DYK for World Trade Center station (PATH)
On 1 August 2018, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article World Trade Center station (PATH), which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the $4 billion World Trade Center Transportation Hub, built after the September 11 attacks, was described as the world's most expensive train station? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/World Trade Center station (PATH). You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, World Trade Center station (PATH)), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.
I was wondering if you could take a look at a Template you created and how it looks in an article
World Trade Center station (PATH) has the Template:Lower Manhattan transit template in it at the Adjacent transit connections section. When a reader goes to read the article the entire Template shows up and mashes the text (starting with "The Transportation Hub is designed to connect the PATH subway system to the New York City Subway system.") over to the left side. Is there a way to enable "Hide" so when the article is first read "Hide" is the default and "Show" is the option? (rather than the present version with "Show" being the default and "Hide" being the option...). Thx, Shearonink (talk) 15:06, 1 August 2018 (UTC)
- @Shearonink: I took a look at the template history, because it definitely wasn't like that when I first added the template. It turns out that this wide box was a result of a recent change (beforehand, the box was only about 350px wide). I've added a "collapse" parameter (where it's hidden by default) to Template:Lower Manhattan transit and added that parameter to the WTC station article. Let me know if the new version of the template is still too wide. epicgenius (talk) 15:29, 1 August 2018 (UTC)

DYK for Bushwick Inlet Park
On 16 August 2018, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Bushwick Inlet Park, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that although New York City's Bushwick Inlet Park was proposed in 2005, the land for the park was not fully purchased until 2016? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Bushwick Inlet Park. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Bushwick Inlet Park), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Category deletion discussion
I would like to hear your input on the following discussions: Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2018 August 15#Category:Heritage railways in Hong Kong and Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2018 August 15#Category:Heritage railways in Japan. Both are presently occupied exclusively by rail lines in Disney parks. Basically, the nominator for both, Jc86035, wants them deleted because he doesn't think that rail lines run by Disney can be considered heritage railways. I have countered that they in fact do meet the minimum requirements to be considered as such (note the new info I added here: Heritage railway#Definition for reference). Jackdude101 talk cont 17:33, 16 August 2018 (UTC)
- For the record, it's not because they're run by Disney, it's because they're in theme parks and they were built specifically to transport park visitors rather than to represent an actual historical railway (compare Hogwarts Express (Universal Orlando Resort) and Thomas Land (Drayton Manor)). Jc86035 (talk) 17:40, 16 August 2018 (UTC)
- I'll read over the discussion. However, I'm on vacation right now so I can't really do much for the next few days. epicgenius (talk) 03:54, 17 August 2018 (UTC)

Construction of Rockefeller Center selected as TFA for September 13, 2018
Just letting you know the above article's been selected as today's featured article for September 13, 2018. Please check the article needs no amendments. If you're interested in editing the main page text, you're welcome to do so at Wikipedia:Today's featured article/September 13, 2018.--Wehwalt (talk) 19:53, 17 August 2018 (UTC)
- @Wehwalt: Thanks for letting me know. I'll look it over soon, when I have more access to a computer. epicgenius (talk) 12:31, 18 August 2018 (UTC)
- @TFA coordinators Just out of curiosity, could the date be moved at all? According to the Construction of Rockefeller Center article, the original complex was officially completed on November 1, 1939. I was thinking November 1, 2018 could theoretically be a suitable date, but I'm fine with the current date as well. Again, just a theoretical question, and sorry if this causes any inconvenience. epicgenius (talk) 00:15, 21 August 2018 (UTC)
- I looked at major anniversaries before scheduling, but none seemed particularly important in terms of number of years. If you'd like it not to run at this time, I'll respect that. Let me know for sure either way.--Wehwalt (talk) 10:17, 21 August 2018 (UTC)
- @Wehwalt: Thanks for the response. In that case, disregard my previous question. I think scheduling this TFA for September 13, 2018 is fine. epicgenius (talk) 13:32, 21 August 2018 (UTC)
- Thanks. And I really enjoyed your article. I suppose I had walked through Rockefeller Center any number of times but I had never thought much about how it came to be. I'm pleased to be the one to schedule it.--Wehwalt (talk) 13:55, 21 August 2018 (UTC)
- I'm glad you enjoyed it. I personally think this is one of the better aspects of the history of Manhattan skyscrapers. I never really thought about the history of Rockefeller Center, either, until last year. epicgenius (talk) 14:09, 21 August 2018 (UTC)

Costas Kondylis
Coul you please reword the article from architecture firm to just architect? He died 17 August and it just makes more sense this way. If not the item from Wikidata must be removed and created as architecture firm. Thank you Triplecaña (talk) 11:00, 21 August 2018 (UTC)
- @Triplecaña: I've added a few paragraphs about the man himself on the article. Please feel free to correct any errors I might have made. epicgenius (talk) 14:09, 21 August 2018 (UTC)

Select Bus Service
Would you please check the recent edit at Select Bus Service. The problem is that {{show by date|B82 SBS|B82 SBS on October 1, 2018}}
is showing an error because the first parameter to {{show by date}} should be a date. I'm not sure what is wanted there. Johnuniq (talk) 00:39, 23 August 2018 (UTC)
- @Johnuniq: I forgot to add the date, which I have fixed now. Thanks. epicgenius (talk) 00:40, 23 August 2018 (UTC)
in/of Bronx NY
Dont want to make a more public deal about this, but methinks that the Bronx is a Borough OF NYC, which you just changed to Borough IN NYC. Your call, though, and good look on your GA and TF. Bellagio99 (talk) 21:33, 20 August 2018 (UTC)
- @Bellagio99: Thanks for the message. Are you talking about the {{short description}} template I just changed? It was an attempt to rectify information in the short-description template that was placed on the article for Brooklyn, which was modified in this edit by Joel B. Lewis.Technically it is a borough in New York City and county in New York state. The previous phrasing, "county of New York", may be interpreted incorrectly as "county called New York County", so that's why I rephrased this to "county in New York". The statement "Borough in New York City" just mirrors the grammar of the phrase immediately after it, though "Borough of New York City" might also be fine, since there's no borough named "New York City". epicgenius (talk) 00:04, 21 August 2018 (UTC)
- Thanks both. I would have used "of" for borough (as Bellagio suggests), since I don't think that causes any potential confusion. --JBL (talk) 01:40, 24 August 2018 (UTC)

DYK for Interstate 78 in New York
On 31 August 2018, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Interstate 78 in New York, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that a 156-foot (48 m) tunnel for the Lower Manhattan Expressway was built in New York City in the 1960s, but was never used? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Interstate 78 in New York.
