The MTA Playing swithceroo with its buses: December 2015
Hi. I know you have good intentions with your edits, but MTA Bus and NYCT Bus are two different divisions. Therefore, I have undid your edits. Please feel free to discuss it at WT:NYCPT if you have questions. Thanks. epic genius (talk) 13:44, 30 November 2015 (UTC)
I don't think so, anyway on Saturday after Thanksgiving Nov 28, 2015, I was driving around Staten Island from New Jersey. After crossing the Outerbridge, I went around Page Avenue, and I noticed many newly repainted Orion 7NG Hybrid buses in the 44xx numbers series operating on the S74 and S78 has "MTA Bus" on their sides. Also bus 6012 operating on the S78 in Tottenville was labelled "MTA Bus" as well. Then I drove over to Queens to visit some friends and went to Mitchell Gardens to visit more friends, and found at least a dozen or so 200 series New Flyer C40 series buses operating on the Q25 around Linden Place near the Whitestone Shopping Center on Linden Place & Whitestone Expressway freshly repainted, and has "MTA New York City Bus" on their sides.
Also I saw some Orion V and RTS buses on the Q50 (formerly Queens Transit QBx1) still with "MTA New York City Bus" on their sides. Bus number was 6142 or 6143 since the last digit was slightly altered, and was making a right turn from Linden Place onto the Whitestone Expressway towards Co-op City. The back of the bus was all-white with "MTA New York City Bus" on the top left of its white painted air conditioner cover.
Also, many articulated buses operating in Manhattan on the M15, M15SBS, M101, M102, and M103 bus lines are labelled "MTA Bus" as well. Some are even labeled "MTA - with a long gap in the middle - Bus" as well.
So what exactly are they doing, Playing Switcheroo or something ???
My advice is to just leave it at MTA Regional Bus, because switching it back will probably do mare harm than good If you think about it, since bus switching has been going on since "MTA Bus" operations began back in 2005. But I don't think they are relabeling, or cant make up their minds on how to relabel its buses properly as I can see.
- Yes, MTA Bus does use NYC Bus livery sometimes because they have hand-me-down buses (hence the MTA Bus labels). However, these routes, especially the Queens and express routes, are still legally operated by MTA Bus. epic genius (talk) 05:04, 1 December 2015 (UTC)
Yes,its making all of our heads spin - Wheeeeeeeeeeee...... Its especially bad in Staten Island, where may newly repainted buses are relabeled "MTA Bus". Maybe they want the NYCTA buses outta there !!!!
What they need are painting standards, and which bus number get what !!!!
There's also one freshly repainted 4000 series bus operating on the Q70 with "MTA New York City Bus" on its side, with interior luggage racks too. On the correctly assigned line, but with the improper "MTA-NYCB" label.
- Yeah... MTA livery is messed up. epic genius (talk) 14:37, 1 December 2015 (UTC)

Staten Island Railway
Thanks for helping me cut down. I have cut down a lot, but it is hard to cut down the rest of it, as I put it in the article. Could you also assess the history article when you have a chance? Thanks. --Kew Gardens 613 (talk) 00:36, 6 December 2015 (UTC)
New York City Subway as a good article?
Hi, Epicgenius, could you help me get the New York City Subway article to good article status? Thanks. Even if it doesn't pass, it will help the article be improved. --Kew Gardens 613 (talk) 19:50, 6 December 2015 (UTC)
- @Kew Gardens 613: Absolutely, although this article needs a lot of work and may take a long time. Many sections of this article have insufficient references and/or grammar and prose problems. epicgenius (talk) 19:53, 6 December 2015 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. Station article leads
You say "New Buffalo is a train station in New Buffalo, Michigan" when in reality New Buffalo is a city in Berrien County in the U.S. state of Michigan and New Buffalo station is served by Amtrak. Why do you insist on frivolously changing the lead in many articles to this format, when there was nothing wrong with the originals? Secondarywaltz (talk) 18:05, 10 December 2015 (UTC)
- @Secondarywaltz: Because the proper name of the station is "New Buffalo," which serves the city that's also named "New Buffalo." "Station" is not capitalized in the station's name and is only used to distinguish it from the city. Therefore, that leaves "New Buffalo" as the official name, or, as noted on the time table, "New Buffalo, MI." epicgenius (talk) 19:23, 10 December 2015 (UTC)
- Right! The station is served by Amtrak and New Buffalo is the name of the city it is in. Secondarywaltz (talk) 19:28, 10 December 2015 (UTC)
- Yes, but actually, Amtrak names the vast majority of its stations after the city/town where the station is located. epicgenius (talk) 19:31, 10 December 2015 (UTC)
- Exactly. People in town say "I am going to the station to catch the train", but that is assumed in railway company timetables - because trains go to stations. Your frivolous changes do not improve the content in any way. Secondarywaltz (talk) 20:00, 10 December 2015 (UTC)
- That is where we disagree. I think that when people travel from one place to another, they don't say, "I am going to [that other place] station," they just say "I am going to [that other place]." Stations are named after destinations, and people do not often say "[destination] station" unless it's to distinguish from the city they are going to. epicgenius (talk) 20:01, 10 December 2015 (UTC)
- That is exactly what I said. "Station" is assumed. Secondarywaltz (talk) 20:04, 10 December 2015 (UTC)
- So why are we bolding "Station" in the lead? It's assumed that the name belongs to the station. For example, in New Buffalo (Amtrak station), it's assumed that people call the station"New Buffalo" unless they want to distinguish from the city or come from nearby. epicgenius (talk) 20:06, 10 December 2015 (UTC)
- Why is the article called "New Buffalo (Amtrak station)"? Because that is what it is about. You are going to a lot of work, changing things that are quite satisfactory the way they are. That's it. Secondarywaltz (talk) 20:21, 10 December 2015 (UTC)
- Why is it not called "New Buffalo station"? Up until this year, there wasn't really any major discussion about WP:USSTATION. And before WP:USSTATION, most of the articles about Amtrak stations did not include "Station" in the lead. epicgenius (talk) 20:23, 10 December 2015 (UTC)
- Good question? I am not going to get involved in Amtrak station renaming, except to cleanup afterwards. Let's leave this behind us and cooperate to improve content. Secondarywaltz (talk) 20:37, 10 December 2015 (UTC)
- That definitely sounds better than moving not-broken pages or fixing not-broken text. epicgenius (talk) 20:41, 10 December 2015 (UTC)

