Hello,
In your smartphone essay, you metioned that you use a HTC Onee M8. I also used that smartphone up until recently when it stared getting really hot when I used it. Does yours do that? --Justyouraveragelechuga talk 13:49, 6 January 2023 (UTC)
- Hello, Justyouraveragelechuga. That essay was written years ago. I am using a different phone now. I do not recall any overheating problems. Good luck. Cullen328 (talk) 16:10, 6 January 2023 (UTC)
- Cullen328 Ok. You should probably update the essay to avoid confusion… Justyouraveragelechuga talk 16:14, 6 January 2023 (UTC)

Suggestion
First of all, last I looked, Ymblanter was watching the situation I am about to describe, and had the page semi-protected.
So no part of this is so urgent that it can't wait until after.breakfast. I realize that it's early but I am about to go do non-wiki things and other things on-wiki, since it's my impression that a lot of the very new user accounts on the page are in fact experienced pt.wiki users, but you might want to check in on the page, seriously
Your user with the offensive username that I probably.am not supposed to repeat has found his way to 2023 Praça dos Três Poderes attack, which is about Brasília yesterday. What could possibly go wrong? The new username is Sir Jack Hopkins, but I guess you know that. He has started a talk page thread named "False Allegations of Electoral Fraud Promoted by Jair Bolsonaro and his Allies", which seems trollish. However nobody is biting yet. There is also a VindiceLibertas ranting in the "https://www.aosfatos.org" section about "propaganda source for Communist supporters", but ScottishFinnishRadish blocked him for 72 hours after that for something else. Just saying, like I told RfP last night, the probability of hijinks seems high. Since it.seems under control and in pretty good hands just now I am going to go deal with RL for a while. I of course will look in as well and try to help if needed. Thanks for any brainpower that you apply to the situation. Elinruby (talk) 14:33, 9 January 2023 (UTC)
- Hello, Elinruby. Thanks for your note. I am keeping an eye on that article and those editors. Cullen328 (talk) 18:10, 9 January 2023 (UTC)
- Nod nod, good, just making sure you knew. I will be in and out of the article doing copy-edits as the English is a little bit Portuguese, but it looks like there is someone else to do the content creation this time, thank God. If I see it getting ugly I will ping you or Ymblanter. Elinruby (talk) 18:17, 9 January 2023 (UTC)
- Hello, Elinruby, that sounds like a great plan. Ymblanter is in Europe and as you know, I am in California, so one or the other of us is available most of the time. Cullen328 (talk) 18:23, 9 January 2023 (UTC)

Nod. I was thinking that, and also that Ymblanter seems to have come to the same conclusion I have, and has already protected the page once. Elinruby (talk) 18:34, 9 January 2023 (UTC)
- just following up - I was very pleasantly surprised by the lack of strife on that talk page. Not sure if you have something to do with that, but if so thanks, and for keeping an eye on it. (I was inspired to follow up here when you answered one of my questions :) ) some of the other articles I have worked on about Brazilian politics got quite messy. Anyway, cheers and thanks. - Hello, Elinruby. As far as I remember, I only made one or two comments there. If my input was perceived as productive, I appreciate that. I need to make it clear that I have zero topic area expertise regarding Brazilian politics, but am always willing to deal with obvious disruptive editing in any topic area. Question from Iampulinda (16:59, 18 January 2023)
how to start editing my self to wikipedia --Iampulinda (talk) 16:59, 18 January 2023 (UTC)
- Hello, Iampulinda. Please read WP:AUTOBIOGRAPHY. Cullen328 (talk) 17:51, 18 January 2023 (UTC)
Relatively quick note
I've removed my earlier comments from the relevant page, as you suggested, until I have a chance to revise them. What I am happy to concede is that there was some degree of misunderstanding on both parts, but I think there is a rationale for keeping the article which I hope I'll have time to set down this week while I'm away. If the other person involved was happy to place a note regarding primary sources on the article earlier, then in my opinion that should stand for the present even if the even if article text is not amended further. If I fell down on a point of procedure, I think people would do well to remember that when one is editing a Wikipedia page at 1am local time AND on a mobile phone with a 5" x 2½" screen, it's very easy to miss things (hence the fact that I'm constantly fixing my own typos). That said, I don't think that dismissing other editors en masse as lazy shows much respect. There are all sorts of reasons why people might think they've done a good job to begin with, and not have the time or resources (I've spent quite an amount of monry editing some pages) to fix any issues which are drawn to their attention, if indeed they're not too busy to notice this at all.
Are you OK with this?
Technically illegal removal of Edwin's comment and your response; I'm claining IAR. Let me know if I overstepped. --Floquenbeam (talk) 19:34, 19 January 2023 (UTC)

