After looking at the the table for the first time in a while, I realised the intro sentence did not say what I wanted it to. I have now altered it to hopefully make it clearer. I know there are emotive issues sounding some of the places on the list (particularly Northern Ireland) so I was tying to be as politicly correct as possible with the intro sentence - but just ended up being confusing. Thanks for drawing it to my attention. The list is really a work in progress based on my own knowledge of independence moments. It was designed to go beneath an existing list of European countries in the article on Area and population of European countries but was rejected for various reasons that I am hoping to rectify when I have time. My rational for including Bavaria was because of the Bavaria Party who advocate Bavarian independence and are a member of the European Free Alliance. I have not had time to research if any of the other Germany states have independence movements. I was not trying to make any statement by not including them and hope I did not cause any offence. However, if you know of any German states with independence moments I would be happy to add them - or any other European places for that matter. In addition if you have any thoughts on a more robust methodology for choosing who is included in the list I would happy to hear them. I hope that answers your question. No one takes us seriously and the situation cannot be compared to the Basque movement. In my opinion, this selective list may conbtribute to separatist movements, e.g. in Northern Ireland, rather than contributing to the "we are one world" ideals. 85.179.38.72 (talk) 08:10, 26 June 2011 (UTC) Hi Thanks for your comments. Unfortunately, I do not agree with them. I feel the accusation of selectiveness is unfair. As I have said the list is not finished yet and is just a result of me brainstorming - I have no agenda in including any of the entries nor have I deliberately missed any off. The list does not say anything about the size and success of the independence movements. It just lists places that have independence or separatist moments. It is for the reader to make any comparisons. To be frank it started as just something I made to see if I could format a table on WP. In addition, the list is created from a neutral perspective and does not suggest that the independence moments are right or wrong. With regards to Bavaria I have no personal view as to whether or not they should be independent- I was just representing the fact that the Bavaria party exist. Furthermore, Not having a list because it might not contribute to the "we are one world" agenda or any other agenda, I think would be against Wikipedia rules particularly WP:POV. As I understand it, all the deletions and additions in WP should be neutral. Furthermore, I hardly think a simple list of places with facts about population will encourage independence moments. Anyway I'm still working on the list and I am not sure if I will upload to a Wikipedia article. It is just on my user page so I can save a copy of while I think about what I'm going to do with it. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Europe/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Germany, Italy, the Benelux countries, Iberian Peninsula, Romania, Slovenia etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. If you would like to see masses of articles being improved for Europe and your specialist country like Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon, sign up today and once the challenge starts a contest can be organized. This month The Women in Red World Contest is being held to try to produce new articles for as many countries worldwide and occupations as possible. There is over £3000 in prizes to win, including Amazon vouchers and paid subscriptions. Wikimedia UK is putting up £250 specifically for editors who produce the most quality new women bios for British women, with special consideration given to missing notable biographies from the Oxford Dictionary of Biography and Welsh Dictionary of Biography. If you're not interested in prize money yourself but are willing to participate independently this is also fine, but please add any articles created to the bottom of the main contest page even if not competing.
