Companies law
editHi Conant, thanks for your input on the page - I could really use your help, as you say on your profile you're experienced in US law. On definitions, I think it's a good idea to aim for unified pages where we can, but you're right that sometimes terminology across the Atlantic doesn't wash both ways - have you come across this new book, Anatomy of Corporate Law, written by academics in the States, Germany, Japan, the UK and Switzerland? It's a very good cross section of it all, and I thought therefore that splitting the titles of "Companies law" for all the different firms forms from "Corporate law" for (what we'd call in the UK "Company law") limited liability firms with separate legal personality would be the way to go. On the Business organizations page, I just had the feeling that the ground covered was what (should?) could be in the Companies law page. After all, most of us can grasp which words others apply to the same things. Would be glad to hear your thoughts. Wikidea 22:35, 9 July 2007 (UTC)
Hi. Since your creation of FINRA preceded the day one activities, I am wondering if you are a lawyer connected to FINRA. If you are, can you help by providing a FINRA logo for the article? I checked the press room of finra.org but was unable to locate a press package that included released versions of the new logo.
Thanks - Tεxτurε 15:07, 31 July 2007 (UTC)
I have no connection with FINRA. --Conant Webb 15:25, 31 July 2007 (UTC)
- Oh, well. Thanks. I'll track something down. - Tεxτurε 15:27, 31 July 2007 (UTC)
Hello, Conant Webb
editHi, Conant Webb. I was wondering if you would be interested in joining WikiProject Law or WikiProject Supreme Court cases. We can always use more lawyers around here, because there seems to be a dearth of people on Wikipedia with professional legal experience. Personally, I haven't been quite as active lately, because I just finished taking the bar exam. But do please let me know if you are interested. --Eastlaw 21:52, 9 August 2007 (UTC)
WP:Hornbook -- a new WP:Law task force for the J.D. curriculum
editHi Conant Webb,
I'm asking Wikipedians who are interested in United States legal articles to take a look at WP:Hornbook, the new "JD curriculum task force".
Our mission is to assimilate into Wikipedia all the insights of an American law school education, by reducing hornbooks to footnotes.
- Each casebook will have a subpage.
- Over the course of a semester, each subpage will shift its focus to track the unfolding curriculum(s) for classes using that casebook around the country.
- It will also feature an extensive, hyperlinked "index" or "outline" to that casebook, pointing to pages, headers, or {{anchors}} in Wikipedia (example).
- Individual law schools can freely adapt our casebook outlines to the idiosyncratic curriculum devised by each individual professor.
- I'm encouraging law students around the country to create local chapters of the club I'm starting at my own law school, "Student WP:Hornbook Editors". Using WP:Hornbook as our headquarters, we're hoping to create a study group so inclusive that nobody will dare not join.
What you can do now:
- 1. Add WP:Hornbook to your watchlist, {{User Hornbook}} to your userpage, and ~~~~ to Wikipedia:Hornbook/participants.
- 2. If you're a law student,
- Email http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WP:Hornbook to your classmates, and tell them to do the same.
- Contact me directly via talk page or email about coordinating a chapter of "Student WP:Hornbook Editors" at your own school.
- (You don't have to start the club, or even be involved in it; just help direct me to someone who might.)
- 3. Introduce yourself to me. Law editors on Wikipedia are a scarce commodity. Do knock on my talk page if there's an article you'd like help on.

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Better source request for File:Cftcseal.gif
editThanks for your upload to Wikipedia:
You provided a source, but it is difficult for other users to examine the copyright status of the image because the source is incomplete or generic . Please consider clarifying the exact source so that the copyright status may be checked more easily. Please update the image description with a URL that will be more helpful to other users in determining the copyright status.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source in a complete manner. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.