Debate of Third Reich NSDAP cabinet 1925
With reference your User Page, My Interests & Disclosure of potential conflicts of interest, Articles for Deletion (AfD) debates. I have no intention of disclosing all of the painstaking research (arthritis), to any user who insinuates me/my research with hallucinations, having boasted 800 deletions since 2019, mine & 8 the next day.
I am just this ordinary bloke, researching, and Reading Heraldry and Law since 1982. I have used my User and Talk pages as scrap books since I began editing Wikipedia. Your User / Talk pages are enviably pristine, kudos.
Thus, may I introduce myself?
Hi Jim, first of all we have a lot in common, I am 70, and got my Ba (Computer programming, Philosophy and Religion, Theatre and Film Arts), in 1982 in my 2 US scholarships. I have one of my many designs registered in your Library of Congress! After returning, I designed systems on the Stenna Seaspread, for your navy, and MoD. After this, following my father’s death, [[John Brooke-Little]] from the [[College of Arms]] wrote, asking me to bring to him, my family Birth & Marriage certificates.
Presently, I have been writing Heraldry articles in Wikipedia since 16 April 2008.
Royal standards of England. (WikiProject England – High-importance).
Royal supporters of England. (WikiProject England – High-importance).
List of German monarchs in 1918. (WikiProject Germany – Mid-importance).
Abdication of Wilhelm II. (WikiProject Germany – High-importance).
Former German nobility in the Nazi Party. (uploaded my 155,672 Bytes, in one hit!).
List of Popes. (found, translated, uploaded +90 coats of arms; C13th to C21st ).
Having introduced myself, may I use this opportunity to Debate the reasoning of this article, and it’s, as yet unstated importance. If after this Debate, you still oppose my reasoning, I will also vote for its Deletion. Thank you for your considerations. Steve. Stephen2nd (talk) 04:11, 24 January 2023 (UTC)
- Hello, Stephen2nd. My talk page is not the proper place to debate whether or not to keep this article. The appropriate place for that is Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Third Reich NSDAP cabinet 1925 where I believe that I have explained my recommendation. I'm glad that you studied in the United States but not sure what that has to do with anything here on Wikipedia. Cullen328 (talk) 05:29, 24 January 2023 (UTC)

- Well, I'll see ;) - I usually come with my latest news, which is RD more and more. Pointing at Parsley was a bit pointy as you may have noticed. Today I have two artists on DYK, one Russian, one Ukrainian, who recently died. More on my talk in case of interest (in why I'm taking a break from DYK). If you check the songs, you see that I'm on vacation, taking a break in real life as well. As it happens, today is your anniversary of quite a history:

- Thanks so much, Gerda Arendt. If you do not want to post anything about Jimi Hendrix or Janis Joplin, perhaps you will consider the incomparable Jim Morrison of that era, or the slightly newer and still living artists like Elvis Costello and Bruce Springsteen. Perhaps you can immerse yourself in the Velvet Underground or The Clash for a while. You will then be able to better appreciate the brilliant artistry of the Talking Heads. Question from NET SET Bengali (09:07, 3 February 2023)
Can I discuss the Bengali language in my own way? --NET SET Bengali (talk) 09:07, 3 February 2023 (UTC)
- Hello, NET SET Bengali. Wikipedia is not a place to discuss anything
in my own way
. This is a neutrally written encyclopedia, not a forum to discuss various things. You can do that on Facebook and Twitter and YouTube and Instagram and LinkedIn and countless other social media platforms. But not on Wikipedia. If you have specific, actionable ideas to improve the article, propose them, citing reliable sources, at Talk: Bengali language. Cullen328 (talk) 09:31, 3 February 2023 (UTC)

