Thank you for using VisualEditor and sharing your ideas with the developers.

Hello, Eagleash,

The Editing team is asking very experienced editors like you for your help with VisualEditor. The team has a list of top-priority problems, but they also want to hear about small problems. These problems may make editing less fun, take too much of your time, or be as annoying as a paper cut. The Editing team wants to hear about and fix these small things, too.

You can share your thoughts by clicking this link. You may respond to this quick, simple, anonymous survey in your own language. If you take the survey, then you agree your responses may be used in accordance with these terms. This survey is powered by Qualtrics and their use of your information is governed by their privacy policy.

More information (including a translateable list of the questions) is posted on wiki at mw:VisualEditor/Survey 2015. If you have questions, or prefer to respond on-wiki, then please leave a message on the survey's talk page.

Harry McDonald (footballer, born 1926)

Just created this article, initially just as "Harry McDonald". Before starting it, I checked and could find no other article in the same name, on Wiki. However on moving from draft into mainspace, on checking "what links here" from the tools on the left, I found listed a number of well known American athletes. I checked some of the articles but couldn't find the link but to be on the safe side, so to speak, I moved the article again to the name as it stands now. However, the list of links from the various athletes still appears after clicking "what links here". I'm a bit confused by this. Thanks. Eagleash (talk) 23:02, 17 March 2015 (UTC)

Hi Eagleash. The links still appear because the page Harry McDonald (with nothing after it) is currently a Redirect to Harry McDonald (footballer, born 1926). To fix the issue, I'd suggest going to the the redirect page directly and editing it to turn it into a disambiguation page that distinguishes between the various Harry McDonalds. Hope this helps! Howicus (Did I mess up?) 00:50, 18 March 2015 (UTC)
Turns out all the articles have a template with the name Harry McDonald (no wiki page) in it. A former U.S. athletics champion from early 20th C. "Sorted" (by Howicus) good stuff.Eagleash (talk) 02:50, 18 March 2015 (UTC)

Danny Light

Very good question, and an unusual scenario which I have never seen in over 9 years of editing, and to which I'm afraid I don't have an answer. I'll re-raise at WP:BLPN; in the meantime have you considered contact CPFC to let them know and see if they can verify/publish a piece on their website? GiantSnowman 12:32, 2 May 2015 (UTC)

(@GiantSnowman:) I've spent a good bit of time on this (as I don't like to be beaten...) but nothing in the records. I have, however, traced the Facebook pages of Danny's widow [1] and brother [2]. They contain tributes, a period image in strip, references to funeral service, an image of a Dartford programme with a tribute, messages of condolence, etc so there's no doubt. Facebook can be used as a source where it's unequivocal (uncontroversial) - the exact date, 20 Oct is not supported except in the supporters' site used as reference #1 on Danny's WP article, but the programme was uploaded 25 Oct. Danny married Laura in 1981, Camberwell (they appear to have lived in London recently, but I couldn't get an address). He's the rather portly, suntanned gent on the cover photo of Laura's page. You'll need a logged-in Facebook presence to view the content. As you opined, Eagleash, it's better to have the page accurate. I used social media to update Leon Haslam's page for a child's birth when there was no other news or records source, and to confirm Frank Perris' death by way of funeral arrangements posted to Facebook with accommodation and parking tips, although someone had already added the death-date from a foreign-language semi-blog. Hope this helps.--Rocknrollmancer (talk) 22:14, 3 May 2015 (UTC)
If there is a tribute/obituary in a football club's official matchday programme then that should be sufficient. GiantSnowman 22:37, 3 May 2015 (UTC)
Date of death also confirmed by this. GiantSnowman 22:39, 3 May 2015 (UTC)
@GiantSnowman: & @Rocknrollmancer:. Great stuff. Thanks. I think the Colchester website is the one to go with. I have searched many times for a ref. but that one never came up! Thanks again both. Eagleash (talk) 22:55, 3 May 2015 (UTC)
Always a pleasure.--Rocknrollmancer (talk) 23:21, 3 May 2015 (UTC)
I can upload the image from the Facebook pages under a fair use rationale for the infobox, if you think that's appropriate - certainly a good action capture and indicative of his time in the game. I ran it through the Google image search and it was only used at this fansite page, 3 Nov, pre-dating the Facebook useage.--Rocknrollmancer (talk) 00:43, 4 May 2015 (UTC)
There is no need to 'prove' an offline source through a photograph, it can be adequately cited using {{cite book}} or {{cite journal}} - though it would be helpful if you could provide details such as page number, edition etc. GiantSnowman 08:46, 4 May 2015 (UTC)

@GiantSnowman: & @Rocknrollmancer: I think I'm a little confused here now :P. I think Rocknrollmancer is referring to a shot of Light in late '60s CPFC strip which could be used as infobox image (?). I am no good at image use criteria — I've only ever used images of my own uploaded via Commons — so don't feel able to comment on whether it's appropriate or not, really. Sorry. — It would make a decent i/bx image though.

