Welcome and thanks for your edits
editHello DjembeDrums, thank you for your edits and welcome to Wikipdia. I came upon your categorization of two of the pages I am following : this and this. Although Kumba Ndoffene was not a Tijani, I understand your reasoning for categorizing it as such. You may want to categorize the Battle of Fandane-Thiouthioune as such. It is more appropriate. I see on your userpage you stated that you are from Senegal. We used to have User:Tamsier on Wiki—who was also from the Senegambia region, and one of our most hardworking and dedicated articles creator about the Senegambia and Africa, but had to resign because of blatant racism, targeting and systematic bias on Wiki. I hope you stay. It is nice to see other Senegambians/Africans editors on Wiki. If you need help with anything let me know. If I can, I will help. Regards. If you have time could you please add your name as a participant on Wikipedia:WikiProject Senegal and Wikipedia:WikiProject Gambia/Participants? All you've got to do is go to the participant/members page/heading and add add the hash sign (#) followed by 4 tilts (~~~~) at the bottom like this: #~~~~. You can also add yourself to Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa. Once done, also make sure you follow the pages. Thanks. Senegambianamestudy (talk) 16:07, 14 February 2020 (UTC)
- @Senegambianamestudy: Thank you for the personalized welcome, I do appreciate it. I am a Senegalese raised abroad, so I actually do not know many of the finer details of Senegalese Islam and history. I am doing as much online and library research as I can to try to get back in touch with my roots. It has been challenging for me trying to find reliable sources, so your expertise will be more than welcome. It will be an honor for me to join WikiProject Senegal as well.
- I am sorry to hear about User:Tamsier, and I would like to talk to him if he ever comes back. You said blatant racism, targeting and systematic bias drove him away, but how bad is it really on Wikipedia? DjembeDrums (talk) 15:03, 21 February 2020 (UTC)
- Pretty bad, sometimes done in a subtle way. Many of our African/Black editors have left. Anyway, no problem. If you need help let me know. Senegambianamestudy (talk) 05:09, 22 February 2020 (UTC)
Hello DjembeDrums, I am working on updating the Layene page, and came across all of your great work on Senegal. It's a pleasure to see this work happening; please let me know if I can help! Marlynrow2021 (talk) 23:26, 25 October 2021 (UTC)