- Thanks. Your reversion was undone--some of the disputed content was unsourced negative, some unsourced promotional (Let's not restore junk edits like Caption = The clinic building where patients interacted and would sometimes have sexual relations with each other or team members). A bit of a mess. I've done minor clean up and brought it to ANI hoping for more attention. 2601:19E:4180:6D50:0:0:0:4C4B (talk) 19:59, 4 February 2023 (UTC)

Thank you for your comment on my appeal for a new moderator or, if not possible, my question regarding the closing process and expected closing date for the Dispute I filed against a number of editors. I am sorry that you thought the questions I asked of the would be moderator were not appropriate. However, note that I did read the page the moderator asked us to read and there was no indication there that we were not supposed to ask the moderator any questions. The moderator could have dispelled any doubts in a few words but chose not to, which is their prerogative, and I did write I have no hard feelings. I am a new editor, especially compared to you, but I am trying to adhere by Wikipedia guidelines, which, incidentally, also say not to bite new editors. So, while I am comfortable in the fact that your comment is only a POV, I feel that the words you used were a bit unfair. If you really would like to see unpleasantness, please read through the Dispute. In any case, I am still waiting for answers to my questions. 70.164.212.36 (talk) 06:41, 10 February 2023 (UTC)
- Hello unregistered IP user. You are obviously a highly intelligent person so I will dispense with the normal niceties extended to confused new editors. Your pattern of editing shows all the indications of sophisticated POV pushing and axe grinding that frequently results in indefinite blocks for registered accounts. I have been evaluating the contributions of editors like you for 13 years. There is nothing new about your pattern of behavior although you are wordier than most, which irritates people more than persuading them. Your exceptionally lengthy TLDR excursions about "propaganda" that most editors will not read in full but I actually read are powerful evidence that you are here to grind an axe and push a pro-Turkish point of view, and that you think that any negative content about Turkey is "propaganda" and anything positive about Turkey is wonderful content. I hesitated stating the above assessment because of the genuine catastrophe that befell Turkey and Syria a few days ago, but the truth needs to be told. My heart sincerely goes out to all of the victims and their families and loved ones in Turkey and Syria, but the fact of the matter is that experienced editors and administrators are highly skilled at detecting people who are here to push a non-neutral point of view. And at this point in time, you are flying many red flags indicating unacceptable behavior high and proudly. That conduct does not bode well for your long-term editing career, but perhaps you do not care all that much. On the other hand, you could choose to begin editing neutrally, but I remain pessimistic of that outcome. Please feel free to prove me wrong. I would love to be proven wrong and to gain a neutral productive editor Cullen328 (talk) 07:42, 10 February 2023 (UTC)

Thanks for your comment on the WT:RSP. I found it valuable and insightful, and not for political reasons but because this transcends politics. Andre🚐 02:32, 12 February 2023 (UTC)
- You are welcome, Andrevan. That is precisely why I quoted our summary of a truly bipartisan report produced when the Senate had a Republican majority. Facts are facts, even when millions of Americans are fervently devoted to denying the facts and worshipping a false god. I admit that I am a Democrat but I have enormous respect for the many (but not enough) honorable Republicans who have chosen to reject Trumpism, even at the cost of losing their jobs and their friendships and their reputations in "conservative" circles who have gone far right in the Trump era. I know who they are, at least the most prominent of them, and I consider them to be great patriots. Thanks for stopping by. Cullen328 (talk) 03:03, 12 February 2023 (UTC)