Whilst 'here' could one of you have a look at the message, below this one, from MAbbey regarding his re-write of the CB400T article (one for Rockandrollmancer possibly). I think the re-write is an improvement on the existing page but like him I'm unsure of the best way to go about inputting it. The obvious way is to clear the page and just copy & paste, but not sure if that would contravene any procedures. Maybe a bit too 'bold'. Thanks. Eagleash (talk) 09:03, 4 May 2015 (UTC)

I'm sure Dennis Bratland will have the Honda CB400T article flagged and will be able to advise when time allows.--Rocknrollmancer (talk) 10:28, 4 May 2015 (UTC)
@Rocknrollmancer: Yes I expect he does... However, Snowman seems to have answered the question and the page has now been updated! Eagleash (talk) 11:24, 4 May 2015 (UTC)
Ah sorry, I've re-read the above and I was mistaken - I'm also not 100% on image rights, I'll let Rocknrollmancer make that call... GiantSnowman 09:33, 4 May 2015 (UTC)
A.S.H. the stripey-strip pic I have already formatted last night, but just didn't want to go ahead on 'your' page...Under a 'fair use rationale' several criteria must be met, the main one being that the person is deceased. Another being low resolution and small physical size (maximum pixel size of 110,000, so 250px x 400px = 100,000) to prevent any high-quality copies being made; the image can only be uploaded to Wikipedia, and used on the Wikipedia (en) page for the particular article and remains linked to it, i.e., it cannot be uploaded to Wikimedia Commons (and re-used from there by anyone, for any purpose, as is 'normal'). If you look at this File:Tom Phillis on BSA Gold Star.JPG, I used the image of Tom Phillis as a dummy for sizing (put it in the Danny Light infobox as a draft try), but the Danny Light image would be narrower (the infobox re-sizes it, and/or manually). I'm sure that's confused you enough! When I queried if it was appropriate, I meant appropriately-indicative of his playing career, not of later in life. Regarding the hypothetical case where an image of a publication is uploaded to a blog or similar, then we cannot inline-citation directly link to it as an info source as it violates some [[WP:***}} copyright aspect, can remember the exact one! --Rocknrollmancer (talk) 10:11, 4 May 2015 (UTC)
@Rocknrollmancer: I think it's a good image for Light's page. Better than the one of him seen in various locations in the earlier all-white 'Real Madrid tribute' strip. Palace fans will appreciate the 'old' Holmesdale Terrace in the background too! Eagleash (talk) 10:33, 4 May 2015 (UTC)
Roger, WilCo...I've re-formatted it to show more terracing than the earlier version I prepared - I couldn't have anticipated this aspect, but that's why I wanted your opinion. I'll put a caption on and you can tweak it as required. Laters.--Rocknrollmancer (talk) 15:25, 4 May 2015 (UTC)
  Done--Rocknrollmancer (talk) 19:35, 4 May 2015 (UTC)

@Rocknrollmancer: Great!! Thanks. Eagleash (talk) 19:44, 4 May 2015 (UTC)

Advice needed

Hello Eagleash, I hope you don't mind but as you were so helpful with the on the Super Dream article is was wondering if I could ask for your help? I have been drafting a total rewrite of the CB400T article in my sandbox and it is about as complete as I feel I can take it. My question to you is what to do next regarding putting it up? I am unsure on the etiquette in this situation and I didn't want to just put it up there without asking an experienced Wikipedian first. Thank you! MAbbey (talk) 04:32, 4 May 2015 (UTC)

Hi @MAbbey: - my first suggestion would have been to merge the existing article with your sandbox, but I see your sandbox has a long history with multiple topics covered. Therefore I suggest you simply copy and paste the content from your sandbox into the existing article, and use an edit summary along the lines of "re-writing article, content moved from my sandbox" - please give me a shout if you need any more help. GiantSnowman 09:36, 4 May 2015 (UTC)
Hi and thank you @GiantSnowman:. I have copied and pasted the rewritten article from my sandbox. I'll leave a message on the talk page as well. Once again thank you for taking the time to help. MAbbey (talk) 10:25, 4 May 2015 (UTC)