You are making controversial moves, there is a requested move process there for a reason. Jeni (talk) 15:20, 11 December 2015 (UTC)
- This is a controversial title, so it should be disambiguated. WP:USSTATION conflicts with WP:UKSTATION in this case, unfortunately. Still, please don't favor one station over another for little reason if both have the right to the name. epicgenius (talk) 15:24, 11 December 2015 (UTC)

File:Disney underground utilidor.jpg
I noticed you were the one who uploaded File:Disney underground utilidor.jpg. Right now, it has the licensing Template:Non-free architectural work. Since the Utilidors are completed, this licence doesn't seem like the right one for this picture. I don't know what licensing would be correct, since I don't think the Utilidors themselves are copyrighted. Elisfkc (talk) 20:12, 12 December 2015 (UTC)
- @Elisfkc: I don't know what the original copyright was, but since it was copied from an external website, I thought there was automatically copyright of some kind. epicgenius (talk) 01:07, 13 December 2015 (UTC)
- @Epicgenius: My thought is to replace it with either this one or this one. While they are clearly posed, they clearly fall under Template:Non-free promotional since they are posed. I don't really care which, or even know which one would be better. Elisfkc (talk) 02:38, 13 December 2015 (UTC)
- @Elisfkc: The second one is bigger & doesn't have watermarks, so I'd prefer that file, if we replace the current image. epicgenius (talk) 02:40, 13 December 2015 (UTC)
- @Epicgenius: Ok, well I'm going to replace the old one, since the license is a little murky on the old one. Elisfkc (talk) 02:44, 13 December 2015 (UTC)
- @Elisfkc: You should have uploaded under a new file name rather than overwritten the old file. Otherwise, it could be confusing what the old file was. ;) Anyway, thanks. epicgenius (talk) 02:47, 13 December 2015 (UTC)

DYK for Gateway Center (Brooklyn)
On 16 December 2015, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Gateway Center (Brooklyn), which you recently nominated. The fact was ... that the Gateway Center shopping mall in Brooklyn, New York, is built on a former landfill? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Gateway Center (Brooklyn). You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, live views, daily totals), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page. |
A favor?...
Hey, could you please take a look at the platform diagram at Fullerton Transportation Center? It pretty clearly needs to be fixed/improved, but I'm not as much of an expert with platform diagrams as you are! and so am not sure how to fix it... Thanks in advance! --IJBall (contribs • talk) 05:33, 16 December 2015 (UTC)

North Shore Branch
Hi, epicgenius. Is it possible that you could help me improve the North Shore Branch article to good article status? Thanks.
- @Kew Gardens 613: Maybe in a couple of weeks, as I am about to go on a break. epicgenius (talk) 01:08, 18 December 2015 (UTC)
Enjoy your break! It is well deserved! --Kew Gardens 613 (talk) 01:26, 18 December 2015 (UTC)

