator of the page, you would (1) black the content and place Template:Db-g7 (pls read the page for instruction on how to place G7) on the page and (2) place "creator requests to delete the page" on the edit summary prior save your edit. The page will be delete on the same day. If you have problem to place G7 then let me know here and I will do it for you (in other words I need your permission / request for me to do it for you). Let me know if anything else I could help. Stay safe and best. Cassiopeia(talk) 10:34, 15 June 2020 (UTC)

Any space for another student?
Hello, I'm interested in starting out here. Any spaces available? Thanks Alevaten (talk)
- Alevaten Greetings. I am not sure which program you are after as I am one of the trainer for CUVA and NPPSCHOOL. Since you have only 4 edits and none of them is on main space, you dont meet the requirement for either program for this state. I do suggest you to take up WP:ADVENTURE program which you would gain knowledge on the Wikipedia basic guidelines. Stay safe and best. Cassiopeia(talk) 08:40, 16 June 2020 (UTC)

Read this in another language • Subscription list
This edition of the Editing newsletter includes information the Wikipedia:Talk pages project, an effort to help contributors communicate on wiki more easily. The central project page is on MediaWiki.org.
- Reply tool: This is available as a Beta Feature at the four partner wikis (Arabic, Dutch, French, and Hungarian Wikipedias). The Beta Feature will get new features soon. The new features include writing comments in a new visual editing mode and pinging other users by typing
@
. You can test the new features on the Beta Cluster. Some other wikis will have a chance to try the Beta Feature in the coming months. - New requirements for user signatures: Soon, users will not be able to save invalid custom signatures in Special:Preferences. This will reduce signature spoofing, prevent page corruption, and make new talk page tools more reliable. Most editors will not be affected.
- New discussion tool: The Editing team is beginning work on a simpler process for starting new discussions. You can see the initial design on the project page.
- Research on the use of talk pages: The Editing team worked with the Wikimedia research team to study how talk pages help editors improve articles. We learned that new editors who use talk pages make more edits to the main namespace than new editors who don't use talk pages.

CVUA request
Hello, Cassiopeia! I'm interested in joining the CVUA as your student! I should have sufficient contributions, and I've been using Twinkle for a bit, but I'd like to gain experience with other tools in the world of counter-vandalism. I'm in EDT, so coordinating things might pose a challenge, but I'm flexible and either way I should be able to respond during the day over here. Thanks, Pupsterlove02 talk • contribs 13:40, 16 June 2020 (UTC)
- Pupsterlove02 Good day. Please read Counter-Vandalism training and if you still want to participate the CVUA program, then let me know so I may set up the program for you. Stay safe and best. Cassiopeia(talk) 12:56, 17 June 2020 (UTC)
- I have read through the syllabus and goals you linked to, and I would still like to take the program. Thank you for your consideration! Pupsterlove02 talk • contribs 14:22, 17 June 2020 (UTC)
- Pupsterlove02 Pls note that you need to know how to provide hist diff when answering the assignments' questions thus pls read Wikipedia:Simplest diff guide or Wikipedia:Complete diff and link guide if you yet to familiar to know how to provide hist diff. Secondly, pls note do NOT revert more than 3 times on the same article withing 24 hours time frame unless the edits are "blatantly vandalism edits" for you will be blocked/banned from editing. (this is very important -if you are not sure, leave the edit as it is). Lastly, I have set up the program for you. Ping me when you have finished assignment 1. Pls provide "all" hist diffs when you revert an edit, provide info of any examples, reports, result of the reports and etc. Welcome to CUVA. Stay safe and best. New Page Reviewer newsletter June 2020
Hello Cassiopeia,
- Your help can make a difference
NPP Sorting can be a great way to find pages needing new page patrolling that match your strengths and interests. Using ORES, it divides articles into topics such as Literature or Chemistry and on Geography. Take a look and see if you can find time to patrol a couple pages a day. With over 10,000 pages in the queue, the highest it's been since ACPERM, your help could really make a difference.
- Google Adds New Languages to Google Translate
In late February, Google added 5 new languages to Google Translate: Kinyarwanda, Odia (Oriya), Tatar, Turkmen and Uyghur. This expands our ability to find and evaluate sources in those languages.
- Discussions and Resources
- A discussion on handling new article creation by paid editors is ongoing at the Village Pump.
- Also at the Village Pump is a discussion about limiting participation at Articles for Deletion discussion.
- A proposed new speedy deletion criteria for certain kinds of redirects ended with no consensus.
- Also ending with no change was a proposal to change how we handle certain kinds of vector images.