Not enough recent disruption to justify protection (yet), but I've added to my watchlist and will monitor. GiantSnowman 11:44, 4 May 2015 (UTC)

David Lindsay (footballer) / CPFC

Regarding David Lindsay, yes the redirect was meant to be back to the disambigaution page - we have David Lindsay (English footballer) and David Lindsay (Scottish footballer). As for CPFC I have reverted the other user, I cannot see any merit in their deletion of referenced content. GiantSnowman 16:42, 7 May 2015 (UTC)

CB125T

Hi, I stumbled upon your draft for the CB125T. I have put the dimensions in, I hope you don't mind. I have a little bit of research on this model. I was going to have a go at this model a little while ago but the internet seems a bit short on decent references on it. Mostly it's just original research on fan sites. I have a copy of a brochure with the usual stats. I does have the claimed bhp and torque as well but alas we know the score on that (it had 17 bhp or 12 bhp in the UK btw) :) Let me know if you want to work in peace and quiet, I won't be offended MAbbey (talk) 19:25, 23 June 2015 (UTC)

T Bone

Gooday A.S.H. - just to confirm that I am still on the cae of the CD175 and will start to clean-up the content soon, but need to do a bit more research on the difference between the pressed steel frame and tubular (gearbox mountings at the crankcases and CB160). I have started very superficially to look at Underbone which I imagine will take a long time to trawl-through, due to my scepticism. On that note, when researching other stuff I have also been conscious of 1960s usage of 'step-through' and found two references to Mokick, of which I was not aware, even though the mags themselves have been in the house for 50 years (same house). One is in the prose, the other in a Suzuki GB advert "Suzuki Suzy Mokick". It Google-tranlates from the German as meaning a moped with a kick-start, [3], hence an early type of noped? There is a wiki-redirect from 2011, Mokick to Scooter (motorcycle). Rgds,--Rocknrollmancer (talk) 22:55, 26 June 2015 (UTC)

Pitchero

As far as I was aware, Pitchero is a web-hosting tool used by lower-non-league clubs wanting to get a cheap official website up, so if it's a club's own site on Pitchero then I'd say treat it as you would any other club's proper website. GiantSnowman 08:45, 8 July 2015 (UTC)

Commer vans

The unlamented FC was kept in production for BT long after it should have been replaced (also the Morris Ital van). They were badged as Commers until very late. The final change was the same one (1979?) that caused Ford to make the Cortina Mk IV into the Cortina Mk V - European rules that indicators needed to be visible from the sides, not just ahead. This caused a very minor redesign, a new plastic grille with new wrap-around lights and a Dodge badge with the new pentagon logo, the branding change shared between the Talbot T on cars and the Dodge pentagon on vans and trucks.

There were, incidentally, the worst light vans ever made. Narrower front track than rear and a front axle behind the driver's arse. Impossible to parallel park or to reverse around a corner, especially in a small telephone exchange yard. Hateful things.

Also note that a lot of the crossover with Dodge light trucks involved Renault too. Look at European military one tonners. Andy Dingley (talk) 21:52, 10 July 2015 (UTC)

Why are you telling me this? :) I owned one of the damned things Eagleash (talk) 21:54, 10 July 2015 (UTC)

(talk page stalker) I used to live near a guy who bought one, painted it purple and lived in it by the side of the road for years. They didn't tow it away in the end so much as sweep it away with a broom. Bretonbanquet (talk) 13:13, 11 July 2015 (UTC)

The one I had was bought at auction to try to sell at a profit (!). It was indescribably slow and when a market trader came to view, it crawled up South Norwood Hill flat out at 15mph (generous estimate). He still bought it and we made four quid! Eagleash (talk) 13:17, 11 July 2015 (UTC)

Some of you are very cruel...I can still remember the registrations - how sad is that? Our 'early' van FAL 366J, one seat only, the business had from new, low mileage and good mechanically went rotten and was sold to a gypo-type trader at our car auctions - I loaded it onto a drop-side Tranny using two oil drums and the forklift with extensions, under directions of the new owner. The replacement PVO 501M was well-used from the contract-hire side of commercial sales but had three seats. My brother, a National Coal Board employee was very impressed with the petrol engines compared to the noisy NCB-spec diesels with insulated undertray for the people-carriers. When set up right, they would hustle along no problem despite the narrow track - due to low gearing and commanding driving position, mostly. Oh happy daze!--Rocknrollmancer (talk) 14:50, 11 July 2015 (UTC)