Are you planning to make a pest of yourself again....
...and return to the bad old days where you automatically reverted without thinking? I hope not. BMK (talk) 00:31, 20 December 2015 (UTC)
- @Beyond My Ken: No, I did think it out. I also explained why on the talk page (I apologize if I did not do so on the first place; I did not think it was controversial). For the sake of the consistency, it should be "LES" or "Lower East Side." However, if you want to undo my edit again, I will not object because by doing so, you seem to know better than I do on this matter—which, obviously, is not relevant, but well.... epicgenius (talk) 00:36, 20 December 2015 (UTC)
- So ... you lied. I'm hardly surprised, given the many lies you told at the beginning of your editing career, but I had hoped you were past that. I'm very disappointed to be wrong about that. BMK (talk) 01:01, 20 December 2015 (UTC)
- I never said I wouldn't rephrase, I merely implied that I would not reinstate that wording. And yes, I will keep lying to put the truth in. What's a few lies between editors? (That was a joke, in case you didn't get that either.) Anyway, who cares, a word is a word. epicgenius (talk) 01:26, 20 December 2015 (UTC)

VisualEditor News #6—2015
Read this in another language • Subscription list
Since the last newsletter, the VisualEditor Team has fixed many bugs and expanded the mathematics formula tool. Their workboard is available in Phabricator. Their current priorities are improving support for languages such as Japanese and Arabic, and providing rich-media tools for formulæ, charts, galleries and uploading.
Recent improvements
You can switch from the wikitext editor to the visual editor after you start editing.
The LaTeX mathematics formula editor has been significantly expanded. (T118616) You can see the formula as you change the LaTeX code. You can click buttons to insert the correct LaTeX code for many symbols.
Future changes
The single edit tab project will combine the "Edit" and "Edit source" tabs into a single "Edit" tab, like the system already used on the mobile website. (T102398) Initially, the "Edit" tab will open whichever editing environment you used last time. Your last editing choice will be stored as a cookie for logged-out users and as an account preference for logged-in editors. Logged-in editors will be able to set a default editor in the Editing tab of Special:Preferences in the drop-down menu about "Editing mode:".
The visual editor will be offered to all editors at the following Wikipedias in early 2016: Amharic, Buginese, Min Dong, Cree, Manx, Hakka, Armenian, Georgian, Pontic, Serbo-Croatian, Tigrinya, Mingrelian, Zhuang, and Min Nan. (T116523) Please post your comments and the language(s) that you tested at the feedback thread on mediawiki.org. The developers would like to know how well it works. Please tell them what kind of computer, web browser, and keyboard you are using.
In 2016, the feedback pages for the visual editor on many Wikipedias will be redirected to mediawiki.org. (T92661)
Testing opportunities
- Please try the new system for the single edit tab on test2.wikipedia.org. You can edit while logged out to see how it works for logged-out editors, or you can create a separate account to be able to set your account's preferences. Please share your thoughts about the single edit tab system at the feedback topic on mediawiki.org or sign up for formal user research (type "single edit tab" in the question about other areas you're interested in). The new system has not been finalized, and your feedback can affect the outcome. The team particularly wants your thoughts about the options in Special:Preferences. The current choices in Special:Preferences are:
- Remember my last editor,
- Always give me the visual editor if possible,
- Always give me the source editor, and
- Show me both editor tabs. (This is the current state for people using the visual editor. None of these options will be visible if you have disabled the visual editor in your preferences at that wiki.)
- Can you read and type in Korean or Japanese? Language engineer David Chan needs people who know which tools people use to type in some languages. If you speak Japanese or Korean, you can help him test support for these languages. Please see the instructions at mw:VisualEditor/IME Testing#What to test if you can help, and report it on Phabricator (Korean - Japanese) or on Wikipedia (Korean - Japanese).
If you aren't reading this in your favorite language, then please help us with translations! Subscribe to the Translators mailing list or contact us directly, so that we can notify you when the next issue is ready. Thank you!

MTA switcheroos
Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year 2016 to you too.
Here's some more MTA switcheroos;
4154 - Labelled MTA-New York City Bus operating on the Q60 (MTA Bus) Queens Blvd. route. 4136 - Labelled MTA-Bus operating on the Q46 (MTA New York City Bus) Union Tpke. route. 4648 - Labelled with just MTA, without MTA Bus, and without MTA New York City operating on the Q60. This should be the new standards, and it eliminates the confusion. 9132 - Labelled MTA-Bus operating on the Q17 (MTA New York City Bus) on Hillside Av. several newly repainted 7000 series Orion buses originally factory labelled MTA New York City Bus, has been repainted, and are mis-labelled MTA-Bus and are operating in service in Staten Island, NY with newly installed bicycle racks.
Also, there's a 94XX series 1997 RTS bus operating on the Q46 with MTA New York City Bus on the curb side and on the road side, while the back has a replacement black panel with MTA Bus mounted onto the lower white back where the rear route sign is located. This 1997 series buses never operated on any MTA Bus routes as far as my knowledge goes.
Thats all for now. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.29.56.34 (talk) 05:39, 25 December 2015 (UTC)

LIRR Infobox Stations
