ArbCom elections are now open!

edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Proposed deletion of Alder, Oregon

edit

The article Alder, Oregon has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Sources cited in this article are not sufficient to establish notability. All other sources found online were either for other places named Alder or were mirrors of Wikipedia. There was evidently a mill there, so there may be offline sources, but unless they're found this article doesn't have enough information to pass WP:GEOLAND. If kept the article needs a rewrite because it is plainly false to say this is an unincorporated community; satellite images just show a stretch of railroad through otherwise empty forest.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Proposed deletion of Flynn, Oregon

edit

The article Flynn, Oregon has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No information found about this location, apart from a local covered bridge (which may be notable). As for the "community" of Flynn, I could not find any information, and the name Flynn doesn't appear on any USGS map until 1956, and the location seems to shift a little in later editions of the map: [1]. This is not suggestive of a well-defined community. Current satellite view just shows an industrial area on the outskirts of Philomath. Without further information, this is a failure of WP:GEOLAND. GNIS does not establish notability.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Proposed deletion of Harris, Oregon

edit

The article Harris, Oregon has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Unsourced article, and I cannot find any sources stating this was or is a community. By all information I can find, this was just a bridge; this article about bridge repairs [2] never mentions any community. Another GNIS falsehood that fails WP:GEOLAND.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Proposed deletion of Hoskins, Oregon

edit

The article Hoskins, Oregon has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Unsourced; does not appear to have any notability apart from Fort Hoskins. Since there is no information here that isn't in that article, a redirect might be appropriate. But nothing would be lost with a simple delete. No information about a "community" of Hoskins could be found; seems to have just been a railroad point.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Proposed deletion of Noon, Oregon

edit

The article Noon, Oregon has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Much like Flynn, Oregon, this non-notable location doesn't appear on any map until 1956: [3] and appears to refer only to a rail siding to serve the local lumber yard. No other information found. Fails WP:GEOLAND. Unsourced to boot.

Proposed deletion of Gillespie Corners, Oregon

edit

The article Gillespie Corners, Oregon has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable locale. Sourced only to GNIS and a document about a road improvement project having nothing to do with the place at all (and which makes up more than half of the article). Plenty of mentions exist in local newspapers: [4], but all are trivial and just describe the place as a location where some insignificant thing happened. Without better sources that are specifically about this location, it fails WP:GNG and WP:GEOLAND.