Hello. I agree with you that Lower Marsh Market should be merged with Lower Marsh. Perhaps you should be bold and just do it? Both are stubs anyway. At least we'd get a start or C.Zigzig20s (talk) 09:44, 1 August 2015 (UTC)

Lola T370

Hmm, maybe it's a more personal scale that I use; it doesn't so much lack adequate reliable sources as any reliable sources. Plus, as you say, there's basically nothing about the car, just a list of races it took part in. It's a very basic article. Anyway, Small would be a good start, maybe just slap a ref in at the end of each paragraph rather than having to source each race; it's not contentious info or anything and I can't see anyone challenging it. I haven't checked but if any of the drivers involved have a F1 Rejects profile, there might be something there. I have a decent reference book of F1 cars (Hodges' A–Z), but sadly I don't have it here with me; that might have to wait a few weeks, but it will surely have some good info on the car itself. Anything Motor Sport can throw up would be a help. I'll check FORIX and my usual go-to sources for anything useful, but I might draw a blank. I'm sure that we could bash out a half-decent article in time. Bretonbanquet (talk) 20:21, 1 September 2015 (UTC)

I get the feeling that the Lolas might have been a bit obscure even then, as a stopgap. Smallman might be worth an article if he designed other cars; again, Hodges' book might enlighten us about him once I get my hands on it again. I had no idea about F1 Rejects' problems, I guess I haven't visited in a while, and I didn't know you contributed to it – I always enjoyed that site. I hope that it can be resurrected to an extent in due course. It'd be a shame to lose that resource, to say the least. Regarding the T370 article again, I would like to rewrite the 1974 season text just to phase out the "this race saw this" and "that race saw that" style, which I think doesn't help matters. I will have a go at that soon and introduce more detail on retirement issues and qualifying performances. We can at least do that. Bretonbanquet (talk) 21:19, 1 September 2015 (UTC)
I'll have a go tomorrow if I don't end up working late. Feel free to add your input :) Bretonbanquet (talk) 22:04, 1 September 2015 (UTC)
I didn't work late but I did lose my net connection... sorry about that. Back now, so I'll have a go at the T370 article. It's definitely better after your edits. I'll try and stretch it out a bit, maybe make two or three paragraphs. Regarding Small, I tend to trust that book. Moreover, FORIX also make no mention of the T371 being used in 1975, and nor does this source, complete with chassis numbers [4]. Then there's this [5] and this [6], which say Stommelen used the T371 in South Africa, although FORIX says he used the GH-1. This leads me to suspect that the T371 and the GH-1 are the same car, with some kind of trickery involved in the naming of it. I will delve further. Bretonbanquet (talk) 19:37, 3 September 2015 (UTC)
It's becoming clearer! With that info in mind, check out this link, specifically post #54 [7]. The only question might be exactly when the renaming took place, i.e. was it before or after it was first raced? Either way, it looks like effectively the same car, so we should probably merge the T371 article with the GH1 article, no? Bretonbanquet (talk) 20:25, 3 September 2015 (UTC)
See what you think of this [8] – looks like it might make sense of the other sources? I've expanded the T370 article a bit; although it's still just a list of races it has a little more meat on the bones. Bretonbanquet (talk) 21:28, 3 September 2015 (UTC)
OK, I think I've got it. Firstly, we can say for sure that Hill and Stommelen used T370s in Argentina and Brazil. In South Africa, Hill continued with the T370 while Stommelen debuted the T371. After that race, the T371 was renamed the GH1 and Migault used it in Spain. Stommelen was given the new, second-built GH1 which had originally been designated GH2 because they were using chassis numbers as model names, like Tyrrell used to do. So although at the time of the Spanish GP, it was called the GH2 (making Jenks' contemporary account correct), it was retrospectively changed to GH1 when they scrapped that idea of using chassis numbers as model names. Stommelen had smashed it to bits in Spain anyway obviously, which was why there was only one GH1 (the ex-T371) in Monaco, and Hill drove it. So technically, Hill never drove the T371 although only because it had been renamed the GH1. He also had a try in the T370 in Monaco as you say, but to no avail. So Hill gives up, and for Belgium, Brise drove the first GH1 (ex-T371) and Migault drove the hastily-built third GH1. By July they had built a fourth GH1 and stopped using the first one. The T370 had become an occasional spare car, unused after Monaco. GH2 then became the name of the car they were building for 1976, and this was the car Brise was testing on their ill-fated trip to France, and it never raced. At least I think that's how it went. I think it was I who said the IP wasn't causing problems! Ha! Glad you like the T370 article, feel free to tinker with it. Bretonbanquet (talk) 22:33, 3 September 2015 (UTC)
Yes, that's basically it. I don't think the IP's tables reflect this new understanding at all, so they'll need fixing. I guess we can't blame him for not figuring it out since it took us a while ourselves! I'd definitely go with the merge of T371 and GH1, and I think a bold merge might be in order, leaving a redirect. Only a few people are going to notice or care at the moment, and I'm sure they'll understand. We can explain the renaming in the article and if anyone asks, we can always direct them to our pages by way of further explanation. The GH2 article is about a car that never raced, but I guess that's fine as it can all be sourced etc. I half-noticed a lot of images flying around, but I didn't realise it was all the same guy! He has been busy... Bretonbanquet (talk) 23:09, 3 September 2015 (UTC)
Sounds good! I love it when a plan comes together :) Bretonbanquet (talk) 23:35, 3 September 2015 (UTC)
That all looks pretty good :) I might do some work on the GH1 article at some point, expanding the text a bit, but it looks fine at the moment. It's great that now the results tables are correct! I've expanded the 1975 section at the T370 article, to include Hill's DNQ in it at Monaco – that article has come a long way in a week or so! Bretonbanquet (talk) 20:47, 4 September 2015 (UTC)

