Speedy deletion nomination of User:Dbyrneo94/Portmarnock Under 16 B Team

A tag has been placed on User:Dbyrneo94/Portmarnock Under 16 B Team requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section U5 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to consist of writings, information, discussions, and/or activities not closely related to Wikipedia's goals. Please note that Wikipedia is not a free web hosting service. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such pages may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Not sure why Twinkle gave this notice to you and not the above user. --MrLinkinPark333 (talk) 00:31, 3 January 2022 (UTC)
I probably userified the page and it was forgotten about. No worries. Catfish Jim and the soapdish 01:03, 3 January 2022 (UTC)

How we will see unregistered users

Hi!

You get this message because you are an admin on a Wikimedia wiki.

When someone edits a Wikimedia wiki without being logged in today, we show their IP address. As you may already know, we will not be able to do this in the future. This is a decision by the Wikimedia Foundation Legal department, because norms and regulations for privacy online have changed.

Instead of the IP we will show a masked identity. You as an admin will still be able to access the IP. There will also be a new user right for those who need to see the full IPs of unregistered users to fight vandalism, harassment and spam without being admins. Patrollers will also see part of the IP even without this user right. We are also working on better tools to help.

If you have not seen it before, you can read more on Meta. If you want to make sure you don’t miss technical changes on the Wikimedia wikis, you can subscribe to the weekly technical newsletter.

We have two suggested ways this identity could work. We would appreciate your feedback on which way you think would work best for you and your wiki, now and in the future. You can let us know on the talk page. You can write in your language. The suggestions were posted in October and we will decide after 17 January.

Thank you. /Johan (WMF)

  • The Reply Tool feature, which is a part of Discussion Tools, will be opt-out for everyone logged in or logged out starting 7 February 2022. Editors wishing to comment on this can do so in the relevant Village Pump discussion.

We are not in disagreement

We may look it, but we are not. I see a hole that could be dug even deeper. FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 19:11, 11 February 2022 (UTC)

Many of your comments are incisive, but disclosing some of the quirkier behavioral similarities is not a good idea generally for socks, some of whom learn from such comments. Also, each time you comment, the sock responds, and I don't see the point of goading them. Thanks.--Bbb23 (talk) 16:40, 12 February 2022 (UTC)

I appreciate the perspective. Catfish Jim and the soapdish 21:21, 12 February 2022 (UTC)

Blocking IP addresses

Hello Catfish Jim and the soapdish,

I noticed that following some trolling at ANI you blocked 2600:387:F:4011:0:0:0:1 (talk · contribs · WHOIS) with an expiration time of indefinite. You may want to review the guidance on IP block durations at WP:IPBLENGTH, these days infinite IP blocks are generally frowned upon because IP addresses get reassigned and long blocks are likely to cause a lot of collateral damage. In this case the IP belongs to AT&T wireless and seems to be used for mobile phones, it is probable that the person you were aiming the block at will only have that IP for a few hours. Final thought, when dealing with IPV6 addresses the general advice is to just block the entire WP:/64, because the entire /64 range tends to be assigned to just one user. 192.76.8.70 (talk) 10:29, 13 February 2022 (UTC)

Yep, I've changed that block to 24 hours.Catfish Jim and the soapdish 11:27, 13 February 2022 (UTC)

ANI report withdrawal

Is it possible to withdraw an ANI report or does an admin have to close it? Sorry for taking my post off of ANI. Desertambition (talk) 16:16, 29 March 2022 (UTC)

Sorry, another admin just told me what to do on the WP:ANI page. Won't delete anything there again, just didn't realize proper procedure. Desertambition (talk) 16:18, 29 March 2022 (UTC)

No problem... have a nice day! Catfish Jim and the soapdish 16:19, 29 March 2022 (UTC)

  • When viewing deleted revisions or diffs on Special:Undelete a back link to the undelete page for the associated page is now present. (T284114)