User:Wjemather
Wjemather has been unnecessarily undoing good edits from editors (myself and others ) for three years now. Editors have tried reasoning with that person over time, but that person does not want to listen. Several people in private chats have expressed their frustration with that person, simply because they don't know where else to turn to talk of their frustration.
That person's behaviour has not only been unproked, unneeded undoings of valid edits that no one else has ever had a problem with, but hypocritical also; the list is long of the times that that person would spitefully undo the very same type of edits that they themself have done before, throwing logic out the window. In other words, it's okay for themself, but not for others.
One other behaviour that makes that person unreasonable is making things up on the spot: An editor will do a good edit in the traditional way, but then this person in question will undo the edit with the excuse (paraphrasing), "Just because this is the traditional way is not an excuse to keep doing it that way.".
Trying to reason with that person has failed for years with many who have tried.
I've been editing on Wikipedia since 2007 and had never had any real problems from an editor until that one. I've been doing the same type of edits in the same way since the beginning, and in early 2020 that person came along and decided to be the first to take their own personal feelings and force feed them onto the Wikipedia community with uncalled for retractions that no one else had ever had a problem with. Nitpicking at every single turn, unJusifiably.
Most of that person's edits are undoings,, not additions, meaning the main purpose that person has had over the last three years has been to unneededly undo other people's edits, even when having to make up a reason to do so.
Simply to spite me, that person went and undid a good edit of mine on a page concerning a topic that they no absolutely nothing about:
Also last year, that person went back on a previously agreed upon standard for preparing the WGC MATCH Play page, one in which that person had willingly agreed to the year before:
It gets worse, you're damned if you do, and damned if you don't; If you do an edit one particular way, that person undoes it and criticizes you, but then if you do the edit the opposite way, that person still undoes it and criticizes you.
I would have to go and do weeks' worth of finding and citing all the examples of that person's gross, uncalled for undoings. For now, I will show a few recent examples of the kinds of edits that no one else ever had a a problem with, but this person is hell bent on interfering with anyway:
Undoing a perfectly good preparation that is done each week on the PGA Tour, for no reason ...
Undoing more preparation that is done as a normal thing in Wikipedia, for no reason ...
And those are only two examples of a half a dozen interference type of undoings in the last 24 hours. It takes time and trouble to go and post these here, so I'll stop there for now.
Other times, that person will try to get a page deleted, because in their OPINION the page was made "too early", something of which no one else has ever been known to complain about in recent years. There are links to show proof of this.
After three years of constant interference of spiteful, uncalled for undoings, we will not tolerate it any longer. I have been on here for sixteen years without serious trouble for 13 of them. Over the last three years, this constant hypocritical and unneeded interference won't be tolerated. Even the simple act of letting that person know, they lash back as if you are wronging them in some way, playing the victim.
Since no one has been able to get through to them because of their unreasonableness, we hope maybe you could have a chat with them to see if you can get through. Johnsmith2116 (talk) 04:54, 27 February 2023 (UTC)

Replying for Burning of Smyrna
@Cullen328: Your remarks of me "POV pushing and axe grinding" are highly inappropriate as they indicate that you have not read my edits or that you do not really care what is in the edits, for some reason of your own. Are you sure you are not confusing my edits with the endless anti-Turkish propaganda in the article? Show me one single POV and one single axe grinding in my edits, and I will show you ten that were in the article before I edited a single word and still remain now, nay I will show you twenty. Also, I wanted to discuss everything in the article Talk page, but got no response because the other editors could not defend their positions. What happened to all the Wikipedia niceties? Please go and examine my edits, then see if you can make the same claims. @Liz: You choose not to reply to my questions after you have accused me of sockpuppeting and disruption. I could just as well accuse you of taking sides, and perhaps knowingly, because of your baseless accusations, and your hard to believe claim that you do not recall how you happened on the article. Perhaps you have remembered by now. I could not find a Reply button on the original topic, so that is why we are here. 70.164.212.36 (talk) 02:16, 11 February 2023 (UTC)
- I am not interested in engaging further with you except in exercising my powers as an administrator. In my judgment, you are behaving like a tendentious ethnic nationalist POV pusher. I am sure that you are convinced of your own righteousness and that your ethnic rivals are wicked. I am not interested in debating with you. My interest is in protecting the encyclopedia from POV pushers. Please do not post on my talk page again unless it is to make a required notification. Cullen328 (talk) 03:00, 11 February 2023 (UTC)
- Hi Cullen, I believe this is a sock. Compare User talk:BenjaminStaff (blocked) [2], [3] with [4] and the geolocation of 184.179.106.251 and this IP (both from Burning of Smyrna [5]) See discussion at [6].
- I can't see the check user block info on BenjaminStaff, but if someone can check the geolocation from that account with the two public IPs I think it would match. @Materialscientist: @Liz: may have more information about this.