Nos in results tables

That's right, I recall there was a discussion about it and we decided against them. Tvx1 has a particular dislike for them and he removes them wherever he sees them, which I think is good practice! Cheers, Bretonbanquet (talk) 21:03, 17 September 2015 (UTC)

Not so much a dislike. Just putting into practice the project's consensus. By the way, our picture frenzied IP seems to be one of the IP's who added numbers to those tables. Tvx1 12:26, 22 September 2015 (UTC)
Cut and paste from my talk page: Tvx1 12:50, 22 September 2015 (UTC)
Hello, not sure if you are asking or stating (?) but I'm not certain, without trawling through all his edits, whether or not the IP photo-guy has been adding Nos. to tables. (In general, I don't think he has, other than where there were already Nos. columns). Eagleash (talk) 12:42, 22 September 2015 (UTC)
Firstly, let's keep the discussion in one place. That makes it easier. I really had a tough time making sense of the below discussion which is spread over the talk page of you, Bretonbanquet, GiantSnowman and Zwerg Nase.
Secondly, I mentioned that IP adding numbers when I saw this edit. Tvx1 12:50, 22 September 2015 (UTC)
It's good for the brain power, like playing chess or doing sudoku!! :) It was Embassy Hill where I spotted the Nos. col which he added to and I then took them all out. I hadn't spotted that more recent edit (yet!), but I have that IP on the list. Eagleash (talk) 12:54, 22 September 2015 (UTC)

IP pics

Lord, where does he get them all from? You're right that he doesn't seem to get it. All we can do really is keep taking out the excess ones – leaving in a reasonable number. If he persists, then maybe ANI could be an option. Maybe an admin or two will know how to deal with this kind of thing. Bretonbanquet (talk) 16:06, 19 September 2015 (UTC)

Yeah, that's not acceptable, and I've removed a bunch from there again. There must be admins that are experienced with images, and excess quantities of images. If "your" admin doesn't know then he might know someone who does. Bretonbanquet (talk) 16:53, 19 September 2015 (UTC)
Giant Snowman is a pretty decent admin. I asked the IP to go to Jim Clark's talk page, and amazingly, he did. He's posted all the photos there so no doubt the conversation will sort of squeeze itself down the middle... Bretonbanquet (talk) 18:27, 19 September 2015 (UTC)

@Bretonbanquet: (and Eagleash of course!) - I suggest you gather together a list of the IPs he is using, diffs of his edits (including the nasty comment you say he left in a summary), diffs of you trying to talk to him (which he has ignored), and then raise at WP:ANI to request a range block or similar. GiantSnowman 15:15, 20 September 2015 (UTC)

