Logical punctuation

edit

I reverted your edit to Laser. Wikipedia typically uses logical punctuation with quotes, rather than the typesetter's convention that is more common in the United States.--Srleffler (talk) 23:58, 6 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

If you're interested, there's a whole essay on this at Wikipedia:Logical quotation on Wikipedia.--Srleffler (talk) 00:04, 7 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Draft:Mumbo Jumbo (YouTuber) concern

edit

Hi there, I'm HasteurBot. I just wanted to let you know that Draft:Mumbo Jumbo (YouTuber), a page you created, has not been edited in 5 months. The Articles for Creation space is not an indefinite storage location for content that is not appropriate for articlespace.

If your submission is not edited soon, it could be nominated for deletion. If you would like to attempt to save it, you will need to improve it.

You may request Userfication of the content if it meets requirements.

If the deletion has already occured, instructions on how you may be able to retrieve it are available at WP:REFUND/G13.

Thank you for your attention. HasteurBot (talk) 01:35, 11 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Maybe not

edit

You say "I mainly decide whether an article should be written in American or British English depending on the subject of the article, then convert the article into the appropriate dialect."

That's a terrible idea for an inexperienced user. Really terrible. Not just because it leads to stupid mistakes (e.g. [1] - the diphthong is in Hahnemann's original writings) but also because changing from en-gb to en--us or vice-versa is very often controversial.

I suggest you find something less contentious to do. Guy (help!) 22:33, 16 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

ENGVAR

edit

Hi Electos, please don't make edits like this and this. That article has existed since 2001, and as you can see, it isn't in British English, and there's no reason it should be. WP:ENGVAR states: "When an English variety's consistent usage has been established in an article, maintain it in the absence of consensus to the contrary. With few exceptions (e.g., when a topic has strong national ties or the change reduces ambiguity), there is no valid reason for changing from one acceptable option to another. ... An article should not be edited or renamed simply to switch from one variety of English to another."

It's also worth noting that British English doesn't necessarily use organise rather than organize. See Oxford spelling and {{Use British English Oxford spelling}}. Something to bear in mind. Many thanks, SarahSV (talk) 19:59, 20 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Your draft article, Draft:Mumbo Jumbo (YouTuber)

edit

Hello, Electos242. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Mumbo Jumbo".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thank you for your submission to Wikipedia! UnitedStatesian (talk) 21:37, 10 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