- Hello, TimothyBlue. I have never claimed to be a sockpuppet detective and I am definitely not a checkuser so I will leave this matter to those who have those skills and tools. I do appreciate your observations, though. Thanks. Cullen328 (talk) 03:54, 11 February 2023 (UTC)
- Materialscientist did not take any action which is not a surprise with an IP account which they will not associate with a registered account. Years ago, I used to get frustrated by the opaqueness of the work of checkusers but I then accepted that they are very experienced at their job and follow the rules strictly. They know what they are doing and have access to information that we don't have. But I wanted to bring up the association to him to see what he thought. Making that inquiry is what put me on 70.164.212.36's Enemies List. But having filled in the details right now, I think Jim probably wants this discussion to move along and have us all get back to work. Liz Read! Talk! 04:23, 11 February 2023 (UTC)
- Liz, I do not mind being updated about any problematic behavior by this editor. But I am not interested in writing point-by-point refutations of their TLDR ramblings about propaganda which are clearly intended to push a nationalist agenda. I have far better things to do, such as pouring shots of whiskey for my wife and I, and folding the laundry. Cullen328 (talk) 04:32, 11 February 2023 (UTC)

- Per this, I watched their return last week, but ignored it in hopes they'd go away. And now this. I expect nothing from it, since apparently no one has apprised them of the maxim that "if everyone disagrees with you, maybe you are the one who is wrong". But be aware they have returned from their block to be confrontational. Heiro 05:49, 2 March 2023 (UTC)

More advice
Thanks for the help and everything trying to fix that citation.
Can you also edit some other pages? Mandate of Heaven and Confucianism use a source I put called Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind. It was originally in Hebrew, and I just lumped all the translators in with the author who also helped with the process. I did this because I was confused if I should include the author or original language or not.
Also, there is a section on Wall Street called Early years I made a minor edit to to correct a typo in the chapter name from the Sapiens source. Should I just leave it 16 or expand it to Chapter 16? And also, is there a way to publicly display that a source comes from an e-book version with no pages? I assume that would be a note in References, but I have never been that great at citation, so I would like at least a short explanation on that. GoutComplex (talk) 22:51, 2 March 2023 (UTC)

The refusal to accept the close at AN was the last straw for me, but they were behaving in a disruptive and unpleasant manner for quite some time. Indefinite IPv6 block?
Hi, is there a reason you indeffed the IP address 2405:201:D020:1A04:5173:513E:26F7:7BA1 rather than a 31 hour or 1 week block? Legoktm (talk) 05:01, 13 March 2023 (UTC)
- Hello, Legoktm. That must have been a misclick. On the other hand, this person is part of a deliberate, organized campaign of severe BLP violations. I have reduced the block to two weeks. Cullen328 (talk) 05:17, 13 March 2023 (UTC)

Question from TripuraDrrahul (16:36, 15 March 2023)
How will i make biographies in Wikipedia? --TripuraDrrahul (talk) 16:36, 15 March 2023 (UTC)
- Hello, TripuraDrrahul. First, determine whether or not the person is truly notable. If so, gather up a list of the best reliable, independent sources that devote significant coverage to the person, which will be used as references. Now, read and study Your first article, and write a neutral, well-referenced draft. When completed, submit it to Articles for Creation for review. Writing an acceptable new article is difficult for inexperienced editors. Consider editing existing articles as well, so that you can learn more about how Wikipedia works. Said user keeps on trying to spread death hoaxes on the pages of people related to Thomas the Tank Engine, for some reason? Hi there. I've just taken a poor sourcing tag off the page. Do I need to do anything else for this. I said I was doing this in the Talk page in January, so that's plenty of time, I think. --Basketballjo (talk) 16:18, 7 March 2023 (UTC)

- Sorry for missing this. Been away. never sure of what connects in this place. It was Talk:Tyler Lindholm. I did the changes to Tyler Lindholm on March 7. No-one's objected. Is that a good sign? Perhaps no-one's looked. I chose a quiet page to practice on. Planning on updating https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Americans_for_Prosperity next Basketballjo (talk) 23:27, 17 March 2023 (UTC)
- Hello, Basketballjo. Of course it is a good sign that no one has objected. It is always OK to remove a tag if you are confident that the identified problem has been corrected.