Glad to hear progress has been made, but please bear in mind WP:NOTGALLERY. GiantSnowman 11:37, 21 September 2015 (UTC)
Yes, sounds like a good plan - you seem to be on top of this, but please let me know if you need any more help. GiantSnowman 11:45, 21 September 2015 (UTC)

Yep, Eagleash, I agree with all you said on my talk page. A cautious approach might be best; it seems he has some misconceptions about images in general, such as some kind of monetary value he places on them. If he can be helped to see where he's going wrong, the whole thing might be easier. Agree also with leaving a note for the other editor you mentioned. Bretonbanquet (talk) 21:59, 21 September 2015 (UTC)

What a pain. His grammar is so bad that I am wondering if he's playing a little game of some sort. Are the IPs all coming from the same place? Bretonbanquet (talk) 19:21, 28 September 2015 (UTC)
Yeah, Salisbury and Andover are pretty close together – close enough for it to be the same guy anyway. He really has had long enough to figure this out by now, so let's give him a few more days then if he persists we'll have to do something. Bretonbanquet (talk) 20:50, 28 September 2015 (UTC)

If you have a list of IPs then you should be able to request a range block at WP:ANI. GiantSnowman 13:32, 4 October 2015 (UTC)

He's shot himself in the foot big time with that neat little message he left on his talk page. He won't receive a lot of sympathy after that. Let's see if he comes back after his block (or during it) and see how he reacts to it. Bretonbanquet (talk) 17:52, 4 October 2015 (UTC)

Keshi Anderson

Just done a quick search, no RS that confirm he is Nigerian, though a few non-RS certainly mention him being born in Nigeria. However Soccerway and Soccerbase both have him as English. GiantSnowman 08:30, 3 October 2015 (UTC)

Nice to see the article grows. Regards, Eddaido (talk) 21:51, 6 October 2015 (UTC)

Wayne Martin (footballer, born 1965)

I noticed that there is no page for Wayne Martin (footballer), which I was wondering if you were going to make one for that as well or something. (Looks like there are 3 people with this name-maybe a DAB page is needed btw) Wgolf (talk) 01:04, 13 October 2015 (UTC)

Talk:HondaCBF125

The above talk page has been created in error (not by me! :P) where a comment was intended for Talk:Honda CBF125 (space after 'Honda'). Comments have been copied across and the wrong page should be 'deleted' (in effect a C&P merge has taken place). Not certain if it can just be deleted as superfluous or if it needs a re-direct and cannot find the correct appropriate tag. Thanks Eagleash (talk) 09:41, 14 October 2015 (UTC)

I've tagged it for deletion per CSD G8. --  Kethrus |talk to me  12:02, 14 October 2015 (UTC)

Embassy Hill template

That looks fine to me! I think that could be moved to mainspace and placed where necessary, such as the car articles and the team one. I don't know if they're regularly placed on driver articles or not really. Bretonbanquet (talk) 16:49, 18 October 2015 (UTC)

Lola LC91

The above page was recently created in its talk-page by an IP editor well-known to the Formula One project who has a habit of doing this sort of thing. I moved the created page into mainspace but now find that there are two identical pages; one each in Talk:Lola LC91 and Lola LC91. I am not sure of the correct procedure to fix this. Thanks. Eagleash (talk) 14:40, 22 October 2015 (UTC)

Hi, Eagleash – the talk page was turned into a redirect to the subject page as a result of your page move, and that's SOP. I just converted the redirect back to a talk page and added the F1 banner, so that should bring it back to normal for you. Joys! Painius  14:58, 22 October 2015 (UTC)
@Painius: Thanks, but I'm not sure what SOP means — in this context. Eagleash (talk) 15:03, 22 October 2015 (UTC)
There's something amiss with the notifications system, because I didn't get pinged. Anyway, so sorry, as SOP is an initialism for "standard operating procedure". In other words, it's normal for the page you move to be left behind as a redirect, and {{redr|from move}} now automatically tags such redirects. Painius  02:52, 23 October 2015 (UTC)

Caterham F1

Wel thank you for taking down Stevens as a notable driver (even though I root for him), but Lotterer has been a member of an F1 team before, he was test driver for Jaguar from 2001-03. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 14JeAgLeS14 (talkcontribs) 13:11, 23 October 2015 (UTC)

I have added lot of text with book references in the history section. Also added references to tags. The article may be ready for DYK nomination. If you agree, then please nominate on DYK.Nvvchar. 05:38, 25 October 2015 (UTC)

Inboard discs

Do you think it's appropriate to use this term in a motorcycle article CBX550, as clearly the discs are not 'inboard' of anything except a rain/dust cover, and were not adopted widely (or at all?) otherwise. Part of my motivation in trying to understand how Wikipedia corrupts history has been to observe how over-zealous wikilinking is applied (think - Underbone). I have sat on this for a long time, and have an original MCN where the model was introduced with no mention of 'inboard'. One of the main corruptors of some Wikipedia topics I have been investigating for nearly three years has recently used this term recently in his social media on a pic of his 1960s machine crashed in 1970s (with the 59 Club breakdown vehicle in attendance seen in the background).

Is there any wider use of the term 'inboard discs' that I am unaware of on 'conventional' solo machines? Does the workshop manual quoted use the term 'inboard'? Are the discs themselves ventilated, or is it the housing, or both? Thx.--Rocknrollmancer (talk) 13:03, 31 October 2015 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that you've added some links pointing to disambiguation pages. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Bot automation at Wikipedia:Today's articles for improvement

  Greetings WikiProject TAFI members!

Over the past two weeks, there has been extensive discussion on introducing bot automation to assist with maintenance of the Today's Articles for Improvement project. A bot has now been approved for trial and will carry out the weekly duties. The bots first run will occur around 00:00, 22 November 2015 (UTC) (midnight on Sunday).

If you have been assisting any of the weekly maintenance tasks, please refrain from doing so this week. The bot needs to be tested and proven it can do the job, and it only gets one chance per week. The tasks will include:

Updating the accomplishments and archiving selections is still done manually, along with daily tasks such as adding approved entries to the articles for improvement page. These will become automated in the near future.

We hope the bot proves to serve well, and by carrying out the routine housekeeping tasks we can boost the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the project. MusikBot thanks you for your service in helping with the weekly tasks in the past, and for your cooperation during this trial period :)

ArbCom elections are now open!

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Frank Parsons

Maybe move the Aussie to Frank Parsons (Australian football) and the Brit to Frank Parsons (association football), and redirect Frank Parsons (footballer) to the disambig page (fixing broken links etc. along the way)? GiantSnowman 17:20, 14 December 2015 (UTC)

Oh God, sorry, I misread the article on the Australian. Maybe move them to Frank Parsons (Australian footballer) and Frank Parsons (English footballer) (as used by Chris Bush) and hatnote between the two as well? GiantSnowman 17:28, 14 December 2015 (UTC)

Stan Charlton

I'll have a look for you later. Might be worth asking at WT:FOOTY to see if anyone has the Joyce pre-war Football League book (I don't). GiantSnowman 12:24, 4 January 2016 (UTC)

Hi, I've had a look and I've created a quick stub at Stanley Charlton as it'll probably be easier to do more research if we have a space to collate information. GiantSnowman 18:23, 4 January 2016 (UTC)
I've merged the histories. Ideally we would disambiguate by year of birth - Stan Charlton (footballer, born 1900 and Stan Charlton (footballer, born 1929, with Stan Charlton as a disambiguation and Stanley Charlton as a redirect to the disambiguation. Links will need fixing accordingly. GiantSnowman 12:45, 5 January 2016 (UTC)
If you'd prefer to use 'Jr' and 'Sr' then feel free - but I suggest you create redirects to make it clear, and yes it's probably worth adding hatnotes. GiantSnowman 12:45, 6 January 2016 (UTC)

Motor Sport Magazine

Hey! Once again about the MMM references: Are the page numbers really different on the website archive compared to the print? After all, there are scanned pages of the print version supplied there as well, which would lead me to think that we can cite the actual printed magazine using the archive? Zwerg Nase (talk) 10:49, 22 January 2016 (UTC)

Zwerg Nase Yes quite different. The page Nos. in the hard copy run from 1 to whatever through each volume (a year's issues) hence page 25 in Feb 19XX will be something like page 130+ in the magazine. Also articles in the archive have only one page No. whereas the hard copies can have 2, 3 or more depending on the type of article. However, your choice how you want to do them of course. Regards, Eagleash (talk) 10:58, 22 January 2016 (UTC)
In that case the cite web template is probably the better choice. I'll get to changing all of them shortly. Thank you once again for your help! I have also now entered the article for peer review to evaluate a possible FA nomination. Zwerg Nase (talk) 11:05, 22 January 2016 (UTC)
